Chapter 213: SHE IS MY SISTER!
"Don’t think too much about it. I will do it even if it is not your son." Seara walked toward the wreckage and gave Alpha Rune a side-eye look. "Holding you responsible for anything is the last thing on my mind."
What Seara meant was subtle when she spoke of how the alpha had treated her disrespectfully—and how, even now, the man had neither apologized nor taken responsibility for his behavior.
Clearly, Alpha Rune understood that, but he couldn’t lash out at Seara when she was currently the only one who could save his son.
Swallowing his pride, Alpha Rune held his tongue.
On the other hand, Silas, who watched everything unfold and realized what Seara was going to do, immediately approached her. He grabbed her by the elbow and stopped her attempt to go on with her plan.
"What are you trying to do?" Silas asked in a low voice, but someone put their hand on his shoulder, and it was Jared.
"Let her go," Jared said sternly. "Mind your behavior, beta Silas; you shouldn’t touch her recklessly."
The warning made Silas furious. He glared at Jared, but the warrior was almost two meters tall and was well built—the typical warrior’s body.
Silas himself was not small; he was one hundred eighty-five centimeters tall, but with Jared’s height, the warrior still towered above him.
"Hand off, warrior. She is my sister; I don’t need permission to touch my sister," Silas growled angrily, his grip on Seara tightened. "Shouldn’t you protect her? What are you doing standing there and doing nothing when she is going to risk her life?"
Seeing the disturbance and how Silas tried to delay the evacuation of his child, Alpha Rune stepped in, and he punched him in the face.
The punch was abrupt and actually uncalled for. Alpha Rune didn’t need to punch Silas to make his point, but right now, he was agitated, and he wanted it to be done so he could hold his son; yet, this beta tried to stop the rescue.
All of the people there were surprised, including Seara and Jared. She almost got dragged along with Silas when he fell because he was still holding her; thankfully, Alpha Rune caught her in time and yanked her back.
Good timing, even though her arm was hurt now from being yanked so harshly.
"Alpha Rune!" Rexton immediately came over, and he stood in front of Silas to face the other alpha. The warriors were tensing up as they were ready to jump into a fight to defend their alphas.
However, Alpha Rune had been an alpha for decades, while Rexton used to be a beta. Moreover, Alpha Rune was born into the role, unlike Rexton, who had just been given the title around a year ago.
Because of that, he knew what he should do and how to assert his dominance.
"If he disrupts the evacuation one more time, I will make sure he will be buried under the rubble. Remember where you are, Alpha Rexton." There was a hint of a mocking tone in the way Alpha Rune called Rexton an alpha.
All of them knew Rexton wouldn’t get the title if King Zade didn’t cripple Daven, and King Asher had personally demoted him from his position.
At this point, it was safe to say that Rexton was the weakest alpha among them all, and he hated to be reminded of that; even so, there was nothing he could do to change that.
"What are you waiting for?" Alpha Rune shifted his attention to Seara.
"Don’t order me around; I am not your people," Seara said sharply, as she swatted his hand that still held her arm. She threw a nasty glare at the alpha, and he was a little bit taken aback by how terrifying the look in Seara’s eyes was right now.
Despite not having her own wolf spirit, Seara managed to pull off such a stern look. That was not an assertiveness that anyone could pull off. You should be the daughter of a beta at least, for you to appear fierce.
And after that, Seara walked toward the rubble and ordered the warriors to lift the wall. Everyone snapped from their reverie and immediately went to work.
Alpha Rune took the command, as the warriors were ready.
"Silas!" Rexton hissed when Silas shrugged off his grip and darted toward them. Rexton’s first instinct was that Silas was going to cause more problems, but instead, he stood next to Alpha Rune.
The alpha looked confused and was ready to punch him again until he realized the beta wanted to help. He wouldn’t be so petty as not to accept the help when his son needed it, so he didn’t say anything and assumed the command, while Seara had folded her sweater sleeve and crouched down, ready to crawl inside.
"On my count!" Alpha Rune’s voice roared. "One... two... Lift!"
At the same time, they lifted the wall, and Seara didn’t waste a second to crawl inside. She needed to move fast because she didn’t know how long those warriors could hold the wall.
If something went wrong, she would be trapped here and even squeezed to death.
She was grateful that she was not afraid of a narrow place; if anything, it was a kind of comfort for Seara, since she used to be afraid of a spacious area.
The sharp edges of the pebbles grazed her skin, but she kept calling for Elio. She met with the boy a few times during her stay in the pack house.
"Elio? Where are you? Can you make a sound?"
They were worried because Elio had stopped crying around the time that Silas started making a ruckus.
"Elio, don’t be afraid; you will be fine. Where are you? Can you make some noise so I will know your location?" Seara stretched out her ears to hear any noise, but there was nothing.
It meant Elio could have passed out, and it was dangerous.
