She had barely arrived when he had already wrapped his arm around her slender waist and lifted her up.

“Being surprised or not won’t change the fact, and I never thought Miss Sun suited you anyway. Don’t want it? Then let it go. Do you even care?”

Mu Xiaojiu gazed down, his cold words still lacking much warmth.

After a moment of thought, Baili Xia shook her head: “I don’t care.”

Maybe this was for the best, the two of them could now be together openly and legitimately.

Of course, that was assuming he wouldn’t mention again that she should get engaged to Brother.

“Then why do you look so aggrieved now?”

Mu Xiaojiu extended a long finger to tap on her lips, suddenly bending down, intending to kiss her.

Baili Xia turned her face away to dodge his kiss, which landed on her chin instead.

And then, it began to trail down from her chin…

Uncle’s breathing became heavier, and his body temperature surged in an instant.

This obvious signal was clearer to Baili Xia than anyone else.

She immediately placed her hands against his chest and pushed hard: “Uncle, I have something to tell you.”

She had arrived feeling aggrieved, and they had yet to clarify the matter.

However, Mu Xiaojiu seemed indifferent, suddenly lifting her into his arms and heading towards the large bed.

Baili Xia panicked.

Did he think that by exhausting her to the point where she was too tired to speak, the issue would be resolved?

“Uncle, please don’t brush me off again.”

“Do you think I’m brushing you off?”

He gently set her down on the large bed.

Baili Xia’s fingertips trembled, still pressing against his chest: “Uncle, why do you still want me to get engaged to Brother?

Is this really what you want?”

“Hmm,” Mu Xiaojiu casually acknowledged, with no intention of elaborating on this topic.

He admitted it!

This utterly surprised Baili Xia, she thought at least he would have something to explain to her.

“Uncle.”

Her heart flustered, she abruptly gripped her collar tightly, lifting her head to meet his gaze, urgency in her eyes.

“Uncle, can you tell me why you still want to do this?”

“Even if I’m no longer Miss Sun of the Mu family, there’s no need to stay with Brother, why do you still…”

“Whether you’re Miss Sun of the Mu family or not, what conflict does it have with your engagement to Xiaoyao?”

Mu Xiaojiu was unwilling to stop.

“Uncle, Uncle…

wait a minute.” Baili Xia panicked, pushing him hard again: “Uncle, I’m talking to you, you…”

“Let’s talk about it later.” He lowered his head.

The tingling sensation almost made Baili Xia lose all her strength.

But the questions swirling in her head prevented her from simply letting go.

“Uncle, how can I be with you without clarifying these issues…”

“Why can’t you? Just close your eyes. It’s been a long time since I’ve been with you, Xiaxia, now that you’re well, don’t reject me anymore.”

His husky voice was intoxicating to any woman.

Baili Xia really was intoxicated, deeply so.

But the intoxication was no match for the sense of grievance within her.

Once again, she pushed him away forcefully, and when he tried to kiss her again, this time she held his face to stop him, refusing to let go.

“Uncle, why must it always be like this? I have things to tell you, why can’t we have a proper conversation?”

Mu Xiaojiu’s large hand paused.

He looked down at her, the heat in his eyes slowly cooling off.

“You come to me in the middle of the night, isn’t it for this after all? Playing hard to get—I don’t like such acts. It’s best to be more natural around me.”
