Diary of a Criminal Investigator
Chapter 997: The Problems Lu Chuan Discovered
Zhao Xue’s action made everyone feel that she still had the willingness and hope to communicate.
Song Mingguang gave a look to the female star sitting nearby.
The female officer continued to communicate with the other party: “From the clues we found, Wang Dezhi treated you quite well. He gave you a 180-square-meter house and a BMW car worth over 300,000.”
“You two have been together for about three or four years, but… why did you kill him?”
“Moreover, the method was so brutal, you actually used a cutting machine to slice the body into 128 pieces…”
The reason for the interrogation is to determine Zhao Xue’s motive for murder.
Although Lu Chuan and others approached from multiple angles, various clues intertwined to focus on Zhao Xue.
But understanding why Zhao Xue committed murder is unavoidable.
Tools for cutting bones and a freezer storing the body were found in Zhao Xue’s house. But what was her motive for murder?
From the clues traced, Wang Dezhi seemed to treat Zhao Xue quite well.
At least from a material standpoint, Zhao Xue seemed to be greatly satisfied.
During the search of Zhao Xue’s residence, many designer clothes and bags were found in one of her bedrooms.
Meanwhile, Zhao Xue’s assets are substantial; her bank account has nearly a million.
In her bedroom, quite a few precious silver jewelry and some watches were also found.
The combined value of these items was more than half a million.
In the years that Wang Dezhi and Zhao Xue were together, Wang Dezhi gifted her a 180-square-meter house in the provincial city and a BMW car worth over 300,000.
Plus, there are almost a million in deposits and jewelry worth fifty to sixty thousand, among other designer bags.
The total value of all these gifts exceeds five million.
They knew each other for only three or four years, meaning that every year, Wang Dezhi spent over a million on Zhao Xue.
On average, that’s about 100,000 per month.
So, what reason does Zhao Xue have to kill Wang Dezhi?
Even if Zhao Xue didn’t want to be with Wang Dezhi anymore, she could have just broken up; the house and car were under her name, and the money was in her account. Even if they broke up, Wang Dezhi couldn’t possibly take all these things back.
Could it be that Wang Dezhi had a tendency for domestic violence, forcing Zhao Xue to not break up with him and leading her to murder?
But, after killing, why was it necessary to cruelly slice Wang Dezhi’s body into 128 pieces? What was the reason behind that?
The interrogation did not achieve the expected progress; although Zhao Xue eventually spoke, she only admitted to the murder, revealing nothing else.
Two hours later, the interrogation by Song Mingguang temporarily came to a halt.
In the office.
Everyone was discussing the case.
“I think there’s something odd about this Zhao Xue. Why did she kill Wang Dezhi? She has continuously refused to talk about it; I don’t see a reason for concealing it.”
Song Mingguang felt there was a problem.
Zhao Xue is now captured; the vehicle used to transport the body has been found, and her home completely bears the traces of post-murder—so she has virtually no chance of escape.
Right after being caught, Lu Chuan collected Zhao Xue’s footprint data, which matched the footprints found at the crime scene, confirming it was Zhao Xue who discarded the body at the abandoned logistics park.
Now aside from the murder motive, the entire process is nearly complete.
Two problems emerged.
First was that Zhao Xue’s murder motive was interrogated for over two hours; Zhao Xue only admitted to the murder but said not a word about the motive.
Another issue was the source of cyanide.
During the forensic examination, cyanide was found in Wang Dezhi’s body.
The main cause of death should be cyanide poisoning, and later freezing, before the body was cut up and sent to the abandoned logistics park.
Note that cyanide is highly toxic, not obtainable by ordinary people.
Upon investigation, Zhao Xue didn’t have a stable job; she used to be a nurse in a hospital.
After meeting Wang Dezhi, she resigned and hadn’t worked since, so how could someone unemployed access such a potent toxin like cyanide?
“I think Zhao Xue went to extremes out of fear.”
Some expressed differing opinions.
“Looking at the investigation results, Wang Dezhi treated Zhao Xue fairly well. Even though their relationship was that of lovers, he indeed invested quite a bit in Zhao Xue.”
Speaking was a criminal officer from the provincial city’s Criminal Investigation Team: “I once handled a similar case; the suspect didn’t have a clear reason to kill, he just felt the life was unbearable, felt trapped in a patronized relationship without future prospects, couldn’t marry, and despite the wealth felt empty and friendless. Ultimately, for unclear reasons, he wanted to kill.”
That view isn’t entirely illogical.
But from a case-solving perspective, both Song Mingguang and Wang Song hoped Zhao Xue could recount the entire process from motive to disposal, integrating the sequence.
Only then could the case become airtight.
The most crucial is determining the cyanide source, which must be controlled; otherwise, it poses a potential hazard.
While Song Mingguang and Wang Song took a break to chat, Lu Chuan continued working.
After extracting evidence from the BMW, Lu Chuan returned for analysis, and the evidence from Zhao Xue’s room also required examination.
Initially, bloodstains in the car trunk were chemically tested to match Wang Dezhi’s blood type.
But within the car, Lu Chuan identified an unusual occurrence.
One was the driver’s seat.
Once evidence collection concluded, Lu Chuan had the car transported to the Criminal Investigation Team, and upon re-checking the vehicle, identified something intriguing.
The driver’s seat adjustment had issues.
At 1.8 meters tall, Lu Chuan found the driver’s seat perfectly accommodating, with no discomfort.
Conversely, the front passenger seat sat forward, causing slight discomfort.
Why?
The car was gifted to Zhao Xue by Wang Dezhi.
Under normal circumstances, Zhao Xue would drive regularly, yet Zhao Xue is 1.67 meters tall; if she sat in the driver’s seat, Lu Chuan would struggle to fit comfortably at 1.8 meters.
Moreover, additional clues at Zhao Xue’s residence.
Led Lu Chuan to discover some issues.
