Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1327
Later, Baili Xia couldn’t quite remember how Uncle left.
All she knew was that he stormed off in a fury, leaving behind a chilling emptiness in the room.
This inexplicable man always thought he could control everything, but she was determined not to let him get his way.
Let him get mad, it serves him right—who told him to bully her all the time!
Throwing down the cushion, she grabbed her simple backpack and hurried out of her room.
Not far away, the door to another room was slightly ajar—clearly, someone inside had been waiting for her.
With anger boiling inside her, Baili Xia stormed to the door, not bothering to use her hands—she kicked it wide open.
With a loud bang, the door slammed against the wall, making quite a noise.
Mu Xiaoyao, who was already closing his laptop, immediately stood up and turned around to see the furious girl approaching him: “He…”
“You knew he was coming to find me, but you purposely left me to deal with him alone!”
“You promised me you wouldn’t bully me, yet you’re helping him bully me together!
Bastard!
How could you be so awful?”
She raised her hand and punched him in the chest: “You’re a bastard!
And I actually thought you cared about me!
You… you…”
The warmth he’d shown her before completely vanished tonight the moment Uncle showed up.
She thought she’d truly found someone willing to care for her, but in the end, everything turned out to be Uncle’s manipulation.
Without Uncle, he wouldn’t have been willing to stay with her, right?
Baili Xia wasn’t sure what she was thinking—she just knew her heart was tired, truly exhausted.
Among the people around her, not one of them was genuine; all of them wore fake faces, deceitful disguises.
Mu Xiaoyao knew that she must have suffered some grievance from Uncle again.
But there were things… that troubled him.
“Your chin…” The sharp little chin was red, with faint finger marks visible on it.
Mu Xiaoyao’s chest tightened slightly, and guilt immediately washed over him.
“I’m sorry.” He hadn’t realized Uncle would still resort to roughness at this point.
He thought they would just sit down and talk, catch up after all this time…
Baili Xia understood that she didn’t really have the right to be angry at him—he was just following Uncle’s orders.
If she didn’t consider Brother as one of her own, perhaps she wouldn’t care about what he did at all.
But Brother… had been so, so good to her, to the point it gave her the illusion that he might actually stand by her side.
Yet in the end, she forgot that Brother… had always been Uncle’s man from beginning to end.
“I’ll handle tonight’s matter myself.
I don’t need you.” Turning around and swallowing her heartache, she strode toward the door: “Don’t follow me—I don’t need to report everything I do to you all!”
But after only two steps, her wrist was suddenly seized, and she was pulled back by Mu Xiaoyao.
“I didn’t tell Uncle about tonight’s matter—I don’t report everything to him.”
He seemed to have understood a little of what she cared about.
She didn’t like being under Uncle’s surveillance, so he… wouldn’t let Uncle know if it wasn’t necessary.
Isn’t that enough?
“It’s dangerous for you to go alone.” He softened his voice as much as he could.
“I’m sorry, but I’m still going to go with you.”
“Is it that I can’t have even a little bit of privacy? That I can’t have my own personal space?” she cried softly.
“You can. You can.” Mu Xiaoyao was unsettled by the glimmer of tears in her eyes, an undefined discomfort stirring within him.
Pressing his lips together briefly, he finally said in a quiet tone: “No matter what I see or hear tonight, I promise not to tell Uncle, alright?”
