Chapter 211: IT WOULD BE ON YOU!
"Leigh!" Seara called for her.
Leigh stood a few meters away from the spot where Seara was digging frantically, the cries growing louder. As Leigh approached, she too could hear the sound.
"Oh, heaven! There is a child!"
Leigh told the others to help in Seara’s spot, saying there was a child in the rubble. Meanwhile, Seara and Sybill were still crouching down there, with Sybill grinning from ear to ear.
Sybill was so different from the figure in the dungeon when they were trapped there for years. She looked more... free. She smiled more often, and she looked relaxed, just like right now when she was sitting on the rubble basking under the sunlight.
But her figure disappeared when five warriors came over with Leigh to check the spot Seara had found. This time, Seara was not scared anymore, since she knew Sybill was not real.
"Oh, get more people!" One of the warriors said there was a massive chunk of wall that covered it, and they couldn’t get heavy equipment until three hours later; that was what Asher had confirmed as he tried to coordinate with other warriors and alphas.
This must be the first time he was really going down to business and was active.
"Come here, Seara, let them do it." Leigh grabbed Seara and took her away from there. They could lift some pieces of walls, but this one was obviously not within their strength.
Seara immediately stood up and cleared the area as more warriors came together to move the wall.
But even after fifteen warriors came, and Alpha Rune also helped, the wall didn’t want to budge, and the cry was getting weaker and weaker.
"Hold on, son! Hold on, son!" Rune was frantic, soot covered his body, and his shirt was tattered, but he didn’t care; his son was down there, and he was going to get him no matter what. "I will get you."
He rubbed his face roughly, leaving trails of tears on his cheek. The fierce alpha was crying because he was worried sick about his child.
No matter how annoying he was during the meeting and how condescending he was toward Seara, he was still a parent. He loved his family wholeheartedly.
"Tell him to lift the wall enough to get someone inside and get the boy out," Sybill said. Suddenly, she was right next to Seara, which startled her.
"Are you sure?" Seara asked Sybill, giving her a look of disbelief.
"What? What did you say?" Leigh asked when she heard Seara say something, but Seara shook her head.
"No, nothing." Seara forgot Leigh was right next to her, and both of them watched the warriors and the alphas unblinking.
Meanwhile, in the distance, there were more casualties found; some of them were still alive, but some of them were dead. A handful of people couldn’t be recognized either.
"Yes, look, you can see the gap? That’s enough for someone your size to slip under and get the baby out." Sybill pointed her fingers at the gap.
And out of instinct, Seara moved closer to see it clearly, whether Sybill was telling the truth or not. She was right, though. There was enough of a gap for her to slide under.
Seeing this, Seara moved closer, which caught Leigh off guard. She tried to grab Seara, but she was already next to Alpha Rune to check.
"What the fuck are you doing there?!" Alpha Rune was livid. "Get her out of here, or I will kick her out!" He yelled at Leigh to get Seara away.
Yet, Seara crouched down to see the gap under the wall, and she found out there was enough room for someone to crawl under.
"Shut up!" Seara stood up; she was angry now. "Don’t you want to save your son?!"
Why would this alpha fight her when her intention was to save his son too? He wouldn’t snap if it was another warrior who came closer and checked the situation.
Alpha Rune startled for a brief moment, but anger surged up again; he didn’t even wait to hear Seara’s explanation.
He grabbed her by the collar and yanked her away. He wanted to throw her to the rubble if it were not for Leigh, who stepped in and pushed the alpha as harshly as she could.
In the distance, Jared and Kayden saw this, and the two of them immediately came over, leaving their search in the rubble of the building for the survivors.
"Throw her away!" Alpha Rune yelled so loudly that all of the warriors grimaced as he used his alpha’s voice.
The atmosphere was heated because this time, Seara actually fought back. His alpha’s voice didn’t have any effect on her, as she snapped back at him.
"Do you want to save your son?! I have a way to save him! But you need to cooperate too!" Seara was trembling; she was not sure whether it was because she was scared or if she was actually angry. The adrenaline was so high that she felt slightly dizzy.
Thankfully, Jared and Kayden came in time; they put themselves between Seara and Alpha Rune, though they didn’t know what the matter was. They should have searched for the survivors, not fought around.
Why would Alpha Rune pick a fight with Seara at a time like this?
"Cooperate with you?" Alpha Rune scoffed. "Do you think you are stronger than the rest of the people here? If twenty warriors can’t lift that damn wall, what makes you think you can? Because that’s the only way you can help."
Seara was livid now. She straightened her back, standing on the top of her toes, though it didn’t make her taller than Alpha Rune.
"Maybe you have to use your brain instead of your strength. I said I have a way; there is another way to save your son! Look, I am here to help, not to fight with you. If your son died, then it would be on you!"
