As Archie Lockwood carried her away, the onlookers stared at him as if he were a fool.

Still, they didn’t forget they had to get back to their cars and clear the road.

Back in the car, Archie Lockwood looked down at the woman in his arms and sneered. "Well, aren’t you something else now? You’ve even learned to drink! And to make a drunken scene in the middle of the street, no less. Eleanor Bishop, oh, Eleanor Bishop... is there anything you *won’t* do?"

The mere thought of Eleanor Bishop cursing him out in front of all those people made him so furious he wanted to wake her up and throw her out of the car right then and there.

’Just how unhappy with me is she? Enough to go yelling about it in the street?’

Archie Lockwood’s brow remained tightly furrowed. The more he looked at Eleanor Bishop, the angrier he became.

When they arrived at the hotel, Archie Lockwood carried Eleanor Bishop straight toward his suite. But just as Howard Rhodes was about to open the door, he suddenly remembered Rory was still inside. "Go get another room!"

"Yes."

Watching Howard Rhodes leave, Archie Lockwood stood waiting, still holding Eleanor Bishop.

He looked down at Eleanor Bishop’s sleeping face, his expression growing complicated.

Howard Rhodes was quick. He returned a moment later, used the key card to open the door, and then left again.

Archie Lockwood laid Eleanor Bishop on the bed and pulled the covers over her.

He looked at Eleanor Bishop and gave a self-deprecating laugh.

’Even he had to admit he was acting strangely. He had decided he wouldn’t see her again, that he wouldn’t even let her appear before him. So what was he doing now?’

’He’d actually brought this woman to a hotel and put her in a room right across from Rory!’

’Wasn’t this just blatantly creating an opportunity for her to see Rory?’

’And for a woman like her, he kept going soft, time and time again.’

Archie Lockwood tore his gaze away, clenched his fists, and turned to leave the room.

He returned to the suite he shared with Rory. When he opened the door and went inside, he found Rory already asleep on the sofa.

As he watched Rory sleep, the image of Eleanor Bishop sleeping moments ago surfaced in his mind.

Although he didn’t want to admit that Eleanor Bishop was Rory’s mother, it was undeniable that the two of them looked incredibly alike. Even their sleeping posture was identical.

He walked over, gently lifted Rory from the sofa, and carried her to her room, tucking her into bed.

He sat on the edge of the bed and gently brushed the stray hairs from Rory’s face, tucking them behind her ears.

"Daddy, eat!" Rory suddenly mumbled, her lips pouted in her sleep.

Hearing Rory talk in her sleep, Archie Lockwood couldn’t help but smile, his expression full of affection.

’This little girl,’ he thought, ’is always thinking about food.’

But as he smiled, the expression on his face slowly stiffened. An image of Rory yelling at him flashed through his mind.

It was from when they had argued at Siren.

’Is having a mother really that important?’

’But what gives *that woman* the right to be a mother?’

Eleanor Bishop woke up in the middle of the night, startled awake by a full bladder. But as she tried to sit up, a sharp pain shot through her head, and her ankle throbbed with a piercing ache. Holding back tears, she groaned, "Ugh... it hurts..."

She was about to throw back the covers to look at her foot when it suddenly hit her. She clutched the blanket tightly and asked in alarm, "Where is this? How did I get here?"

Once Eleanor Bishop saw that there was no one else in the room, she quickly threw back the covers. But the moment she tried to get out of bed, another wave of pain shot through her ankle. "Ah! It hurts so much!"
