“I don’t know, but Jin once told me that Bei Qingyou disappeared during those two years, those two years…”

Baili Xia bit her lip and glanced at him again.

She knew her master wouldn’t harm her.

She should trust him, just like she trusts her Brother.

Clenching her fist, she said, “Jin said the timeline matches my age.”

Nangong Xu’s eyes flickered slightly, but he did not respond to her words.

Instead, he began to calculate with his fingers.

After a moment of calculation, his gem-like eyes suddenly widened.

Baili Xia had never seen such an expression of shock on her master’s face before.

Clearly, even he was startled, wasn’t he?

“Master, do you think it’s possible too?” Baili Xia gripped his broad hand tightly, her face full of urgency.

The astonishment in Nangong Xu’s eyes was fleeting.

In the end, he calmed down and gently pushed away her small hand clutching his.

“What’s the panic about?

This matter requires careful consideration, but it must absolutely not be revealed to anyone.”

“I understand, if she really was murdered, then—then I…” Baili Xia stopped mid-sentence.

Nangong Xu, however, completed it for her, “If you and Bei Qingyou truly have a connection, then you’ll be the next target of those people.”

Baili Xia bit her lip.

That part didn’t scare her.

Because, for her right now, what matters most is finding out if the legendary mysterious woman Bei Qingyou is really her mother.

She felt as though she didn’t have much strength left to ponder these questions anymore; her mind was truly in disarray.

In the end, she couldn’t even register what Nangong Xu had warned her about.

Stumbling out of Sihai Residence, she headed toward the main house.

Before reaching the main hall, she suddenly stopped.

Her mind was cluttered; even if she returned now, she wouldn’t know what to do.

After hesitating for a few more minutes, she abruptly turned around and headed in the direction of the backyard.

When she arrived at the backyard, looking at the empty flower bushes, her heart felt a stab of tenderness.

Whenever she had come to this place in the past, she would call out Shengxue’s name, and Shengxue would always dart out from a nearby corner to carry her to the back mountain.

But Shengxue wasn’t here anymore…

Though Shengxue had already been gone for some time, it didn’t hurt as much to think about it now.

Still, her heart carried a lingering ache.

She walked to where the sightseeing vehicles were parked, picked one, and drove slowly toward the back mountain.

Feeling restless and agitated, she didn’t even know what she actually wanted to do.

In this moment, she suddenly found herself longing for someone.

As the vehicle reached the back mountain, the setting sun cast its glow across the land.

The usually bustling training ground on the back mountain was now silent and void of people.

Of course, she had expected this; it was impossible to encounter Wu Ming at this hour.

She knew full well she wouldn’t meet him, yet she came anyway, simply because her mind was consumed with thoughts she couldn’t make sense of.

Or perhaps, she just wanted to train relentlessly, exhaust herself, and then return home to get some sleep.

Yet it had slipped her mind—Wu Ming never appeared during the day.

Baili Xia quietly sat on the grass, staring at the distant horizon.

Eventually, when she grew tired of sitting, she lay down.

And before she realized it, she had fallen asleep…

She didn’t know how long she had slept, but a chilling sensation crept over her body—it was cold, growing colder, so cold it felt as though she had fallen into an icy abyss.

In her dream, amidst the boundless white expanse of the world, there seemed to be a woman—a very beautiful and gentle woman.

She couldn’t make out the woman’s face, only her figure.

The woman seemed to be beckoning to her.
