Chapter 173: THE HIGH TENSION

  • Next Chapter

"The tension inside the room is very high, Seara. I don’t think you want to go inside," Zephyr kindly reminded Seara. He heard from Ace that she was in distress in the first meeting with those alphas.

"It’s okay; Jeremy will be fine." Seara kept her smile. "I will not do anything; I will just be there."

Zephyr glanced at Jeremy. Even now, he didn’t think the young man was fine. Jeremy blanched, though he tried to put up a brave face.

"What are you planning to do, Seara?" Zephyr narrowed his eyes in curiosity.

The two of them were so eager to help, but wanting to help and becoming actual help were two entirely different things.

Jeremy had been eager to help, but where were they right now?

"I have a plan where we can use this situation to our advantage. I don’t know if it is going to work, but at least let Zade hear it first, right?"

"Are you sure you can talk in front of those alphas and explain it?"

Seara patted Jeremy’s shoulder. "That’s why I brought him. Jeremy will be the one who will explain it—not me."

Zephyr was stunned for a moment and then started laughing. "Yeah, great. If the alpha disagrees, he can take the fall. I think that’s a better idea than having him hole up inside the room."

"What do you mean by that? This is a good plan." Jeremy sulked.

"Wait a moment. I will let Zade know." Zephyr raised his hand; he didn’t let Jeremy complain further.

His eyes glistened when he did mind-link Zade, but it only took less than a minute before Zephyr told them that they could enter.

"That’s fast," Jeremy commented. He thought there would be back-and-forth first before Zade allowed them to enter the meeting, which would give him some time to calm his nerves.

Seara had talked him through the plan in her mind, and it was up to him how to explain it. Even so, he had never talked in front of so many alphas!

Additionally, Seara insisted that Jeremy should be the one to face the consequences because he was the one who messed up.

From the look of it, Seara has now started to learn how to take advantage of the situation.

"When it comes to Zade, Seara’s name brings magic." Zephyr shrugged his shoulders and then knocked on the door to the meeting room.

Zade’s voice could be heard, giving permission for them to come inside.

And the moment the door opened, Seara took a step back. Her first instinct was to run away, but Jeremy caught her hand before she could do that.

"You are not going anywhere," he hissed. "You are the one who puts us in this situation."

"I am helping you," Seara hissed back.

"Are you going in or not?" Zephyr asked with amusement as the two of them hissed like snakes at each other. "They are waiting."

Both Jeremy and Seara poked their heads into the room, and Zephyr was completely right; the tension was very high.

Even though there were only twelve alphas inside the room, this meeting was even worse than when all the alphas were here. The twelve alphas were trying to dominate one another with their plans. This meeting was another form of battle in Seara and Jeremy’s opinion.

Seara pushed Jeremy into the room as she followed behind him. Zephyr, on the other hand, decided to watch how this matter would unfold, so he stepped inside, closed the door, and leaned against it.

"Is there something you want to say?" Alpha Sebastian eyed Jeremy. All of them already knew what happened, and to say they were unhappy with Jeremy was an understatement.

If it were not for the fact that Jeremy was under Zade’s protection, they wouldn’t hold back their punch.

Meanwhile, Seara slipped to Zade’s side while their focus was on Jeremy.

"I have..." Jeremy cleared his throat; his stomach dropped, and he started sweating. "I have an idea," he said, trying so hard to make his voice steady.

Seara grimaced. If she were in Jeremy’s position, she wouldn’t be able to stand straight. Even now, she felt distressed on his behalf.

But Jeremy straightened his back, and the second time he spoke, it sounded better.

"There is a way to fix this. I hope you can listen to this before you make a judgement."

"Everything is ready," one of the personnel of the Quantum Protocol informed Owen. Owen wouldn’t lead the attack on the beach house, but Jack would, since this operation was within his scope.

"Inform Admiral Jack," Owen said.

He would monitor everything from the base. He wanted to see how Zade would fight those humans when they couldn’t even kill them.

It would be fun and entertaining to watch, especially knowing that they would have to go through madness after killing so many people

"Yes, sir," the man said, leaving Owen in the laboratory.

"Where is the new one?" Owen asked the lab assistant, who showed him the newly captured shifter that they managed to catch alive.

"He is eleven years old. He can’t heal as fast as the adult animagus, but we suspect it is because of his young age."

The woman gestured for her assistant to make an incision on the boy’s arm to show Owen how fast they would heal.

"No! Get off me! Get off me!" The boy cried and tried to fight back. But whenever he did so, they would tame him by electrocuting him with the bracelet on his wrist.

And when he couldn’t fight back, a man made a cut on his arm, showing Owen how fast the wound healed.

"That’s very impressive," Owen said. He looked fascinated, as if it were the first time he had witnessed something like this, when in truth, he had more knowledge than anyone in this laboratory.

"Yes, I think by using their healing ability, we can create a cure for human disease."
