Chapter 733: Chapter 721: I Want You to Marry Me (9)

「That night.」

Eleanor Bishop wandered down the street, watching the crowds of people and the endless stream of cars. A chilly smile touched her lips.

The scene was identical to the one from six years ago, back when she had decided to leave Tridell.

What she hadn’t expected, however, was that after all these years, his hatred for her hadn’t faded one bit. In fact, it seemed to have grown even stronger.

A mocking smirk tugged at her lips. She turned into a supermarket, bought a few beers, and walked back out.

Instead of heading home, she wandered the streets, drinking as she walked.

She lost track of how much she drank. Whenever she finished a bottle, she would simply find the nearest supermarket, buy more, and continue her walk.

In the past, she never let herself drink without restraint. Even on occasions where drinking was a must, she never allowed herself to get drunk.

But tonight, she just wanted to get completely wasted. She wanted to let herself go, just this once.

’All these years, my only goal, my only reason for living, had been my father. But now, he’s well. So my goal, my meaning... it’s all gone. It doesn’t matter if I get drunk. My father is there for me now, anyway.’

"Heh..." Thinking about all this, Eleanor let out a bitter laugh that went on for a long, long time before she slowly snapped out of it.

She tipped her head back, took a long swig of beer, and resumed her aimless wandering.

She must have been drunk by now, because her body swayed uncontrollably as she walked.

She even stumbled into the street, still drinking and swaying, completely oblivious to where she was going.

Fortunately, the light had just turned red as she neared the middle of the intersection, and all the cars had stopped just seconds before. Otherwise, in her state, she would have certainly caused an accident.

But she was completely unaware that she was in the middle of a dangerous intersection. After taking a few more gulps of beer, she puffed out her cheeks in a pout and simply stopped walking, standing right where she was.

Just then, the light turned green, and traffic began to move. Only then did she seem to notice the cars whizzing past her on both sides.

She looked up, beer bottle in hand, and spun around twice. Seeing no clear path forward, she pouted, angrily pointed the bottle at the passing cars, and yelled, "Damn it! Even you’re bullying me!"

"You look down on me too, don’t you?!" As she spoke, Eleanor burst into tears. She took two steps forward, right as a car came speeding through. The driver couldn’t brake in time, and the car shot past, its side nearly grazing her. The force of its passage shoved her back two steps, and her legs, weak with fright, gave out, sending her collapsing to the pavement.

The car that had just passed screeched to a halt, and the vehicles behind it stopped one after another as well.

The air filled with the blare of car horns and the angry shouts of drivers, all directed at her.

Sitting on the ground, she looked up with a wounded expression at the people yelling at her. A tearful, broken laugh escaped her. "Did Archie Lockwood pay you all off? Heh, he must have given you lots and lots of money, right? Heh heh, he’s so generous... thinking he can solve anything with money!"

"But none of you are worth more than me! Twenty million! I, Eleanor Bishop, am worth twenty million!"
