Chapter 734: Chapter 722: I Want You to Marry Me (10)

Listening to Eleanor Bishop’s nonsensical rambling, the people who had been cursing at her were left dumbfounded. They stared at her as if she were an idiot.

A few men even shouted curses. "Where did this crazy woman come from?!"

"What a fucking pain! I’m in a hurry!"

"She looks drunk. We should probably call the police."

...Eleanor Bishop, of course, heard everything they were saying. She tried to stand, but the moment she put weight on her foot, an excruciating pain shot through her ankle. Her body felt completely drained of strength.

So she just smashed the wine bottle on the ground and sat there, bursting into tears.

Just like a small, wronged child.

Her scene was causing the line of stopped cars on the road to grow longer and longer.

Just then, Archie Lockwood’s car also happened to be stuck in the traffic jam on this very road.

Archie Lockwood assumed Howard Rhodes was just waiting at a red light. But after several minutes passed and the car still hadn’t moved, he looked up, annoyed. "Why aren’t we moving?" he demanded coldly.

"Looks like there’s an accident up ahead," Howard Rhodes said, frowning as he turned to face his boss.

"An accident?" Hearing this, Archie Lockwood’s brow furrowed. "Get out and see what’s going on. Find out how long we’ll be delayed."

"Yes, sir," Howard Rhodes responded crisply before opening the door and getting out.

Meanwhile, Louise Jordan moved from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat, ready to drive off the moment the road cleared.

Howard Rhodes walked a short distance and saw a large crowd gathered at the intersection. The sight of the person sitting on the ground left him stunned.

His expression darkened and his brow furrowed. He immediately pulled out his phone and called Archie Lockwood.

When Archie Lockwood heard that the person causing the trouble was Eleanor Bishop, he didn’t say a word. He just hung up.

Howard Rhodes stared at his phone after his boss hung up on him, completely baffled.

’Should I go help her, or just stay out of it?’

But just as he was wrestling with what to do, he saw his boss break into a run, heading straight for Eleanor Bishop.

Seeing this, he quickly followed.

"Heh... You’re all bad people... You’re all just villains bought off by that bastard Archie Lockwood..." Archie Lockwood had just reached Eleanor Bishop’s side when he heard her slurred curses.

He froze for a second, and his expression soured.

"Bastard... bastard... You bastard..." By the end, her voice faded, and her head slumped forward.

"Where are the police already?" someone in the crowd yelled impatiently.

"She looks wasted. Why don’t we just drag her to the side so the road can clear?"

"No way. There are too many scammers trying to pull stuff like this these days. What if she’s just faking it?"

"Good point, good point. I bet this woman is trying to pull a scam."

...Archie Lockwood’s expression had already been ugly from Eleanor Bishop’s curses. Now, hearing the crowd’s speculation, his face grew even darker.

He strode over, bent down, and scooped Eleanor Bishop up from the ground in his arms.

The crowd, which had just been debating whether Eleanor Bishop was a scammer, was alarmed when they saw Archie Lockwood pick her up. "Hey, kid, you should put her down!" one of them advised nervously. "It’s better to wait for the police to handle this."

"Yeah, that’s right! This woman is obviously a scammer. Don’t get yourself mixed up in this mess, buddy."

...

Listening to these so-called good Samaritans chiming in one after another to persuade him, Archie Lockwood just gave a cold smirk. "Whether or not she’s a scammer is none of your concern."
