Chapter 156: INTERESTING FIGURE

"This body is great," Owen said with a satisfied sigh as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. He was the first son in the Brook family, but he had a huge age gap with his other two siblings.

Right now, the reflection in the mirror showed him a man in his mid-forties staring back at him with his brown eyes and black hair with a few streaks of grey.

He closed his eyes, and he savored the memories of this body.

Owen returned home at the wrong time, and it couldn’t be worse than this timing. A vicious smirk rose at the corner of his mouth when he noticed the importance of his status for this country.

Meanwhile, Oliver was sitting on the edge of the bed inside his brother’s room. He stared at him with a complicated look.

"What are you going to do with Jude?" Oliver realized that, once the devil changed hosts, the old body would be gone. It would vanish like smoke, and left them with a missing person.

The problem was there would be enough evidence that he was the last person with Jude, which would put him into trouble.

But one other thing that Oliver was pissed off about was the fact that he couldn’t see Seara. He was in the same building as her, but he couldn’t meet or even see her shadow.

"This is interesting." Owen opened his eyes. He ignored Oliver’s concern completely as he learned more about the complication of Owen’s status and what he could do with it.

"Yes, I just arrived at the hospital," Seara said through the phone when Zade called her. She entered the lobby with Zephyr close to her, while her four bodyguards kept their distance so as not to make it very obvious.

Seara didn’t like to be here. After spending her time for months under Jane’s close surveillance, she felt agitated whenever she had to go back. Somehow, her mind tricked her into thinking that she was going to be locked away in this place again.

Jane and Seara were working on that. There were a lot of things that Seara had to work on, but Jane always said that her progress was great.

"Okay, I will stay with Zeph," Seara replied to Zade’s warning. "I love you too," she said sheepishly as they reached Jeremy’s bedroom and ended the phone call.

Zephyr rolled his eyes when he heard that. "You just met an hour ago; why do you act like you have not seen him for a year?"

Seara stopped before she pushed open the door; she tilted her head and looked at Zephyr innocently. "Because a second without him feels like a lifetime."

Hearing that, Zephyr grimaced so hard that he wanted to gag. "Never say something like that when I am eating, okay?"

Seeing the strong reaction, Seara laughed. Obviously, she would do it again later.

But both of them schooled their faces before they entered Jeremy’s bedroom. Leia was devastated, so it was not proper to enter the room while laughing, no matter what the reason was.

When they came inside, Leia was not alone; Chloe was already there. No one knew that she had left the residence and gone here by herself the moment she learned what happened to Jeremy.

"Oh, Seara." Leia stood up and then hugged Seara tightly. "You are here, good. Good." She kissed Seara’s cheeks as tears streamed down her face.

She looked gaunt and pale. It looked as if she had aged ten years.

Seara hugged Leia back and wiped her tears. "How is Jeremy?"

"Rio said he will be fine." Leia let go of her and let Seara see Jeremy. He was still sleeping, and there was a white bandage around his neck. "He woke up this morning for a while, but not for long before he fell asleep again."

Leia was relieved to have Seara here. If Zade were right, then Seara’s presence would put her mind at ease.

Leia had just learned from Caspian last night about the situation and what the devil could do now. This new ability of the devils was, to say the least, terrifying. As a result, Leia had been on edge every time a nurse came over to check on Jeremy’s condition.

She couldn’t help but think they could be the devils in disguise. Even when Rio came, she was still on edge.

Yet, Caspian said they also discovered that Seara could feel them, which gave them leverage to face the demons.

And with Seara here, Leia could be at ease, because she would be able to tell if there was something not right with the people who checked on her son.

She was thinking of apologizing to Zade later for her strong reaction to blame him for what happened to Jeremy.

"Rio said that because the wound is deep, he will have a scar," Leia informed Seara, who checked on Jeremy. Her son looked pale, and it was unnerving to see him lie still, since he was very active and vibrant.

"He will be okay," Seara reassured Leia and suggested that she get some rest. "I will stay here; why don’t you get some rest, Mom? You look like you are going to pass out."

"No, I am fine."

However, Seara insisted. She told Leia that she would be here with Zephyr, and also there were a few warriors around the hospital, so nothing could happen to Jeremy.

"A shifter can fall sick too, and if that happened, you will have a hard time taking care of Jeremy."

Leia finally relented. She would leave for the apartment next to the hospital and clean herself up before she returned.

"Please, call me if something happens."

"I will."

And with that, Leia left the room with a few warriors in tow.

Meanwhile, Chloe was still sleeping on the couch; she was willing to sleep there even though she complained when she had to do it in the bungalow.
