[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 149: Ch 149: Spending time together - Part 1
"What are you doing? You should be resting. Otherwise, your fever may strike again due to your poor health."
Noah blinked as he watched Erin walk into the room just when he stood up to leave. He had not expected the esper to come back so soon.
Usually, Erin was running around with errands to do as a teacher, and it was hard to catch him.
"You are back early? Did something happen?"
He asked, and Erin let out a chuckle as he came near Noah and sat beside him.
"Nothing happened. I decided to come back early because I have no work to do. Almost no students have returned, and there are more than enough teachers to take up various duties."
Erin pointed out as he took Noah’s temperature before sitting beside him on the bed.
Noah did not mind having Erin close by, but he was aware that he was taking up the esper’s bed. Erin had not complained about this, but Noah was starting to feel a little guilty about kicking the esper out of his own bed.
"Is something wrong?"
Noah opened his mouth to speak, but then closed it and then opened it again. After a few minutes of struggling and thinking about it, he finally let out a sigh and spoke.
"I should head back to my room now. I have spent far too long sitting in your room. Daniel must be wondering where I went..."
Noah was making an excuse to run away, but this time, Erin did not stop him. He simply got up and helped Noah up.
His lack of questioning made Noah feel as if he was missing something crucial, but he decided not to ask.
"I will accompany you back to your room."
And Erin did come all the way with Noah, only to find that the room was locked.
Noah felt a little shocked at the fact that the room was locked. After all, Daniel was someone who preferred to stay in their room when he was not busy. And the classes had ended some time ago.
’Where did Daniel go? Did the teachers call for him?’
Daniel did not owe Noah anything to tell him where he was and why he was going there. They might have been roommates, but Noah was also injured and out at the moment, with no plans to return to their shared room.
Still, it was a problem for Noah. What was he supposed to do now that he could no longer access their room?
"I don’t have a key for this lock. Should I just break and enter?"
He asked, looking at the door in front of him with impassive eyes. But it was Erin who shook his head in a ’no’ direction.
"You should message Daniel to ask him first. Maybe he is nearby?"
It did not seem to be the case, but there was no harm in trying either. Noah took out his phone and dialled Daniel’s number first. But the phone was busy.
So he left a message for his roommate.
[Daniel, are you out? Can you hand me the key to our room?]
Now it was time to wait, and Noah leaned against the wall to support his back. He closed his eyes to relax, but he opened them again once he heard hurried footsteps heading their way.
It was Daniel who had come back, but he was not alone.
Alan had followed Daniel as well, almost like a shadow, and Noah felt glad to see him as well. But only for a reason.
Then he felt confused seeing them both together.
’It feels a little suspicious. Why is Alan with Daniel...not that it is a bad thing. This was supposed to happen anyway. But still...’
Noah did not know why, but he felt a little disturbed seeing the esper-guide pair together. His instincts told him to get between the two and stand there before he could be abandoned.
But he quickly smacked himself across the face to get his mind back on track.
’That is not good. I should be happy that these two have finally started to get closer. That means my mission is closer to being finished.’
Noah felt a little spark of happiness, but it was accompanied by a bone-chilling despair and grief at almost being left behind by the pair.
He knew that it was only natural for him to be discarded once the pair stabilised their relationship, but it still left a sour taste in his mouth.
It almost made him not acknowledge what he saw, but Erin was different, and he let out a delighted sound as he watched the pair get along.
"Oh! It seems like you both are getting along better than before. This is good. You both make a good pair. Spend more time together and get even closer, alright? They make a surprisingly good pair, right Noah?"
Noah’s insides felt like they were being crushed, but he maintained a bitter-sweet smile as he looked at the pair in front of him with a forced expression.
"You both do look good together. Did you spend a lot of time together while I was sick?"
Noah forced himself to ask and not look crushed, and it worked.
Daniel and Alan did not pick up anything in his voice, and Daniel let out a scoff. When he opened his mouth, it almost looked like he was about to say something rude about Alan, and Noah got his hopes up.
But Daniel ended up grumbling instead.
"We do not look like a couple. Why does everyone keep saying this—"
"It’s because they think it’s only a matter of time. But hey, it should be fine, right, honey? You like me at least, and that is enough for me. If you want more, all you have to do is hint at it—"
"No, thank you. I am not ready for a relationship with you."
Daniel denied Alan, but it sounded far softer this time. Noah could confidently say that the pair had successfully gotten closer.
