Chapter 721: Chapter 721: Instant Kill

A handsome, flippant-looking young man flashed a rebellious grin. "Bangor, fourth seat of the Seven-Day Tower. Paul, I admit you have great Talent. But daring to challenge the four of us by yourself? That was an incredibly foolish decision. I’m going to teach you a lesson and give you a taste of defeat!"

Shu Feng smiled faintly. "I’m Paul! I hope you can give me a little surprise."

As they spoke, Shu Feng and the others arrived at an arena for magic duels near the grand auditorium. It was the size of a soccer field and was enclosed by a powerful Defense Barrier.

"The match begins!"

The moment the five of them stepped into the arena, Master Mo An made the announcement.

"Rain Falling Technique!!"

A cold glint flashed in Kate’s eyes. Magic Staff in hand, she chanted an incantation and pointed.

Dark clouds formed in the sky, and a dense sheet of rain came pouring down.

Paul, Shu Feng’s disguise, possessed Super Magic Talent in the Fire Element and had naturally achieved Mastery in Fire Magic.

Although the Rain Falling Technique had little offensive power, it could suppress the effectiveness of Flame Magic.

"Torrential Spear!"

Eva, Magic Staff in hand, chanted an incantation and pointed.

An immense current of water materialized from nothing, coalescing into a long spear that shot toward Shu Feng.

"Flame Shield Technique!!"

Standing in the downpour, Shu Feng smiled calmly as flames erupted from his body, forming an enormous Flame Shield.

The sheets of rain splattered against the Flame Shield and were instantly vaporized, producing clouds of steam.

When the Torrential Spear struck Shu Feng’s Flame Shield, it too was instantly vaporized into steam.

"Rock Spike!"

Vaughn cast his Magic instantly. A razor-sharp Rock Spike erupted from the ground beneath Shu Feng, shooting violently upward at him.

"Flame Shield Technique!"

An egg-shaped Flame Shield enveloped Shu Feng, easily blocking the Rock Spike from below.

"Eye of Weakness!"

The pupil of Bangor’s right eye suddenly transformed into an eerie, gray, slitted pupil, resembling that of a terrifying Demon, as he stared directly at Shu Feng.

Eerie waves of gray light emerged from Bangor’s right eye and surged toward Shu Feng.

The Eye of Weakness was something Bangor had inherited from a Great Mage’s legacy during a fortuitous encounter; its power was immense. Although he only had the cultivation of a Great Mage, even a Demon Master couldn’t resist the weakening light from his right eye.

"Mirror Reflection Technique!"

Shu Feng smiled calmly, and with a casual wave of his hand, a Demon Mirror materialized.

The moment the gray light hit the Demon Mirror, the mirror’s surface rippled. The light was instantly reflected, shooting back as a streak that struck Vaughn.

Vaughn’s face fell. He repeatedly cast Purification Spells, attempting to dispel the light of Weakness from his body.

A ripple of shock went through Master Mo An. ’Mirror Reflection Technique! Incredible! It’s only a Third-tier magic, but its Magic Model is so complex that it’s nearly impossible to construct! Even among Great Mages, very few can master it! Paul’s Talent is simply off the charts!’

In theory, Mages in the Gulondo World could master countless types of Magic and possess all sorts of Abilities. In reality, their time was limited, so the number of spells they could truly master was also limited.

Certain especially complex spells were generally only mastered by Legendary Powerhouses.

"Flame Serpent Technique!!"

Shu Feng pointed. The Flame Element roiled, and one after another, lifelike Flame Serpents wreathed in terrifying fire materialized out of thin air, sweeping toward the four prodigies of the Seven-Day Tower.

"Torrential Impact!!"

The color drained slightly from Eva’s pretty face. Magic Staff in hand, she pointed at Shu Feng.

An immense torrent of water gathered, forming columns that crashed toward the Flame Serpents.

SIZZLE! SIZZLE!

Clouds of steam billowed into the air as the Flame Serpents and water columns canceled each other out, one by one.

But the number of Flame Serpents was seemingly endless. In a flash, one of them broke through the torrents of water and sank its fangs into Eva.

"No!!"

Eva cried out as her Magic Barrier shattered. She was thrown aside, her body covered in multiple burns.

A Flame Serpent slammed into the weakened Vaughn, shattering his Protective Barrier and blasting him more than ten meters away.

"Rock Shield!!"

Bangor’s expression changed slightly as a three-meter-tall Rock Shield materialized before him.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Flame Serpents bombarded the shield like missiles. Bangor’s Rock Shield held for only two seconds before it was blown apart. Another Flame Serpent bit down hard on Bangor, shattering his Magic Shield and sending him flying.

"I concede!!"

Kate, ever the pragmatist, chose to concede.

"Great Healing Technique!"

Master Mo An chanted an incantation and pointed. A resplendent pillar of healing light descended from the sky, bathing Vaughn, Eva, and Bangor in its glow.

Under the pillar of Healing light, the burns on the three Mages began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye.

A dozen breaths later, Vaughn and the others had fully recovered.

A complex look flashed in Vaughn’s eyes before he managed a slight smile. "Paul, your strength is truly a cut above ours. You are the true first seat of the Seven-Day Tower!"

Shu Feng said consolingly, "Vaughn, don’t be discouraged. It’s perfectly normal that you lost to me. After all, not a single Magic Student in the entire Fiery Sun Empire is my match."

Vaughn: "..."

Master Mo An said flatly, "Eva, you’re the substitute."

"Yes!"

Eva replied, a hint of unwillingness flashing in her eyes.

The role of the substitute was to step in if one of the four main members—including Shu Feng—died or was seriously injured. But with Master Mo An, a Legendary Mage who had also achieved Mastery in Healing Magic, such a situation was virtually impossible.

"Let’s go."

Master Mo An let out a sharp whistle.

A Legendary-Level Demon, a Thunderous Giant Eagle with a fifty-meter wingspan, a body covered in black plumage, and a Lightning Curse Seal on its forehead, descended from the sky and landed before Master Mo An.

Shu Feng and the others then boarded the Legendary Demon, the Thunderous Giant Eagle, and sped off toward the Imperial City of the Fiery Sun Empire.

「Within a general store in Holy Flame City, the Imperial City of the Fiery Sun Empire.」

A heavily bearded and rather ugly shopkeeper was lazing on a reclining chair. At this time of day, his general store had no customers.

An ordinary-looking young man slowly stepped into the general store.

The shopkeeper said nonchalantly, "Look around for whatever you want. Just call me when you’re ready to pay."

The young man smiled faintly. "To think the Pope of the Nine-Night Ink Crow would look like this. It’s quite an eye-opener."

The shopkeeper’s eyes snapped open, glinting with a brilliant light, as if a terrifying behemoth had just awakened. An incredibly dreadful aura began to radiate from his body.
