Chapter 467 - 255: A Family of Four, Reunited
Chapter 467: Chapter 255: A Family of Four, Reunited
In early January, Jinling was very cold.
But that could hardly conceal the students’ excitement.
The last final exam was *Principles of Management*.
Jiang Sifan wrote the last word, put down his pen, and scanned the exam paper from top to bottom.
He’d written everything he could. Whether it was right or not was another matter.
He looked up at the clock at the front of the classroom. There were still fifteen minutes left.
The classroom was quiet, with only the rustle of papers and a few occasional coughs.
He leaned back in his chair and stared blankly out the window, his mind not on the exam, but on tomorrow.
Tomorrow, he was going back to Yangcheng.
Wen Wan was going too.
He turned his head and, from two rows away, saw Wen Wan sitting by the window. She was writing with her head down, loose strands of hair falling across her forehead and hiding half her face.
She wrote quickly, the tip of her pen scratching across the paper. She would occasionally pause to think before continuing.
Jiang Sifan watched her for a few seconds before turning back and checking his exam paper one more time.
The bell to turn in the exams rang.
The classroom instantly burst into life. Some people stretched, others compared answers, and some rushed out, shouting, "Finally free!"
Jiang Sifan stood up, turned in his paper at the professor’s desk, and picked up his pencil case before heading for the door.
Wen Wan had also handed in her exam and was walking over from the other side of the room.
They met in the hallway. She smiled at him, her eyes curving into crescents.
"Come on, let’s get some lunch," Jiang Sifan said cheerfully.
"Okay." Wen Wan stuffed her pencil case into her backpack and fell into step beside him.
The hallway was bustling with people coming and going. Some dragged suitcases downstairs, while others stood by the stairwell on the phone, saying, "I’m done, I’m done with exams. The ticket’s for tomorrow."
The two of them were squeezed by the crowd, their shoulders brushing. Jiang Sifan reached out to shield her arm, worried she would get bumped.
"Have you finished packing?" Jiang Sifan asked.
"Almost. Just one suitcase," Wen Wan said. She suddenly remembered something and blushed. "Oh, right. Can you help me decide what to wear? I can’t make up my mind."
"Anything is fine. You look good in everything."
Wen Wan shot him a glare and whispered with a frown, "I’m being serious."
"I’m being serious, too," Jiang Sifan said with a smile.
The two of them went downstairs and headed for the cafeteria.
A gust of wind sent the last few leaves spiraling down.
Wen Wan hunched her shoulders and pulled her scarf up higher.
Jiang Sifan walked on her left, blocking the wind for her.
The cafeteria wasn’t crowded. Most students had finished their exams and were either packing in their dorms or had already left.
They got their food and found a table by the window.
Jiang Sifan took a bite of food, but he stopped chewing midway through.
"What’s wrong?" Wen Wan asked.
"Nothing." He smiled and went back to eating.
He had just remembered something.
He Lingyi had texted him yesterday, saying her exams weren’t for another three days. After that, she was coming to Yangcheng.
He hadn’t told Wen Wan yet.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her; he just didn’t know how to bring it up.
"Wen Wan," he called out.
"Hm?"
"Um..." He opened his mouth, then closed it again. "Never mind. Let’s eat first."
Wen Wan glanced at him but didn’t press the issue.
After lunch, Jiang Sifan walked Wen Wan back to her dorm.
Downstairs from the women’s dormitory, several girls were dragging suitcases out the door, and luggage was piled up by the entrance.
Wen Wan stood on the steps and glanced back at him.
"Are we still having dinner together tonight?"
"Yes. I’ll come find you."
Wen Wan nodded and turned to go upstairs.
Jiang Sifan stood downstairs, watching her back disappear into the stairwell. Then he took out his phone and pulled up his chat with He Lingyi.
She had sent several messages.
[Brother Sifan, I checked! There are tickets available for the day after my exam!]

[Look at the time. It gets to Yangcheng a little after ten in the morning, just in time for lunch.]
[Will you come pick me up then?]
Jiang Sifan stared at the messages for a long moment, then typed back: [I will.]
After sending the reply, he shoved his phone into his pocket and headed for his dorm.
He Lingyi replied quickly: [Okay! I’m booking the ticket then! I’ll treat you to a meal when I get there!]
Jiang Sifan didn’t look at his phone again.
Back in her dorm, Wen Wan dragged her suitcase out from under the bed, unzipped it, and laid it open on the floor.
She had already packed most of her things. Her clothes were neatly folded and stacked one by one inside the suitcase.
She squatted down, stared at the clothes, and zoned out for a while.
Her roommate walked past and asked curiously, "Wen Wan, what time are you leaving tomorrow?"
"In the morning."
"Oh, okay. Get some sleep then, don’t stay up too late." After saying that, her roommate climbed into bed and drew the curtain.
Wen Wan murmured an acknowledgment and continued packing.
She took the cream-colored overcoat out of her closet, shook it out, and held it up to herself in the mirror.
In the mirror, her face was a little flushed. She wasn’t sure if it was from the heat or her nerves.
She picked up her phone, intending to send Jiang Sifan a message. She typed a few words, deleted them, and in the end only sent one line: [I’m all packed.]
Jiang Sifan replied: [I’m almost done too. Get some sleep. See you tomorrow.]
Wen Wan: [See you tomorrow.]
She put down her phone, carefully folded the overcoat, and placed it in the suitcase. Then she double-checked to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything.
ID card, student ID, charger, the tea she’d bought for Jiang Sifan’s mother.
She confirmed each item one by one, then zipped up the suitcase and stood it in the corner.
Lying in bed, she stared at the ceiling.
The dorm room was quiet. Her roommate was already asleep, her breathing even and steady.
Outside, the wind rustled through the tree branches.
She turned over to face the wall and closed her eyes.
Her mind was a mess.
’What does Jiang Sifan’s mom look like?’
’What if she doesn’t like me?’
’What should I say when I meet her for the first time?’
’Should I offer to help with chores?’
’What if I say the wrong thing?’
