Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1281
The already overly nervous Tao, upon hearing the sharp scream, couldn’t take heed of anything else and dashed over immediately.
Baili Xia furrowed her eyebrows even tighter, staring at the hall’s entrance with a flicker of hesitation.
The scream wasn’t quite heart-wrenching; it was more out of shock.
But…
Madame Bei Tang Jixin?
Bei Tianyou’s mother, Tao’s mistress.
Baili Xia hesitated for just a moment before she couldn’t restrain herself and also strode over.
Inside the hall, Nangong Yun was holding a snowy white creature, the corners of her lips curved with a faint smile as she gently stroked the white fluff.
Her soft movements, paired with delicate whispers, exuded an indescribable elegance and sophistication.
She was soothing the white little creature in her arms, seemingly because the little creature had been startled.
When Tao entered the room, this was the scene that greeted her.
Not far from Nangong Yun, Tang Jixin had fallen to the ground, her face pale as a sheet.
“Madame!” Tao’s heart seized in fear, and she immediately rushed over.
Attempting to help Tang Jixin up, she unexpectedly noticed several bloody scratches on the back of Tang Jixin’s hand, carved by something.
The blood was still seeping out—not much, but against her fair skin, it was shockingly apparent.
“Madame, you’re injured! What happened? Does it hurt, Madame?”
Seeing Tang Jixin wounded, Tao’s heart ached terribly, but she couldn’t suppress the resentful glance she cast at Nangong Yun.
“What kind of look is that?” Nangong Yun, who had been faintly smiling all along, immediately retracted her smile upon catching Tao’s inappropriate expression.
Her face darkening, she snapped loudly, “Someone, come here! This wretched girl is disrespecting me—slap her face!”
Two men immediately stepped forward, prepared to restrain Tao.
“What are you doing? Stop! You can’t hurt Tao!” Seeing them about to seize Tao, Tang Jixin’s fear instantly evaporated.
She lunged forward abruptly, shielding Tao and raising her head to glare at Nangong Yun standing before her.
“My Tao has done nothing wrong.
You want to come inside, so come in—when have I ever tried to stop you?
Why must you deliberately make things difficult?”
“Oh my, Aunt, what are you saying?
Me, a mere junior, how could I dare make things difficult for you?”
Tang Jixin’s face remained stern.
“If you wouldn’t dare, then hurry and—”
“But this little maid disrespected me, and that’s something I cannot overlook.”
Nangong Yun interrupted Tang Jixin unhurriedly, “If I don’t take action, the people in this family might think that even servants can bully me.”
“If my mother catches wind of this and gets upset, it’ll be hard for me to console her.”
“You know how it is, Aunt; my mother’s temper isn’t very good.”
“Miss Yun, it’s all my fault! It’s my mistake—punish me instead! It’s my mistake!”
As soon as Tao heard this, she immediately knelt down, nearly ready to kowtow to Nangong Yun.
Baili Xia, standing at the hall entrance, was genuinely left stunned by the scene.
What is this…
this moment—does it truly belong to a modern era?
If one didn’t know better, they’d assume they’d accidentally traveled back to ancient times, witnessing a young miss of a noble family bullying her servants under the guise of authority.
Nangong Xu once said that the Bei Family upheld very ancient living habits; unexpectedly, it turned out to be true!
“Since you’re admitting fault…”
“Brother You, are you all almost here? Oh, alright, I’ll go check whether Madame Bei is around and wait with her in the courtyard for you.”
Suddenly, a slender figure walked in from outside.
She held a phone against her cheek, clearly in the middle of a call.
Her voice, tinged with laughter, drifted in immediately: “You’ll be here in five minutes? Okay, I got it. Brother You, see you soon.”
