Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 318: So Afraid for Me?
Chapter 318: Chapter 318: So Afraid for Me?
"Wanwan, hurry, come with me to see Jin Yi."
Clan Leader Jin Cang had rushed over, and he was panting as he spoke.
"Clan Leader, please don’t worry. What happened?"
Bai Wanwan got up from the floor, walked to the doorway, and asked patiently.
"Jin Yi’s injuries have worsened. He’s come down with a fever, and the Silver Leaf Grass has lost its effect. Can you please come with me to see him?"
Even the Clan Witch was helpless, so the only person Jin Cang could think of was Bai Wanwan.
This was a miraculous female, seemingly blessed by the Beast God. Her arrival had saved their entire tribe.
Bai Wanwan was in a difficult position. She was also worried about Jin Yi’s condition, but she had three severely injured Beast Husbands at home.
Jin Cang seemed to see her predicament. "Wanwan, I’ll have someone look after your males. Please, will you come with me to see Jin Yi? He’s the only son I have. I can’t lose him."
When they had first arrived at the Golden Lion Tribe, Clan Leader Jin Cang had been high-spirited and impressive, a picture of a refined, mature man.
But now, his face was etched with exhaustion and weariness, as if he had aged more than ten years.
Bai Wanwan hesitated slightly, but then she thought of Yan Chi at home, and how Xin Feng was recovering quite quickly after using the Extreme Effect Golden Sore Medicine.
"Alright, I’ll go with you and take a look."
She reasoned that if she went and came back quickly, it wouldn’t take up too much time.
Jin Cang agreed profusely, and Bai Wanwan immediately moved to follow him.
"Wait, Wanwan. I’m going with you."
As Xin Feng spoke, he pushed himself up against the wall and, pale but stubborn, began walking toward her.
Bai Wanwan quickly ran back to support him. "Your injuries haven’t healed yet. What if they get worse if you go out with me? I’ll be back soon."
Nearby, Jin Cang immediately made a promise. "I will personally protect Wanwan. Xin Feng, you focus on recovering. I swear on the name of the Golden Lion Clan that I will not let anything happen to her."
Xin Feng’s demeanor seemed gentle, but it hid a deep-seated stubbornness. "Clan Leader, too many things have happened on our journey here. I don’t trust anyone. Wanwan, if you’re going, I have to be with you."
For a split second, seeing Xin Feng’s haggard and weak appearance, she didn’t want to go anymore.
But then her thoughts turned to Jin Yi—how during the beast tide, he had protected her time and time again. He would have had a much better chance of survival if he had just abandoned her.
But he didn’t. He even... protected her with his life.
Her heart ached for Xin Feng, but she also couldn’t bear the thought of Jin Yi dying.
She carefully supported Xin Feng’s arm and compromised. "Alright, then you can come with me. Walk slowly, and don’t pull on your wounds."
With that, she turned back to Yan Chi and said, "Big Brother, the Young Clan Leader has a fever. I’m going to check on him. I’ll have to trouble you to watch over Yan Lie, Zhu Xiu, and the cubs for a while."
"Okay, go on. I’ll watch over things at home, don’t worry."
With her mind at ease, Bai Wanwan finally helped Xin Feng walk outside.
Although Jin Cang was anxious, he knew that it was already a huge concession for Bai Wanwan’s Beast Husband to let her visit Jin Yi.
He could only suppress the urge to hurry them along, frequently glancing back at them.
After a short walk, Clan Leader Jin Cang personally led them into the Witch Cave.
The males with lighter injuries had already gone home to recuperate.
Those with serious injuries remained in the nearby stone houses to recover.
Only a few of the most severely injured were in the Witch Cave.
After entering the Witch Cave, Bai Wanwan first helped Xin Feng sit down. "Just sit here and wait for me. I won’t go anywhere outside the Witch Cave, you can rest assured."
