Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Who Hurt You?

Bai Wanwan’s hands trembled as she examined the injuries. The wounds weren’t fatal, but they covered his entire body, looking as if some creature had deliberately mauled him.

What was most alarming was that the edges of the wounds were jagged, clearly marks left by a cub’s milk teeth.

’System, redeem Extreme Effect Golden Sore Medicine!’

She roared the command in her mind, and a tube of snow-white ointment instantly appeared in her hand.

Without bothering to examine each wound individually, she liberally sprinkled the powder onto every injury.

Xin Feng silently picked up the barely breathing cub. The usually gentle male’s eyes were now filled with a cold, murderous intent.

He lowered his head, gently nuzzling the little wolf’s bloodstained forehead. His voice was dangerously low. "Tell Father Beast who hurt you..."

The wolf cub’s breathing gradually stabilized, but the wounds on his body were still gruesome.

Bai Wanwan’s heart ached as she stepped forward to stroke the wolf cub. "My cub, Mama will find out who hurt you. When I do, Mama will make them pay an eye for an eye!"

After she spoke, she caught a whiff of a strange scent.

"Xin Feng, the cub has a strange smell on him."

Xin Feng had an even sharper sense of smell. He had noticed it too but couldn’t identify the scent.

"While our cub is recovering, go and bring the Witch Doctor to take a look."

Rage churned in her chest, but she had nowhere to vent it.

’I have to stay calm. I’ll wait for him to wake up, find out exactly what happened, and then I can find the beast that hurt him.’

Yin Mei stood to the side, her eyes welling with tears of heartache.

She had always adored cubs, and these were Wanwan’s. In her heart, she... she already thought of them as her own.

"Wanwan, let Xin Feng stay here with you. I’ll go. I’m familiar with the Tiger Clan’s layout now. I’ll bring the Witch Doctor back in no time."

Before Bai Wanwan or Xin Feng could refuse, she turned and ran off.

Seeing her leave, Bai Wanwan and Xin Feng carried the wolf cub inside and laid him on the stone bed.

Whether in the world of wild animals or the world of the Beastmen, cub survival rates were very low.

Yet, nearly all of Bai Wanwan’s cubs had survived. This was partly because Bai Wanwan had intentionally waited until they had grown and gained some strength before letting them go off on their own.

This wolf cub was from her second litter.

He also possessed a Yellow Rank Talent. Recently, he had been able to bring back a fair amount of prey when hunting alone.

But she had never imagined that a half-grown Wolf Beast with a Yellow Rank Talent would face such a thing.

Noticing Bai Wanwan’s body trembling slightly, Xin Feng took her hand. "The cub’s condition has stabilized. Don’t worry."

Bai Wanwan didn’t hide the fury in her eyes. "I’m angry. The wounds on our cub were obviously inflicted by another cub. What kind of cub could possibly injure him like this?"

"No ordinary animal’s cub could have hurt him."

The sleeping wolf cub whimpered in pain. Bai Wanwan and Xin Feng immediately fell silent and sat down together by the stone bed.

The white, half-grown wolf cub twitched slightly as he lay there, muttering, "Mama... it hurts..."

Then he shook his head. "Doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t hurt... Father Beast, I’m not in pain."

A deep pain filled Xin Feng’s eyes. As a male, even a half-grown cub was expected to shed blood, not tears.

His large hand stroked the cub’s head. "Father Beast knows it hurts."

After a long time, a noise came from the courtyard. Bai Wanwan shot to her feet and hurried out to meet them.

"Wanwan, I’ve brought the Witch Doctor!" Yin Mei was walking quickly, her Beast Skin Skirt stained with several patches of dirt.

She had clearly fallen because she was in such a hurry.

She rushed forward to steady the staggering Yin Mei. "Sister Yin Mei, are you all right?"

"I’m fine. Quickly, have the Witch Doctor go check on the cub."

Bai Wanwan nodded, her gaze shifting to the elderly female behind her. "Witch Doctor, please come in and take a look at my cub..."

"Don’t you worry, I’ll take a look right away."

The Witch Doctor entered the house first, with Bai Wanwan helping Yin Mei and following close behind.

’Hua Sheng,’ she asked her system, ’run a scan on Sister Yin Mei. She took a fall while getting the Witch Doctor for my cub. Check if there are any problems with the cub in her belly, and if there are, tell me how to solve them.’

Hua Sheng’s voice immediately sounded, "Host, do not worry. Whether it is you carrying a cub or a female who has consumed a Fertility Pill, the pregnancy is far more robust than a normal one. As long as she doesn’t fall from a great height, a simple tumble on level ground is of no concern."

Hearing the system’s answer, Bai Wanwan was finally able to relax.

She helped Yin Mei sit down on a nearby stone stool to rest. "Sister Yin Mei, you get some rest. I’ll go see what the Witch Doctor says."

"Okay. Don’t worry about me. Go be with your cub."

By the time Bai Wanwan returned to the side of the stone bed, the Witch Doctor had already finished examining the wolf cub’s injuries.

"The bleeding has stopped, and his life is not in danger. You can rest assured."

’With the Extreme Effect Golden Sore Medicine, of course his life would be saved.’

But Bai Wanwan had called her over to find clues.

"Witch Doctor, I noticed a strange scent on my cub. Could you please smell it and see if you can identify what it is?"

As soon as Bai Wanwan finished speaking, the Witch Doctor immediately leaned in closer to the cub.

As she sniffed, her expression changed.

"It’s the juice of Mama Grass!"

The moment the Witch Doctor spoke, Xin Feng and Bai Wanwan understood everything.

This explained why the wolf cub had been so badly mauled by other cubs. An adult Beastman must have paralyzed him with the herb, leaving him powerless as the cubs bit him, piece by piece.

A knot of pure rage tightened in Bai Wanwan’s chest. She would find the Beastman who used Mama Grass on her cub.

The wolf cub had his Father Beast’s temperament—he was never rash and always treated others with gentleness.

For such a good cub to be intentionally harmed like this...

If she didn’t take brutal revenge for this, she’d renounce her own name!

Sensing Bai Wanwan’s emotional state, Xin Feng took the initiative to see the Witch Doctor out.

"I’m going to kill the adult Beastman who drugged my cub."

"Alright. I’ll help you kill them," Xin Feng said, raw killing intent blazing in his usually gentle eyes.

"No," Bai Wanwan shook her head firmly. "I’ll do it. I have to be the one to finish this."

As the wolf cub’s Father Beast and Mother, the rage in Bai Wanwan and Xin Feng’s hearts was about to erupt.

But just at that moment, the wolf cub lying on the stone bed stirred.

Bai Wanwan and Xin Feng whipped their heads around at the same time.

His eyelids trembled and weakly fluttered open a crack.

"My cub!" Bai Wanwan hurriedly leaned over, pressing her palm against his cold little paw. "Tell Mama, who hurt you?"

A low, weak whimper escaped the little wolf’s throat as he spoke in fits and starts, "Tiger... tiger cubs... stole my prey... Their... their Father Beast... said I stole from them."

Bai Wanwan stroked his head. "Mama knows. You just rest now. Once you’re better, Mama will take you to find them. We’ll settle this score."

The wolf cub managed a difficult nod, then his head lolled to the side, and he fell unconscious again.

Bai Wanwan bent down and kissed his furry head. When she straightened up again, her eyes were as cold as ice.
