Chapter 497: Chapter 495:Shen Wu Zhen.

I was stunned speechless.

No. Forget the girls that had gone silent from the ridiculousness of the situation, but even I myself was finding it hard to believe what I just heard.

And the worst part was I didn’t even know what to be more surprised by.

Should I be surprised by the fact that the scenario I just cooked up in my head in order to troll my lovely ladies had turned out to be an actual ongoing event?

Or was I supposed to be surprised that I had been here comparing this Law Sovereign sect master with my new friend who had already attained a level of power few in the entirety of this prime universe could actually contend with?

"Damn! I should’ve really checked out Xuan better instead of just allowing myself to be carried away in the moment." Because had I done so, it would’ve only been one surprising moment to deal with, but this...

"To think that goofball was hiding it so deeply." I couldn’t help shaking my head wryly.

I had thought I was the only one holding back during our aura clash back then, but it turns out the man himself had held back from releasing his true power.

No. It wouldn’t have meant shit to me in the grand scheme of things, but to everyone else?

"No wonder he was arrogant enough to proclaim that none could ever pose a problem for him. Heh! He has already torn open a massive wound with the Calderans by killing the overseeing personnel, and yet nothing has been done, or rather, nothing could be done about it, so his arrogance was justified." I had to admit it: this revelation just upped the emperor’s image in my mind.

Nothing was more worth respecting than a man who looks at his oppressors and goes

’Fuck this circus, I’m burning it down!’ Something that was fundamentally different from his ancestor, who had instead decided to ingratiate himself with his oppressors all because he was chasing some higher heights.

"Heh! Lin Feng, I believe the true protagonist template should belong to my new brother, don’t you think?"

Was it petty, laughing and mocking a man that had already perished? Yes.

But when comparing that man with his descendant that ONLY had one wife he was obsessed with, had a goddamn spine, and could raise the middle finger to his dictators, the mockery was absolutely justified.

"Did the emperor give a reason for his actions?" The strained voice of the sect master snapped me out of my thoughts as I looked up at the man who was trying to hold back his killing intent from pouring out.

It seemed the man really hated the fact that Xuan had beheaded an elder of his without so much as a little bit of consideration for his face.

"The emperor didn’t give any reasons for his actions, and we didn’t dare to ask."

"I see. In that case, I may need to convene an audience with the emperor and have him explain himself properly."

"Ohh? An audience with Xuan? This seems fun. Wonder if I can go watch?"

"If you asked, I’m sure that bubbly fool would allow it." Shaia sighed.

"Alright, once this boring introduction is done, I’ll reach out."

...

...

"Pardon me for getting sidetracked, dear disciples." The sect master finally got his shit intact as he finally decided to so graciously address us.

"My name is Shen Wu Zhen, but you may all address me as Sect Master Wu Zhen or Sect Master Wu. The designation matters not, since from today onward, you can all consider yourselves my children." The man gave off a subtle feeling of warm camaraderie, the same feeling one would get when sitting next to a fireplace during a cold winter—an inviting warmth that promised safety. But I wasn’t paying attention to his act; no, my focus was on something else.

"Shen? Wasn’t that the same surname as the bastard sworn brother of Lin Feng? The one who fucked his woman and plotted to kill him?"

"So you can remember such a detail, but can’t recall the made-up names you created a moment ago?" Sana chimed in just in time to take a jab at my chronic forgetfulness of bullshit.

"Hahaha.. very funny. Now tell me what I want to know."

"You’re right. This Wu Zhen is indeed a descendant of the same Shen Yin who had stabbed Lin Feng in the back and helped get the man killed."

What are the odds?

That the current emperor and sect master were descendants of the same two that had had an incident all those numbers of centuries ago.

The only difference now being that the current emperor wasn’t a gallivanting, naive fellow that goes around trusting random people and calling them brother despite barely knowing anything about them.

"Are we talking about the same person that literally started calling you brother after knowing you for only two days? That same person is who you’re claiming is better than Lin Feng, who had trusted a man that had been with him for ages?" Shaia.

"Hey, Xuan isn’t the one that got cucked and nearly got himself permanently killed."

"Yet! He hasn’t gotten himself killed yet, or are you forgetting the fact that his sister is literally in the plot against him?"

"Somehow I don’t really fear that scenario. Not with my dearest protagonist in the mix. I’m sure something will work itself out, and if it doesn’t, I’ll probably have blown everything sky-high before such a scenario ever plays out anyway. Let’s see who dares touch my brother while I’m here." I didn’t even bother to hide the murderous intent in my thoughts as I let my words out.

Xuan had dared call me brother. In that case, I can only be a brother and watch out for the bubbly fella.

"Haa... you’re hopeless. Already getting so overprotective in just two days, haa..." Shaia.

"You might be right, Sister Shaia, but Husband always does look the most handsome when he’s thinking murderously in a protective manner." Terra.

"Indeed. Handsome and very, very hot-looking. Damn. I don’t think I can hold out for much longer. When are we putting little Lucien into a cocoon?"

BONK!

"OWW!! Why!?"

"Don’t go wanting to chase away the little child because you’re horny." Terra.

"Pooh..."

""Pft.. ahahahahaha..."" Both Sana and Shaia burst out laughing as they watched Elira get lectured by Terra, something that had become the norm over the six months we spent in ’hibernation’ as Elira had tried all she could to get rid of the little man and get herself satisfied.

I could only shake my head as I finally turned my attention to the concluding rambling of the sect master.

"The elders will show you to your new residence, where you shall be taking up stay while they explain the basic things you need to understand about the sect and its inner workings. Anything else you’re confused about, you can go to the resource hall and ask one of the elders for an information crystal."

The newly christened disciples nodded calmly as they took in the sect master’s words seriously.

"Alright, that shall be all for now. I look forward to your excellence six months from now, as that shall be when the outer sect tournament shall begin. I wish you all the best and hope you strive to get into the inner sect as soon as possible, for that is where the true challenge lies."

"YES, SECT MASTER WU!"

"Alright then. I shall delay you no further." Giving the grand elders a subtle nod, the man waved his sleeve and disappeared.

.... 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

"Alright, everyone gather round. The sect’s outer elders shall lead you to your residential areas. Listen to them and take notes, and we shall see you all at the outer sect tournament." The leading female grand elder called out as multiple figures in starry silver robes filed out in proper fashion, leading us out batch by batch.

It was finally time to make ourselves at home.

"Time to live the sect life then." I couldn’t help but think in anticipation as I followed behind the elder, getting ready to enter my new quarters.

*******

A/N: Hah! Didn’t this bastard not spend anytime in Aeternum? Why are they giving him another academy like setting?

Well, anyways....