Xin Feng leaned weakly against the stone wall, and Bai Wanwan took a nearby animal hide and draped it over him.
Before she left, Xin Feng tugged on her hand. "Call me if anything happens."
A smile touched her lips. "Okay. You just lean back and rest for a bit."
Only after settling Xin Feng in did she turn and walk deeper inside.
Jin Yi was lying on the innermost stone bed. His handsome face was flushed with an unnatural crimson from the high fever, his brows were tightly furrowed, his thin lips were cracked, and his breathing was heavy.
Bai Wanwan walked to his side and reached out to feel his forehead. The moment her fingertips touched his skin, she was startled by the scorching heat. "How is he this hot?"
Bai Wanwan’s expression changed. ’This temperature is far too high.’
Jin Cang said worriedly, "The Clan Witch gave him Silver Leaf Grass, but it was completely useless..."
Bai Wanwan pursed her lips. "Let me try... but I can’t guarantee I can bring his temperature down."
Hearing her say this, a glimmer of hope actually rose in Clan Leader Jin Cang’s eyes.
The Clan Witch was at his wit’s end; his only hope was for Bai Wanwan to give it a try.
Bai Wanwan had already bent down and was pulling off the heavy layers of animal hides covering Jin Yi.
The Clan Witch rushed forward to stop her. "No! Fevers are caused by chills. Female, you can’t uncover him..."
"Clan Witch, if he were only slightly hot, bundling him up would be fine. But his temperature is too high right now. We have to cool him down quickly."
’Otherwise, what if by the time the fever breaks, Jin Yi’s brain has been damaged?’
"Female, this will only put the Young Clan Leader in more danger."
This time, before Bai Wanwan could speak, Clan Leader Jin Cang raised his hand to stop the witch. "Clan Witch, you yourself said there’s nothing else to be done for Jin Yi’s current condition. In that case... let’s listen to her."
Bai Wanwan had no more time to argue with the Clan Witch. "Clan Leader, please have someone boil some hot water and keep it on standby."
Clan Leader Jin Cang immediately turned and ordered Jin Yue, who was standing beside him, to prepare it.
Bai Wanwan pulled away the animal hides on Jin Yi’s body, gradually revealing it.
His body was covered in a shocking network of old and new scars. Some had scabbed over, but others had become infected and were festering from being repeatedly torn open.
’No wonder he has a high fever.’
’If these infected wounds aren’t cleaned, the fever won’t be easy to bring down.’
She immediately took the alcohol she had previously redeemed from her System Space, dabbed it on medical cotton, and began to gently clean his wounds.
The unconscious Jin Yi tensed up from the pain, his brow knotting tightly.
She became even more careful with her movements, occasionally leaning in to blow gently on his wounds.
Suddenly, her wrist was seized by a scorching hot hand.
"Wanwan..." Jin Yi’s voice was hoarse, a low murmur like he was talking in his sleep.
Jin Cang heard it too. After a moment’s hesitation, he waved the other Beastmen away.
Soon, only Bai Wanwan and Jin Yi were left in the room.
Bai Wanwan, however, was completely oblivious, her attention focused entirely on Jin Yi.
She tried to pull her hand away but couldn’t; he only gripped it tighter.
Jin Yi’s brow remained tightly furrowed as if he were trapped in some kind of nightmare, and he kept muttering her name. "Wanwan... Wanwan..."
Bai Wanwan sighed and squeezed his hand back. "I’m here!"
Perhaps because he heard her voice, his tightly knitted brow slowly began to relax.
For a long while, he made no other sound.
Just as Bai Wanwan thought he had fallen unconscious again, Jin Yi spoke once more.
"Thank goodness you’re okay."
That low, raspy voice brushed across the tip of her heart like a feather, making her fingertips tremble slightly.
Her gaze fell upon his face, her eyes tracing over his handsome features inch by inch.
She suddenly let out a soft laugh. "Were you that afraid something would happen to me?"
