Chapter 1068: Put Some Clothes On—What Do You Think You're Doing? (Part 3)

In the room, a small suitcase was thrown onto the bed. Avery Jane was sweating with anxiety, but she couldn’t move quickly. Her whole body felt sore and weak, and her legs seemed to tremble as she walked.

“No rush, no rush, shall I send you to Paris?” Joshua Hughes held her waist from behind, soothing her gently.

“No.” Avery replied decisively. It was her job, and she couldn’t allow principles to be disrupted. No matter how wealthy he was, it was his business. In terms of feelings, she sought equality, not him solving everything for her. She didn’t want to depend on any man, even if she was emotionally moved by him.

Joshua’s eyes dimmed, like a starless night sky. Was she angry?

Since she’d only stay for two days, she hadn’t packed much. She changed into a fitted grey long shirt, black leggings, and white flat shoes, projecting a youthful and alluring charm.

“Is Avery upset that I was too greedy yesterday?” Joshua watched her movements, his eyes glimmering, subtle and scattered.

“I have a good idea, do you want to hear it…” Avery’s heart tickled upon hearing his words. This damn man wasn’t just yesterday; he almost overwhelmed her this morning.

She turned around, smiling enchantingly, clinging to his shoulders, her red lips pouting lightly. A flicker of crimson crossed Joshua’s eyes: “What’s the idea?” Her attitude suddenly changed 180 degrees, leaving him a bit unable to cope.

“In the future, if you want that, you’ll have to win against me in gambling…” After Avery finished speaking, she smiled like a mouse that stole oil. She was quite confident in her skills. If she didn’t want it, he absolutely couldn’t approach her. Given his previous appetites, she’d probably have to rest at home every day. Although her gambling skills were top-notch, using them against him was somewhat unbearable.

He didn’t oppose the couple playing little games; he welcomed it. But this particular idea made him uncomfortable. If he couldn’t beat her, wouldn’t he just have to watch and not touch her? The feeling from yesterday that still gave him tingles like electric shocks—if he couldn’t do it again, it’d be a torment…

Joshua’s face instantly clouded over. Avery poked his firm chest with her finger: “What, are you only thinking about doing that with me?”

Her pouting lips, slightly annoyed eyes sparkled like the brightest stars.

“Of course not.” Joshua said, distressed, watching her turn and close the suitcase zipper.

“Then it’s settled.” Seeing Joshua’s expression, Avery felt a little smug. Who told him to do so many wrong things before? Sister Finn’s diverse expertise hadn’t been used on him yet. Someday she’d play with him until he was utterly bewildered—that’d be the happiest.

That little bit of smugness and slight sense of revenge made Avery feel delighted.

“Hurry and get dressed; what kind of scene is this?” Avery could predict what Beckett Wright would think upon seeing this. But it’s fine if he did see it. She once openly told Beckett about the impossibility between them. Now, him seeing this might be best for him. With Joshua, maybe from the start, there was an inherent entangled fate. Therefore, following her heart, she allowed herself to become entangled with him. If one day she ended up hurt, she wouldn’t regret it; at least she once loved…

“Sorry, I woke up late today.” Avery walked out confidently, seeing Beckett sitting idly on the sofa, looking a bit pale.
