Claimed by the Mad Lycan King
Chapter 178: BEING COMPROMISED
Seara could hear her heart beating in her ears because she was so nervous about entering the room. The warriors outside nodded politely at her and opened the door for her.
Inside the room, there were a total of twenty alphas; they were still arguing with Zade about his plan to free Admiral Jack.
This reaction was as Seara had predicted. They were not happy with the plan, and Zade would explain it at length this morning.
However, with one alpha compromised, it was a good thing that he had not yet said anything.
Everyone stopped talking when Seara entered the room. All of their eyes were on her when she walked toward Zade.
She was right; the devil was among the alphas, and she walked toward her mate slowly, fighting the urge to flee from the room or recoil from the dreadful feeling that crept under her skin.
It was almost like the freezing wind in the winter night when Seara walked past Alpha Oscar. She wanted to run from him; as her heart was beating even faster, she was afraid suddenly it would stop.
Seara hastened her steps toward Zade when she had gotten the confirmation that she needed.
Zade seemed to know even before Seara nodded, telling him silently that it was indeed Alpha Oscar who had been compromised.
After attending several meetings, Seara had memorized the name of each alpha and their respective packs. After all, what else could she do in her spare time but learn more about Zade’s territory and gather basic information about the alphas in his domain?
Zade pulled a chair for Seara and stood on her left side, smoothly shielding his mate from potential danger, because Alpha Oscar was standing quite close. He was only three people away from Seara’s left side.
"You can’t do that, King Zade! We went through a lot of trouble to get him, and now you are going to let him go just like that?! I wonder why he is still alive even now!" Alpha Oscar was very vocal about killing Admiral Jack.
His words also riled up the other alphas to go against Zade’s plan.
"Can’t you see how many of the shifters they had killed?!" Alpha Oscar hit his fist on the table. "They killed our children, our people, yet we are going to ask for a negotiation?! Have we forgotten our way? Blood for blood!"
The others echoed the same sentiment, but it was very obvious that Alpha Oscar was the one who actively created the provocation.
He was in his early forties, and based on what Seara had learned, he had a son, who was around the same age as her and two other daughters, a mate... but his life had ended the moment the devil chose him as their host.
This was why Seara insisted on attending every meeting whenever they were going to talk about an important decision. She took a mental note to emphasize this to Zade later.
It was nice and sweet of him to let her get more rest, but it wouldn’t help with their current situation.
"We have to start fighting back! For all the children who were killed and for all our people who were brutally prosecuted!" Alpha Oscar was still talking heatedly when Zade approached him.
Zade didn’t show any murderous intention when he came closer to Alpha Oscar.
"Do you want to start the fight?" Zade asked casually.
"Yes. We have to avenge our people! This can’t be avoided, so we may as well face it head-on!"
Alpha Oscar slammed his fist on the table once again. This time, however, Zade moved so quickly that Seara could only see a shadow of his move as he grabbed a fork from the table and stabbed Alpha Oscar in the hand.
Everyone watched in shock as the scene unfolded, gasping as the king took such an unexpected action. They had not expected him to be this violent.
"Argh!" Alpha Oscar screamed in pain when his legs gave out while his hand was still nailed to the table by the fork.
"King Zade, what is the meaning of this?!" The other alphas immediately moved away slightly, thinking Zade had gone crazy and he might attack them next.
"King Zade, let him go! What have you done?!" Daryl, Oscar’s beta, tried to help, but he stopped in his tracks when Zade gave him a look, telling him to step back.
It was like a physical torture for the beta to go against the king’s order, but in the end, he stood in his place, watching his alpha was howling and cursing.
Zade was very calm; there was no sign of madness. Instead, he swept his gaze to each of them, sending a chill down their spines.
"Come closer and take a look at this," Zade said, nodding at Alpha Oscar’s hand, which was still on the table.
At first, they didn’t understand what he meant, but then they saw the black blood that looked like ink oozed out from the wound where Zade had stabbed Alpha Oscar. He was still wailing in pain, trying to get his hand free from the assault.
"What? No way... how is this possible?"
"This is... how?"
All of them knew the meaning of this. Black blood was the sign of the devils. Even though this was the first time for them to witness it with their own eyes, the information of it had been drilled on them since they were little.
"Tell me where he had gone since the last meeting." Zade asked Daryl. As Alpha Oscar’s beta, he should know about what his alpha had been doing.
Daryl shook his head; he tried to clear his mind because it was too shocking for him.
However, before the beta could say anything, Alpha Oscar began to curse. But this time, it was directed at Seara.
"You are going to die! Do you think you are above all!? You stupid bitch!"
Seara narrowed her eyes. "Enid?"
