Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 293 - 292:”You.”

Chapter 293: Chapter 292:”You.”

That... was a lot.

"Old man... you’re saying the ancient families are a power cultivated by these cosmic forces!"

"That is right."

"But.. it doesn’t make sense."

"What doesn’t?"

"If this place was such a treasure land, why aren’t I seeing arrogant space young masters everywhere? Parading and slaving people? There’s no way I’m buying your they didn’t rule with an iron fist bullshit. People aren’t that nice, much less, those powerful enough to subdue worlds." I called bullsuit immediately.

"Heh! It seems it’s not only women that you have up there indeed." The old man smirked, pointing to his head as he mocked me.

"HEY!!"

"You are right. A peaceful takeover was never the first option, total control was, but when the planet itself fought back, they could only come to a compromise."

"Fought back?"

"If terra could very well suppress the ability of others on her lands, it isn’t that strange to assume she had absolute power over everything within the confines of her planet. So unless they were willing to blow the planet up from outside, they could only compromise and come to terms with what the planet wanted, hence, why we have the ancient families."

I nodded, yet something still wasn’t adding up.

"I understand that part, but why aren’t there many of these families prodigies within the planet? I see demons galavanting like they own the place.

Vampires have their own kingdoms.

Hell, even winged pigeons were present, yet these so called "families" I’ve not seen a whiff of."

"Tell me, Dante, if you had to pick between mingling with those that were absolutely beneath you, or focus on completing what took you to a place you considered nothing but a backyard, what would you do?"

"Of course I’d get things done and leave."

"There’s your answers. The same way the celestials feel it better to remain within the confines of the church, so too, do these prodigies, we have nothing to offer other than the fast comprehension of laws, so why bother showing themselves."

I went quiet.

He was right. There was no need to show up when all the planet was worth, you could get by staying within what were probably the most beautiful places the planet had to offer, enjoy privileged services, all while getting stronger.

"So what has this got to do with the demons you mentioned earlier? About their invasions?"

"Ahh, that. Well, just like the ancient families, the demons you see now aren’t True Demons but merely a diluted lineage, the only ones bearing some semblance of pure bloodlines being the ruling families of each kingdom."

"The invasion the history books tell you about wasn’t just about mindless conquest, no, the demons had discovered terra by accident, and finding out what made her special, decided to do what they do best.."

"Take.." a cold, murderous look flashed past my eyes as those words left my lips.

"Exactly. So, a fight broke out, and the hidden forces of the ancient families were forced to intervene.

It was THESE people that had brokered the peace agreement with the demons, but not before the vampires and celestials caught wind of it, hence leading to a four way agreement by the powerhouses.

They would keep the secret quiet.

And in return, they would be allowed to send their prodigies over to deepen their comprehensions and abilities.

The demons and vampires decided to take up lands, but not without restrictions, that being no pureblooded ones were allowed outside a select few, whilst the Hidden forces and celestials merely settled for sending a select few each time to increase the comprehension of their various laws."

Damn... that was a lot.

I had to take a moment to digest all this.

I already knew things weren’t simple the moment I started receiving fragmented bloodlines, but to think it was this bad.

"But, wait.. if what you’re saying is true, then how did aunt v just wipe out an entire family without being stopped by these guys? Or is it that there aren’t any currently within the Draken family?" I asked, curious.

"Heh!" Aunt V scoffed, not bothering to quit her playing with Lucien as she answered,

"Would you stop your important training just to attend to the sorrows of ants?" She asked.

"Don’t get it confused, Dante. These people don’t care for whatever happens to these ancient families, as they could easily replace them, to them, the ancient families are little more than caretakers. Temporary hosts. Convenient bloodlines through which they can reestablish themselves whenever they descend." She sneered, scorn visible in her eyes.

"Is that so...." I muttered quietly, before I asked the million dollar question.

"So.. old man, these powers, they’re the ones that orchestrated dad’s death, weren’t they? They merely used the demons and others as a tool didn’t they?"

The moment the words left my lips, the entire mood shifted.

Aunt V stopped playing with the sleeping child.

Tian sat up.

Dakota’s eyes narrowed sharply.

And the old man, well, he didn’t bother reacting.

"That is what we suspect. It might still be the work of that snake and his cohorts, but I find it unlikely that Damien has anything capable of stopping regulus."

"But why? Why would they target father? After all, they don’t care about the natives , right?"

.....

.....

"They don’t care when you don’t cross the line." The old man suddenly spoke up after going silent for a few moments.

"Cross the line?"

"Yes. The line."

"I told you that these powers always took away any child that was born with a bloodline purer than allowed, and I’ve already told you of the ridiculousness that was your father’s bloodline, so you can take a guess what happened.."

"You aren’t saying..."

"Yes. Regulus once told me that the genius descendants that had arrived on terra back then had decided to take him away when they were done with their training. Unfortunately, they had just arrived and regulus himself had just awakened, and despite the fast rate of improvement on terra, time was still a factor, and time to someone like your father, was a very dangerous thing."

"Old man... what happened between them.."

"Haaa... the geniuses of that power, after completing their time on terra, finally approached your father, but regulus was strong headed and refused to be taken away and put under another, despite the persistence of the drakens, he refused."

"Upset and embarrassed at their authority being challenged, they struck, intent on forcing him away or outright killing him."

"The result of that clash.... Your father eliminated every single one of those geniuses, both they and their attendants, none were spared."

"What?"

"The fallout was so massive that the power they belonged to threatened to destroy all of terra, with the only reason terra survived being the intervention of the others involved, preventing a loss of a major resource."

"So, furious and embarrassed, that power was forced to leave and since they had already exhausted their quarter for that time, they couldn’t send others to descend."

"That was how your father escaped. The drakens, as expected, were furious of course, but they could do nothing to regulus, and it only became worse when he finally met your mother, gave up his family name, and left with her."

A sudden heavy weight fell upon my heart.

"Father..."

"We have no idea what happened next with the Drakens, but we suspect that a set of descendants had arrived within that time and had planned everything that led up to regulus’ death, because that’s the only way I could see that bastard dying, and even then, the chances should’ve been extremely low, unless they came with something we’ve never seen before."

"That’s why you’re being cautious." It finally clicked.

With the way the world was afraid of this old man, and his temperament, I’m sure he would’ve already done something by now, but it seems it wasn’t so simple.

"Yes.. we still don’t know who is behind it, and what they have that enabled them to take down your father." His eyes flashed coldly as he said those words.

"But soon, it will be useless, whatever they have."

"You have a plan?"

The old man’s eyes brightened as he looked at me.

"You."

"Me?"

"For years we’ve been forced to swallow our grievances, forced to put our revenge on hold, but now, it’s time we begin truly, as the final piece on the board has arrived.."

He looked at me intently as he uttered emphatically.

"You."

***********

A/N: well damn... didn’t see that one coming.

Seems I was right.

Regulus was too much to have been killed by no names.

Anyways,
