Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 1285: Do You Still Love Him?
She and Jingyao were not like this, but they still had feelings. However, as for Zhao Mo Ran and Chu Ci… she had heard about it, and it was causing quite a stir outside.
Zhao Mo Ran wasn’t someone who meddled in others’ affairs. She wasn’t very familiar with Zhao Mo Ran, but she could tell that the girl in front of her was a good person who was also lost in confusion…
She smiled slightly. Actually, Chu Ci was indeed a charming man, not to mention his power and looks, which were hard to ignore. He used to have a good temperament and was very kind to people, making it hard to resist. So, Lin Hua added a sentence: “Not all relationships are smooth sailing. Follow your heart.”
Zhao Mo Ran was silent for a moment before quietly asking, “Do you still love him?”
Lin Hua took a sip of coffee and smiled, “You mean Jingyao?”
Zhao Mo Ran nodded.
Lin Hua lost her focus for a moment before saying, “Yes, otherwise we wouldn’t be together again.”
Last time, Jingyao agreed to the divorce, but within a month, he ended up in the hospital with a serious illness, which could be attributed to him not taking care of himself. He didn’t let anyone tell her, unlike his usual unruly behavior, but she still found out from Anxi. She went to see him; post-surgery, he was leaning against the bedhead, looking at documents… He seemed thinner but appeared calm and composed.
At that moment, Lin Hua knew that she might not be able to forgive him for now, but she couldn’t let go of him.
She walked over and took the documents from his hand, “You’re still looking at this in such a state; isn’t Jingchuan looking after you!”
King Jingyao kept his head raised to look at her, only after a long time did he seem to come to his senses and gently smile while touching the sheets beside him, “Jingchuan is my secretary, not my wife, how could he manage me?”
Lin Hua glared at him.
But soon, her eyes became moist… She quickly wiped them with her hand.
King Jingyao became somewhat anxious, his voice hoarse, “Why are you about to cry? At your age, you still act like a little girl.”
She turned her back on him, unwilling to be seen in such a state.
King Jingyao watched her back for a while and still quietly got out of bed, turned her body around from behind, and his voice rasping, “What’s wrong with you? It’s hard enough for you to come visit me… this patient hasn’t cried from the pain, but you’re crying from distress?”
As he spoke, he gently wiped away her tears and coaxed her, “All right, all right, thank goodness Xiao Yue isn’t here; otherwise, he’d think his mother is fragile.”
Lin Hua looked up at him, choking on her words, “You really haven’t changed at all.”
King Jingyao smirked, “It’s been decades; how could one change all at once? That would be like changing skin like a chameleon.”
Lin Hua pursed her lips, and he quickly added, “Alright, alright, sit down and talk, you keep standing without a problem, but my old bones can’t hold on.”
With that, he sat down, Lin Hua hurriedly looked over, noticing he was sweating at the forehead, his face showing some pain, she quickly said, “I didn’t ask you to come down.”
“How could I not, when my wife is crying like this.” He sighed helplessly and felt more comfortable leaning against the bedhead.
“We are divorced,” she said softly.
King Jingyao’s fingers lightly brushed her eyes, his voice gentle, “Divorced, but you’re not my wife anymore? Then whose wife are you?”
“King Jingyao.” She became slightly angry and glared at him.
He then slightly curbed his teasing and patted the spot beside him, “Come here, sit down, chat with me, it’s been quite a few days since I saw you.”
At that time, Lin Hua’s mood was somewhat complex; they weren’t a couple anymore, yet he treated her the same as before. She couldn’t understand it all herself. Nevertheless, she sat down as he wished.
King Jingyao looked at her, “Not angry anymore?”
“No.”
He smiled, “What have you been busy with? I heard from Xiao Yue that you’ve been practicing the piano a lot recently, what, do you plan to become a musician and tour the world?”
Lin Hua nodded slightly, “Preparing, perhaps for five global concerts next year.”
He lost his focus for a moment, then smiled again, “You’re impressive.”
He seemed to mumble to himself, “Indeed better off than when you were with me… What good came from marrying me? Endless social engagements, little time to accompany you, and unable to be public outside, what others have you don’t. It’s obviously better now.”
