Chapter 787: Chapter 775: The Case-Solving Little Detective (5)
Eleanor Bishop coughed for a long while before her throat finally felt a little better. With red-rimmed eyes, she looked up at Archie Lockwood, aggrieved. "I’m sorry, please don’t be mad. I didn’t do it on purpose..."
"Heh, sorry? Not on purpose?" Archie Lockwood slammed the water glass down on the table and pointed at himself. "Eleanor Bishop, are you sure you’re apologizing to me?"
Seeing how angry Archie Lockwood was, Eleanor Bishop felt even more aggrieved. "Archie Lockwood, don’t be so unreasonable. I’ve already apologized, what more do you want?"
"Did I ask for your apology?"
"Then what do you want? I didn’t mean to cough..." ’I just choked and coughed a few times, it’s not like it’s the end of the world. Does he really have to be so petty and start a fight with me over it?’
Hearing this, Archie Lockwood practically roared through gritted teeth, "Eleanor Bishop!!! If I die one day, it’ll be because you’ve angered me to death!"
"—" With her eyes also red, Eleanor Bishop glared back at Archie Lockwood defiantly.
’If he died, what would that have to do with me!’
Seeing Eleanor Bishop’s defiant expression, Archie Lockwood pointed at the food on the table and said angrily, "Aren’t you always so obedient? Fine. Finish every last bite of food on this table. If you don’t, you’re not sleeping in the bed tonight!"
With that, Archie Lockwood turned and stormed away.
Eleanor Bishop stared at the table laden with food, cursing Archie Lockwood a thousand times over in her head.
’She didn’t understand what on earth Archie Lockwood’s problem was! All she did was cough a few times...’
’He’s a total psycho! A monster! So detestable, always thinking up new ways to torture and humiliate her.’
After Archie Lockwood went upstairs, he thought back to the ultimatum he had thrown down, and his handsome face grew colder.
’That woman... She wouldn’t actually be obedient enough to eat that entire table of food, would she?’
The thought of her actually obeying him made it impossible for Archie Lockwood to relax. Once in his bedroom, he couldn’t bring himself to sit or lie down, and instead began pacing back and forth.
Barely ten minutes had passed, but in his agitation, he had already lost count of how many times he’d kicked the chairs and desks.
Finally, unable to stand it any longer, he left the bedroom and headed downstairs.
When he got downstairs and entered the living room, he found Eleanor Bishop sitting on the sofa, remote in hand, flipping through channels.
His brow furrowed as he strode toward Eleanor Bishop. Reaching her side, he snatched the remote from her hand. "Eleanor Bishop, what do you think you’re doing?" ’He’d been so worried about her upstairs, and here she was, casually watching television.’
"Oh, watching TV." Eleanor Bishop didn’t get angry that he’d snatched the remote. She simply lowered her head and answered blandly.
Archie Lockwood’s brow twitched in exasperation. "Why didn’t you do as I said?" he snapped. ’He wasn’t an idiot; of course he could see she was watching TV!’
"I thought about it," she said. "If I don’t finish the food, I don’t have to sleep with you tonight. So, I didn’t eat." Besides, she wasn’t hungry. There was no way she could finish that much food.
’Even if she were starving, given her condition, it would be better to have some porridge or eat something light this late at night.’
"Eleanor Bishop! I could just strangle you!" ’So, he had worried for nothing.’
’And he’d even given her a perfectly legitimate excuse—a wide-open path—to avoid sleeping with him?’
