Chapter 466: Chapter 254: Jiang Yixia Has Gotten Used to Having Lu Fan Around
The moon was quite round tonight, bright and full as it hung in the sky.
She watched it for a long while, the corners of her lips turning up in a smile.
Jiang Yixia was up bright and early on Sunday morning.
She packed her things and called Jiang Ming to check on Jiang Guoqiang’s condition.
"Sis, Dad’s in great spirits today. He was clamoring to be discharged first thing this morning," Jiang Ming said with a laugh on the other end of the line.
"Okay, you handle the discharge papers. I’m heading straight to the flower shop. Let Mom know, will you?"
"Got it. Be careful on your way."
Just as she arrived at the flower shop, Jiang Yixia’s phone rang.
It was Lu Fan.
"You there?" he asked with a chuckle.
"I’m here, at the shop," Jiang Yixia replied, sweeping trimmed leaves and branches into a dustpan.
"Have you eaten?"
"Not yet. I’ll eat in a bit."
"I ordered some takeout for you. It’ll be there soon."
Jiang Yixia was taken aback for a moment. "Why did you... again?"
"Don’t say anything. It’s already ordered. You can’t just let the delivery person make the trip for nothing, can you?" Lu Fan said with a laugh.
Jiang Yixia sighed. "Fine. What did you order?"
"Your favorites. You’ll see when it gets there."
After hanging up, Jiang Yixia placed her phone on the counter and continued cleaning.
Twenty minutes later, the food arrived.
It was in an insulated bag. Opening it, she found a serving of beef chow fun, an order of boiled shrimp, and some baby napa cabbage in superior broth, along with a bowl of slow-cooked soup.
They were all her favorites.
She stared at the dishes for a long while before picking up her phone and sending Lu Fan a message: [Got the food.]
Lu Fan: [Eat it while it’s hot. Don’t let it get cold.]
Jiang Yixia: [Okay.]
She sat down, picked up her chopsticks, and placed a piece of the chow fun in her mouth.
The beef was tender, the rice noodles were smooth, and it was all cooked to perfection.
She took a sip of the soup. It was warm, savory, and sweet.
As she ate, the corners of her lips turned up in a smile.
’This scumbag... he even knows exactly what I like to eat.’
Sometimes, she really couldn’t bring herself to hate him.
She shook her head helplessly and continued eating.
After finishing the meal, she washed the insulated bag, set it aside to dry, and made a mental note to return it to him next time.
In the afternoon, a few customers came to the flower shop and bought some bouquets, keeping her busy for a while.
In the evening, Sister Li from the dry cleaner next door came over to chat. Holding a cup of tea, she leaned against the counter with a wide grin. "Sister Xia, how’s your father?"
"He’s been discharged and is recovering at home," Jiang Yixia answered while trimming flower stems.
"That’s good, that’s good." Sister Li nodded, then leaned in closer and lowered her voice. "Hasn’t President Lu been around lately?"
"He’s busy," Jiang Yixia said without looking up.
"Busy with what? No matter how busy he is, he should still make time to see you," Sister Li said with a smile. "I can tell he’s serious about you. You should stop being so reserved."
Jiang Yixia looked up at her. "Sister Li, why are you always taking his side?"
"I’m just worried about you!" Sister Li patted her hand. "You’re not getting any younger, and you’re still single. You finally met a good man who treats you well—why aren’t you holding on tight?"
Jiang Yixia didn’t respond, continuing to trim her flowers.
Seeing that Yixia wasn’t engaging, Sister Li didn’t press the matter and left with her tea.
The flower shop fell quiet.
Jiang Yixia arranged the trimmed flowers in a vase, took a step back to look, and adjusted their angle.
Her phone chimed.
She picked it up and saw a message from Lu Fan: [Dinner tonight?]
Jiang Yixia thought for a moment, then replied: [Can’t today. I have to prep for next week’s wedding. Busy.]
Lu Fan: [I can bring you dinner then?]
Jiang Yixia: [No need. I’ll just grab a bite of something myself.]
Lu Fan: [Alright then. Get your work done, but don’t stay up too late.]
Jiang Yixia: [Okay.]
Putting her phone down, she opened her laptop and started to flesh out the plan for the wedding decorations.
She noted down every detail: the dimensions of the main stage, the height of the arch, the number of dining tables, the quantity of flowers needed.
Halfway through, she suddenly stopped, leaned back in her chair, and stared at the ceiling.
A thought suddenly popped into her head.
’If Lu Fan were here, he’d definitely be sitting in the corner, flipping through a magazine and looking up at me from time to time.’
She shook her head, chasing the thought away, and went back to writing the plan.
But as she continued to write, Jiang Yixia couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
It was as if she’d already gotten used to having that guy around.
"That bastard... I told him not to get so close to me all the time. Once I get used to it, I’ll get all clingy..." Jiang Yixia gritted her teeth, muttering curses under her breath.
