Chapter 788: Chapter 776: The Case-Solving Little Detective (6)
"..." Eleanor Bishop looked up. Watching Archie Lockwood act no better than a shrew, her brow furrowed in displeasure.
’Was everything I did wrong? Was there nothing I could do to please him?’
Resisting the urge to strangle her, Archie Lockwood simply forced her up from the sofa and into his arms.
"What are you doing?" Snatched up by Archie Lockwood, Eleanor Bishop’s thoughts scattered. Her voice was sharp with panic.
Archie Lockwood glanced down at the woman in his arms and enunciated coldly, "Back to the room. To sleep."
"Didn’t you say I couldn’t sleep in the bed tonight if I didn’t finish my food? Archie Lockwood, I didn’t finish, and I don’t intend to. So put me down. I’ll be good and spend the night on the sofa." ’I can’t stand being with him, getting yelled at and bullied.’
Her words only made Archie Lockwood angrier. He glared at Eleanor Bishop. "I said you weren’t allowed on the bed tonight, but I never said you couldn’t sleep in the room!"
"Archie Lockwood, put me down! Don’t think you can bully me however you want just because I’m injured." With that, Eleanor Bishop started to struggle in his arms.
’Because I felt guilty, because I’d wronged him, because I was scared of him—I’d been enduring it all, constantly backing down, never daring to set him off. But he didn’t have to target me at every single turn like this!’
’If he really can’t stand the sight of me, if I’m such an eyesore, then he should just send me away!’
’I’d swear never to appear before him again as long as I live!’
Archie Lockwood’s lips curled into a cold, disdainful smirk. "Eleanor Bishop, I’m no gentleman. My go-to move is to take advantage of people when they’re vulnerable." He certainly wasn’t going to hold back on bullying her just because she was injured.
After carrying her upstairs and into the room, Archie Lockwood placed her directly on the sofa.
He turned to shut the door. When he turned back around to approach Eleanor Bishop,
he found her sitting anxiously on the sofa, watching him with a wary expression, as if he were some heinous, irredeemable villain.
He looked down and sneered. "Eleanor Bishop, you really think you’re all that, don’t you?"
’He did want to use her to blow off some steam, just like in the past. But with her body in its current state... Heh. He wasn’t so despicable as to actually stoop that low.’
"...?" ’What did he mean by that?’
Eleanor Bishop’s face went pale as she watched him uneasily.
Archie let out another derisive laugh. "I’m not so hard up that I’d stoop to touching a cripple like you."
"Archie Lockwood, you..." ’That’s going too far! He’s the one who just said his go-to move was taking advantage of people when they’re vulnerable!’
"However, if you *want* it," he added, a genuine flicker of anticipation in his eyes, "I might be convinced to reluctantly oblige you."
At his words, Eleanor Bishop’s expression turned thunderous. In a fit of rage, she twisted to the side, grabbed a throw pillow from the sofa, and hurled it at Archie Lockwood. "Archie Lockwood, you’ve gone too far!"
Archie Lockwood never imagined Eleanor Bishop would get angry enough to actually throw something at him. Before he could react, the pillow hit him in the head. It wasn’t a hard blow and it didn’t hurt, but the shock of it left him completely stunned.
Even Eleanor Bishop was startled by her own actions.
’Did I really just... hit Archie Lockwood?’
