Claimed by the Mad Lycan King
Chapter 155: EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE
This was Zade’s so-called important business; Zade cuddled Seara on the bed and closed his eyes. He didn’t sleep because his mind was running five hundred miles per hour.
Every possibility led to the same conclusion: his mate was in danger. They would come for her. He should have been more careful when he handled this matter, and the first fire in the watchtower should have been a sign for him.
In terms of preventing these incidents from happening, there were a lot of ’he should have’ moments.
"Do you want to tell me?" Seara finally asked after a long silence. She knew Zade was not sleeping because of how tense his body was. She felt his muscles throb as his heart was beating so fast.
The light from the sun filtered through the window; it was close to afternoon, and they had been like this for more than an hour.
Thirty minutes ago, Ace had called Zade, knocking on the door, saying he was expected to be in the main building to have a meeting with the other two Lycans, but Zade told him to leave and said he would come after lunch.
It was not like Zade didn’t know how important the discussion about the devils was, but he simply needed more time to think, because it was not only the devils that he had to deal with, but also the Lycans who would eye his mate as an object.
Though it was essential to let them know what Seara was capable of doing, he should have found a better way to reveal it.
"Jeremy is in the hospital," Zade said. He still had his eyes closed, resting his head against Seara’s chest and absentmindedly playing with her hair.
"What? What happened?" Seara stopped caressing his back.
"You are right; they are the devils." Zade then told her about what happened last night in a brief version and then lifted his head to look at her. "I want you to go to the hospital with Zephyr. Stay with Leia."
Seara was shocked when she learned what happened to Jeremy, but she felt there was something more in it that Zade didn’t tell her. People might call her overthinking, but she did not feel at ease.
"You are coming with me too, right?" Seara asked carefully.
"No." Zade shook his head. "There are a lot of things that I have to deal with," he said. The reason still made sense.
Seara could imagine what Zade had to deal with after last night. Altair looked agitated too.
"But you will come to see me in the hospital, right?" Seara clutched his shirt. The prospect of being away from him made her anxious, but she wanted to be there for Leia too.
"I will come to the hospital once the situation is under control," Zade promised her.
"Okay." The answer came as a whisper; she pressed her lips and felt agitated. "Is there anything else that I can do?"
"Stay safe. That’s all I need you to do." Zade pressed his lips against hers a little bit longer.
After that, Seara prepared a few clothes for her to bring to the hospital because she would stay two or three days there to accompany Leia.
She didn’t like to go back there, but she would do it for Leia. She also cared about Jeremy.
"Zade." Seara turned around before entering the car; Zephyr would drive her to the hospital. And there was one more car that would follow them with four warriors. Two women and two men.
Zade realized his mistake and learned his lesson from what happened in the bathroom when Seara was in the public area. She needed at least one woman by her side so she could be better protected.
He also confirmed that the four of them were trustworthy, and Seara didn’t have any dreadful feelings about them. The only exception was Jared; she felt a bit intimidated by him because this warrior was so tall and well-built—an imposing figure at two meters tall and weighing around a hundred kilograms of flesh and muscle.
"Yes?" Zade held the door open for her and stared at his mate, who looked hesitant.
"What about Caylin? You don’t do anything to her, right?" Seara fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve. She was wearing a grey sweater and jeans, and her hair was tied at the nape of her neck.
"No. She is fine, but she is under close observation. I can’t let her get close to you for the meantime before I can be sure that she is not a danger to you."
"I can verify whether she is under the influence or not." Seara missed Caylin, while Maisie... it was not clear to her whether she had betrayed the pack or the devils had taken over her body.
"I know. But I can’t give her to you again." Zade kissed her forehead. "She will be fine; she will work as usual," Zade reassured her.
Caylin had worked again after the investigation didn’t find any fault with her, but her movement was restricted.
"Okay." Seara finally nodded, tiptoed over, and kissed him before getting into the car. She hugged him a little longer, too. "Please be safe."
"I will."
And with that, Seara left for the hospital with Zephyr and the other four warriors.
Meanwhile, Zade went to the main building, where Altair, Asher, and their gammas had been waiting for him.
"You shouldn’t have sent her away." Altair gave Zade a disapproving look.
"It is safer to send her away." Zade sat down on the sofa, with Ace sitting next to him. "There will be a blow-up in this place."
"What do you mean?" Altair frowned.
"One of the devils last night used the body of Oliver Brooks. He comes from a family that is close to the government. His brother is a chief of police."
While Jude’s father was the business partner, Oliver’s older brother took a different career.
"Do you think they will use humans’ resources?" Altair asked grimly.
"Everything is possible."
