Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld

Chapter 206 - 205: You’re Actually Not From This World

’Such rare tranquility. It feels like it’s been a long time since I felt this way...’

Chu Liangyu narrowed her eyes slightly, enjoying the feeling of the breeze on her skin.

BANG—BANG—

Suddenly, two consecutive explosions rang out. Chu Liangyu’s relaxed body stiffened, and she instinctively turned toward the sound.

COUGH, COUGH...

Lou Sang walked out of the kitchen, one hand covering his mouth as he let out a faint cough, the other holding a blackened object.

"My bad. I didn’t control the heat properly and ended up wrecking your kitchen."

Lou Sang apologized before Chu Liangyu could even say anything.

Not that there was much sincerity to it.

He sat back down in the rattan chair, held up the unidentifiable object, and looked at Chu Liangyu.

He asked her, "Want some?"

As he spoke, he broke off a piece and offered it to her.

Chu Liangyu turned her head away in disgust. "You can keep that for yourself," she refused.

"Tch, suit yourself."

Lou Sang himself didn’t seem to mind, nonchalantly eating the blackened lump.

He even appeared to be savoring it.

Watching him gave Chu Liangyu a headache. It was as if a strange taste was forming in her own mouth just from the sight.

’Seriously, is there something wrong with Lou Sang’s sense of taste?’

’How could he possibly eat that?’

Chu Liangyu couldn’t help but stare. A not-so-reliable theory formed in her mind: ’Maybe this guy sees his own cooking through some kind of filter.’

"It’s a shame you won’t eat it. It doesn’t look like much, but it actually tastes okay."

Lou Sang ate with gusto, perhaps because Chu Liangyu had been staring at him for a little too long.

Feeling a little awkward, Lou Sang broke off another piece and held it out to her. "Here, I’ll bestow this upon you."

Chu Liangyu stared at it for a moment before reaching out to take it.

"Is it really that good?"

Lou Sang didn’t answer, simply lowering his head and continuing to eat.

Unable to contain her curiosity, Chu Liangyu brought it to her nose for a sniff. When she didn’t detect any strange odors, she finally popped it into her mouth.

But after just two chews, her expression changed, her face turning shades of green and red like a painter’s palette.

"Hahahaha! See? I told you it tasted good."

Seeing that she’d fallen for it, Lou Sang dropped the act and tossed the blackened thing in his hand.

"BLECH, BLECH, BLECH."

Chu Liangyu hadn’t wanted to spit it out, but the stuff was truly vile.

In the end, she had to conjure water with her energy to rinse out her mouth. Her expression only relaxed once the awful taste was gone.

"You’re a grown man, yet you’re still so childish."

Feeling resigned, Chu Liangyu shot him a glance before lying back down.

Apparently, she had no intention of blaming him.

"Huh... Your reaction is kind of a letdown. I’m not getting any of the usual satisfaction from a successful prank."

"It’s the same old trick. I’m used to it. What kind of reaction did you expect?"

Chu Liangyu’s voice was languid. Lou Sang listened and nodded. "What you just said... it suddenly reminds me of the past."

"Hm? What memories?"

Lou Sang didn’t rush to answer. After a moment of silence, he said, "About how we first met, things like that."

Chu Liangyu froze for a moment. Her pupils gradually dilated as she seemed to drift into a memory.

At that time, it had only been a century since the three of them, Chu Liangyu included, had been created by the Beast God.

For beings with their long lifespans, that was merely their childhood.

Though they were of similar age, Lou Sang had become a world’s Barrier Guardian Spirit very early on.

His role was similar to that of Tu Bai, the Barrier Guardian Spirit of Void Island.

Due to his duties, people usually called him the World Spirit.

Chu Liangyu didn’t know how he had become a World Spirit. She only knew that from the first moment she saw him, she found him exceptionally somber, his gaze terrifyingly vacant.

A faint aura of solitude emanated from him, clinging to him like a shroud that could not be shaken off.

Even under the most brilliant sunlight, he seemed to exist in another world entirely, never interacting with anyone.

"Speaking of which, I wasn’t very likable back then. Why did you decide to approach me?"

Perhaps recalling something, the smile on Lou Sang’s face faded slightly.

"For no particular reason. I was probably just young, and when I saw you looking like that, I felt you were rather pitiful."

Though it sounded like a joke, it was what Chu Liangyu had genuinely thought at the time.

"So that’s how it was. But still, it’s all thanks to you."

A smile returned to Lou Sang’s face, and he seemed to revert to his usual carefree self.

Chu Liangyu had been a playful sort back then, too. After finding an interesting playmate, she often took him on adventures to all corners of the Beast World.

As they spent more time together and their shared experiences grew, Lou Sang’s personality was no longer so somber, and he became the person he was today.

As for Lou Sang’s past, Chu Liangyu had never asked about it.

She instinctively felt they weren’t pleasant memories. Besides, she had no cruel desire to pick at old wounds, so she had even less reason to be curious.

Lou Sang also looked up at the starry sky and suddenly spoke. "Actually... I don’t belong to this world."

A shocked expression crossed Chu Liangyu’s face. "How is that possible!" she exclaimed instinctively.

’How could a world’s Barrier Guardian Spirit not be a native of that world!’

’This... This is too strange.’

"It’s true. I’m not lying."

"Then you..." Chu Liangyu opened her mouth as if to ask something, but then swallowed her words.

"You want to ask where I’m from, and how I became a World Spirit?"

After knowing each other for so many years, a single expression was often all they needed to guess what the other was thinking.

"Yes, I’m just a little curious."

"Maybe someday. When the time comes, I’ll be sure to tell you."

But then Lou Sang just shook his head, looking deliberately mysterious.

"Oh, right. Now that you’re the Beast God, you have to be careful when you travel to other worlds."

"Especially a place like the Cultivation World. It’s full of hidden masters. There’s no telling, you might even meet your match there."

"If that really happened, it would be all over."

Chu Liangyu frowned. She hadn’t really considered that.

"Is it really that dangerous?"

"Of course. If someone in another world is determined to harm you, even the Heavenly Dao might not be able to protect you in time."

Chu Liangyu mulled it over for a moment before nodding gravely. "Thank you for the warning. I’ll have a proper talk with Elder Yu before going in."

"That’s good."

Lou Sang stretched, pushed himself up from the rattan chair, and stood. "I should be getting back. I’ll leave you to it."

After a few steps, Lou Sang suddenly stopped. "Oh, right. I seem to recall you still owe me a High Tier Magic Robe."

"I do?"

Chu Liangyu looked at him, puzzled. For a moment, she couldn’t remember anything of the sort.

Lou Sang’s face darkened. He didn’t bother reminding her, simply saying, "My, how forgetful great people are. Just remember that you owe me one, and don’t forget to bring it back for me from the Cultivation World."
