Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1603
Tried several dishes in a row, the taste was so familiar yet distinctly different.
The old man’s heart was suddenly filled with excitement.
“These dishes…”
He pointed at the food, his fingers slightly trembling.
“Grandpa, does it taste okay?”
Baili Xia looked at him, asking with a sweet smile.
“Did you make this?” He looked sideways at Baili Xia, trying to keep his voice calm.
Although the taste of these dishes was very similar to those made by Chef Wang, there was something different.
The old man knew that Chef Wang could not possibly return, so how could these dishes be made by him?
Baili Xia nodded, smiling as she said, “I tried to replicate Chef Wang’s taste, I wonder if it suits your palate?”
The old man’s fingers paused in mid-air, forgetting to retract, and also forgot to answer Baili Xia’s question.
After a while, he looked at Baili Xia, nodded lightly, his voice sounding somewhat emotional.
“It suits, it suits my palate very well, it’s delicious.”
He picked up some more food and continued eating.
Only occasionally when he glanced at Baili Xia, his eyes were filled with complex emotions.
This girl, truly considerate, her sincerity in taking care of him he could understand.
But this relationship had already been torn apart, perhaps there was no way to treat her the same as before.
If only she were his biological granddaughter, how wonderful it would be, but unfortunately…
Conflicted inside, yet he couldn’t tell Baili Xia.
His attitude toward her had been so bad in the past, but this girl truly had a kind heart, it wasn’t something she held against him.
He really liked this little girl…
The two ate, chatting intermittently.
Time seemed to have returned to the past, two people with no hard feelings laughing and talking.
Perhaps if they moved past those unfounded identity issues, they could get along very harmoniously.
The old man’s mood improved, and his appetite increased significantly.
Almost the entire table of dishes went into his stomach.
Just after finishing lunch, Feng Gang came in.
“Master.” He walked over to the old man’s side, bowing slightly as he greeted.
“Hmm?” The old man wiped his mouth with a napkin, raising his head to look at Feng Gang.
Feng Gang glanced at the dishes on the table, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
This morning he had been told the old man’s appetite wasn’t good, how did he finish all the dishes at noon?
Knowing that it was only him and Baili Xia, yet they had eaten four plates of dishes.
“Master, I heard from downstairs that your appetite hasn’t been good lately, how is it that today…”
The old man understood what he meant, smiling faintly as he said, “This is thanks to Xiaxia, otherwise I really couldn’t have eaten.”
“These dishes… were made by Miss Xiaxia?”
Feng Gang glanced at Baili Xia, trying to find the maids, but they weren’t in the side room.
Baili Xia understood what he was thinking at the moment and explained, “Housekeeper Feng, I indeed made these dishes, so don’t blame the maids.”
“I saw Grandpa didn’t want to eat, so I gave it a try, luckily, Grandpa ate quite a bit.”
Feng Gang looked at the empty plates on the table, considering that what Baili Xia did wasn’t wrong, finally feeling relieved.
“Then…
thank you, Miss Xiaxia.”
“Alright, Xiaxia, accompany me for a walk.”
After eating, the old man felt somewhat happy, standing up intending to have Baili Xia accompany him for a walk.
Who knew that as soon as he stood up, a sudden dizziness hit him, and his body swayed slightly.
Feng Gang, standing beside him, quickly stepped forward to support him, preventing him from falling to the ground.
He exclaimed anxiously, “Master, what’s wrong?”
