Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 6: Newlyweds don’t live separately
Callahan moved, instantly catching her body the moment her head bumped into his chest.
"Sienna... Sienna..."
Sienna’s breathing was growing heaving every second.
And she could hear Callahan’s voice somewhere above her head, calling out her name.
In all the years of knowing him, it was probably the first time she heard him calling out her first name.
And his voice was gentle, caring and completely different from the Callahan Hawke she was familiar with.
...
"Ugh...’’ Sienna felt a splitting headache the moment she opened her eyes, blinded by the glare of the bright ceiling lights.
Her gaze landed on Callahan who was sitting on her bed, like a statue from the romantic age.
But what caught her attention more than his beauty was the fact that one of his arms was completely extended towards her.
And like a koala hanging from a little branch, she was fully clinging onto his arm, both her hands wrapped around it.
"Awake?" Callahan’s voice sounded calm and nonchalant, making her wonder if she was hearing things earlier.
"I..." Sienna loosened her grip and released his hand, "Have you been sitting like this all this time?"
"27 minutes precisely," The man glanced at the clock as he straightened the sleeve of his suit jacket.
"You didn’t have to..."
"When I tried to take you to hospital, you got feral. I couldn’t be sure if you bite or not. So, I stayed put."
Sienna ran her fingers through her hair as she sat up, "Thank you for earlier. I don’t know... Maybe I have been a little tired lately," she avoided his gaze, "So... you witnessed the show in the reception earlier?"
Callahan paused, "Good show."
For a moment, Sienna thought he was going to question her. But when he opened his mouth, he did not mention a single word about it.
She couldn’t tell whether it was because he believed her words or he wasn’t interested in her affairs.
But either way, it was a good thing.
"Pack a bag," Callahan stood up.
"Huh?"
The man turned to her, raising a brow, "Were you expecting us to live separately?"
"Yes, we can’t..."
"Newlyweds don’t live separately on the day 1 of their marriage. Since you have declared your relationship status, you might as well make it believable."
Sienna opened her mouth to say something but she was stumped for words, "You are right. If I continue staying here, it would raise suspicions..." she paused, "Give me 10 minutes, I don’t have many things I would be taking with me," she looked at him.
Once Callahan left the penthouse, Sienna got out of the bed and walked around her house. She realized that although she told him that it would take her 10 minutes to pack, it wouldn’t actually take her more than 2 minutes.
In the huge penthouse, other than her essentials, the things she wanted to take with her could be counted on one hand.
Five minutes later, when Sienna stepped out of the elevator, her footsteps slowed.
There was a new face at the reception.
"Miss Qing," the young woman bowed professionally, holding up a bouquet of flowers, "The manager is held back by some important affairs but he has extended his apology to you. In the future, such things will never happen again."
Sienna accepted the flowers.
Lost in her thoughts, she walked out of the main gates and got inside the black maybach parked outside.
Callahan looked over. In one hand, she was carrying a bouquet of flowers and a black bag. And on her other hand, there was a chessboard and a small pouch with bunny ears.
Noticing his lingering on the chessboard, Sienna tilted it towards him, "It’s my mother’s. She spent a considerable amount of time teaching me how to play. Although I learned how to play chess, I never liked it. But now that she is gone, it has become one of the remaining memories I have of her."
Even though the Hawke and Qing families were not family friends, and did not share the same path in business, they were both a part of high society.
As a result, they had been a part of the same school, same circle while growing up. So, they were not completely clueless about each other’s family’s affair.
"Do you like playing now?" Callahan glanced at the chessboard.
Sienna shrugged, "I haven’t found a worthy opponent."
He looked at her and she met his gaze, both of them recognizing the look in each other’s eyes.