Lin Hua looked at the expression on his face, listening to his words, feeling a deep sense of sadness.
After a while, she said hoarsely, “That’s not the case, Jingyao.”
She felt he was truly hateful, as if a few words could clean things up, as if she divorced him simply for freedom… She felt resentment but couldn’t express it.
King Jingyao naturally understood her thoughts as well, he smiled slightly, “I know, don’t worry…”
These few words made her lose all anger instantly, only looking at him in a daze.
Later, Secretary Wang entered; upon seeing her, he was somewhat surprised but immediately said several things to King Jingyao. King Jingyao thought carefully and replied, and then his phone calls increased, to a point where it was hard to imagine he was a patient who had just undergone surgery two days ago… Lin Hua never left, continuously watching him work hard, enduring the pain, unable to spare time for her or exchange a few good words with her.
At the time, she felt indescribably sad.
She even felt that he was enduring more pain than she was…
Later, she took away his phone, locked the door to the ward, and pushed him to lie down, “No more busywork.”
He was forced to lie down, “Lin Hua? Don’t cause trouble.”
“I’m not causing trouble.” She covered him with the quilt, “You’re a patient, an older patient at that, Jingyao, stop tormenting yourself. If you are deliberately making me feel heartache from your hardship today, then you’ve succeeded.”
“I wasn’t.” He sighed and closed his eyes.
Lin Hua paused for a while, and when she wanted to speak to him again, she found he had already fallen asleep…
She was slightly taken aback, even somewhat disoriented, and after a long time, she went over to carefully observe his face.
He had grown thinner, looking different from before.
She watched for a long time before leaving, finding Wang Jingchuan outside; Lin Hua closed the door, “What’s the matter with his illness?”
Wang Jingchuan was startled and turned his head, “Madam.”
Lin Hua looked at him.
Wang Jingchuan smiled wryly, “Sir had a fight with you over the divorce, but everyone knows his heart is with you, calling you madam isn’t far from the truth.”
He continued, “Since you left, sir has been working around the clock on public affairs; his health was already fragile and couldn’t withstand such a toll… He didn’t allow me to tell you, yet somehow you know. I must explain to him afterward; otherwise, he’ll blame me.”
Lin Hua remained quite calm, “Anxi told me.”
Secretary Wang appeared to have a sudden revelation, “Miss Anxi, then I’m relieved. She always cares about you and can’t bear her old brother, always hoping for you two to reconcile, often throwing a fit at the office, scaring Mr. Wang.”
Lin Hua knew he was exaggerating; she understood Anxi’s demeanor and knew she wouldn’t create a scene but rather upset her old brother subtly…
However, undeniably, Lin Hua’s heart softened slightly, her voice lowered, “I’ll care for him here, today… at least today public matters shouldn’t bother him.”
Once she spoke, she had authority, and Wang Jingchuan immediately said, “Alright, I understand. I’ll return to the office, and all matters can be decided by Mr. Zhou.”
Lin Hua nodded and watched him leave.
When she returned to the ward, King Jingyao was surprisingly awake, seeing her enter; he placed his hands under his head and said quietly, “I thought you left, ignoring me again.”
She went over and sat down, “I never said I’d care for you, stop with such self-absorption as if every woman in the world wants to revolve around you.”
He held her hand, smiling slightly, “Why do I want all the women in the world? An old man like me can’t handle it. I just hope Ms. Lin would grant me a kind face, better than anything else.”
Saying this, he shamelessly began moving his hands and feet again.
Lin Hua slapped his hand, “Behave.”
He held her hand tight, his voice hoarse, “When will you move back? Xiao Yue misses his mom very much.”
Intently looking at her.
Lin Hua truly couldn’t handle him like this, this old rascal that seems to have settled on her.
Moreover, during their divorce, it seemed he was the one who let go, and now he’s all clingy again. She thought… She pursed her lips, “What’s the meaning of moving back? I’m not going back.”
He understood, smiled, “Really not going back?”
“No.” She sighed lightly, “I’ll stay here for a day; tomorrow, you fend for yourself, either let Jingchuan take care of you or let Anxi… stop bothering me.”
