Chapter 210: THE AFTERMATH

Seara tried to call Zade a few times to tell him what happened here, but she couldn’t get through to his voicemail.

They talked last night about how Zade had left Wvern City, and he was heading toward Lockheart City with a few people.

From there, Zade would come with Zephyr and Ace.

Lockheart City was the city within Altair’s territory, where the heated fight against the Quantum Protocol happened.

He should be there this morning, but Seara didn’t receive any text or call from him. She thought Zade forgot or he was too busy. Moreover, the day was still long; it would be too much if she started to get worried.

But now, Seara was worried because his phone was not active.

"How is it?" Leigh asked when she saw Seara go to help them.

After the bombing, they could see that there were two main buildings that got hit; one was the pack house, and the other was the council building.

They were trying to save as many casualties as possible with limited equipment; most of the people under the rubble were shifters; therefore, unless they were crushed to death, they should still be alive.

Right now, the hospital was very crowded, and the doctors there needed a lot of hands.

"No. I can’t contact him," Seara said, as she carried a massive rock away. She was trembling; her mind was filled with a lot of thoughts, but she shook them away, trying to focus on the matter at hand. She needed to get the casualties out of the rubble as quickly as possible.

"Seara, you don’t need to help," Leigh said. She felt bad to see how she had cut herself on the jagged rocks and wood from the rubble.

However, when Seara heard that for the ninth time, she was done. "Fine, I will sit down and relax. Will you get me tea and biscuits too?"

Leigh knew she had crossed the line. "I am sorry, I didn’t mean it that way..." Leigh lowered her head, looking regretful. "I only worry because the wounds on your hands will not heal quickly."

Seara looked down and saw that the rocks she was carrying had her blood-coated handprints on them. "It’s fine. Let’s work again."

For Seara, this job became a dozen times harder because she kept hurting herself; even so, she pushed through.

"I am sorry, I shouldn’t have talked to you like that." Seara knew Leigh meant well; she shouldn’t be so snarky with her.

"You don’t need to be sorry, I know." Leigh smiled.

Everyone was on edge right now after the bombing. They were scrambling to look for their loved ones.

Alpha Rune had gone crazy because his family was in the pack house. His mate and his two children were there. He had been digging through the rubble for hours now.

The only thing that gave Seara relief was the fact that Leia and Kayden were not in the pack house. Both of them were on the way to the hospital when the bombing happened. Yes, they had a car crash because of that, but there was nothing major. They survived and were fine.

Asher was not in the pack house either, as he was looking out for the warriors who were going to be sent to the conflicted pack, where the battle was still going on.

Some of the warriors had to be sent back because they were on the verge of madness from the killing. Therefore, they had to rotate them every now and then.

However, they would need a lot of warriors if that were their only method.

"Why do you have to look for his children? Don’t you remember how he treats you?" Sybill asked.

Seara had seen Sybill again a few times since she didn’t consume her medicine. It was difficult to get one, and Zade was not around her; thus, no one paid close attention to this.

Moreover, given how crazy the world was right now, her problem was nothing by comparison.

Not to mention, somehow, she found comfort in seeing Sybill again. She knew she was not real. She was only in her mind, and all she could see was her own reflection.

But it also gave her comfort to know that she was not alone and that she had someone to talk to, even if only in her mind.

"Shut up, Sybill," Seara said, as she continued to dig more into the rubble. She talked in a whispery voice, yet Sybill could hear her perfectly; even if she only talked in her head, Sybill would understand.

"It is better for you to help in the hospital."

"I don’t know what to do there, and they are too busy to teach me. I will be a burden if I go there," Seara explained, as she moved one more big rock.

Sybill sighed in annoyance; she sat not so far from Seara and lifted her head to look up at the sky. "You should move to that part if you want to find someone."

Sybill pointed her finger at her left side, and Seara lifted her head to look at the part that Sybill showed her.

"You may find something there. No one has searched at that spot." Sybill smiled harmlessly at her. "You and Leigh have been searching at the same spot for hours, but there is no result. Try a different one. Start from there."

Was she crazy for listening to her? Seara thought about it, but Sybill could hear her thoughts and laughed.

"They already call you crazy. You have nothing to lose to listen to me now. You used to listen to me. Remember, it used to be only you and me in that dungeon."

Seara was hesitant, but she finally moved to the spot that Sybill pointed at, and she walked past Leigh. "Where are you going?" Leigh asked with confusion.

However, Seara didn’t answer her and started digging until she heard a weak cry from beneath the rubble.

"See? I told you..." Sybill said smugly.
