Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 239 - 238: The Beast God’s Exclusive Office
Let us set aside what Chu Liangyu said to Chu Heguang upon returning to Void Island, and instead speak of what transpired in the Cultivation World after she left.
After the Heavenly Dao sent Chu Liangyu back to the Sumeru Space, it created a puppet identical to her, controlling it to hurry toward the next town.
The puppet was incredibly realistic. The anxious expression on its face was so lifelike, it truly looked the part.
Meanwhile, as she passed through a remote patch of woods, she was targeted by a group of Cultivators from Poyang City who were passing by.
The five of them had heard that she was carrying a great number of Spirit Stones. With three Nascent Soul Stage experts and two Golden Core Stage experts in their group, they gave in to their greed.
As expected, the unexpected happened to Chu Liangyu. She died. The cause of death was murder for profit.
The very instant she breathed her last, a red figure suddenly appeared.
He raised his hand. With a single palm strike, the five people who had yet to leave lost their breath. Their chests were pierced through, and their eyes were wide with shock. They didn’t even have time to cry out in pain before they were as dead as could be.
The Heavenly Dao watched, its scalp tingling with fear. ’Good thing I was fast enough,’ it thought. ’Otherwise, this guy would have noticed something was off.’
The newcomer was none other than Jiang Li. He knelt, carefully examining the body, and found that Chu Liangyu was truly dead.
A bewildered look crossed his face. His heart was filled with a sense of melancholic loss, as if he had lost something incredibly important.
Stunned, he subconsciously reached out and pulled the body into his arms, remaining perfectly still in a half-kneeling posture.
His expression betrayed no joy or anger, but one could feel that he was enveloped in confusion, lost in a world of his own and unable to escape.
’This shouldn’t have happened. There’s no way she would die so easily.’
The corpse was right before his eyes, right in his arms, yet he just couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t the real her.
It was a feeling that she wasn’t dead, just alive somewhere he didn’t know.
Jiang Li felt that he had been acting very strangely lately. The first time he met the person in his arms, he had been inexplicably captivated and couldn’t help but want to spend more time with her.
Every moment he spent with her brought him immense satisfaction, as if it were making up for some long-lost regret.
He had originally followed her out of the Demon Realm after the banquet, but an unexpected incident had occurred there, forcing him to return and handle it.
Yet, when he rushed back, all he found was her dead body.
She was still wearing the clothes he had personally put on her. They were now stained a dark red, mingled with blood, and the fabric no longer felt as soft and silky.
Jiang Li’s hand brushed against the clothes, and in that instant of contact, something flashed through his mind, and clarity broke through the fog of his emotions.
The clothes he had given his Little Crow were an Immortal Artifact Level item. Their defensive capabilities were far from trivial; even a Divinity Transformation Stage expert would have found it difficult to kill her.
To say nothing of a few Nascent Soul Stage cultivators managing to damage the garment—that was simply impossible.
And that wasn’t all. No one else could remove the clothes he had personally put on his Little Crow, unless he did it himself, or unless the Little Crow refined the artifact and made it her own.
But his Little Crow clearly didn’t know about this yet, so it was impossible for her to have taken the clothes off.
Therefore, the one before him was a fake.
The strange thing was, he couldn’t figure out what kind of technique had been used to create a fake that even a Great Demon like him, on the verge of Ascension, couldn’t see through.
Pushing these doubts aside for the moment, Jiang Li picked up the body and prepared to leave.
"Wait a moment."
Li Jingxuan had appeared nearby at some point. He called out, his gaze falling on the person in Jiang Li’s arms.
"She is my disciple. As her master, it is my duty to take her. I hope you will understand, Senior."
Li Jingxuan could feel the powerful aura emanating from him and knew his cultivation was far superior to his own, so he spoke with a great deal of courtesy.
"And what of it?"
Jiang Li merely gave him a cool glance and turned to leave.
But after taking a few steps, he stopped and turned back to Li Jingxuan. "You are her master?"
"Yes, so please, Senior, give her back to me."
Jiang Li selectively ignored the latter half of his sentence. He sized him up for a moment, narrowed his eyes, and asked, "She’s dead. Why don’t you look sad at all?"
Li Jingxuan’s heart skipped a beat, but fortunately, his face was habitually expressionless, making the subtle shift difficult to notice.
However, Jiang Li’s eyes were exceptionally sharp—it would be no exaggeration to call them magnifying glasses. He noticed the anomaly almost immediately.
"I see. I will pay you a visit another day."
Without another word about returning the body, he truly left this time, leaving Li Jingxuan standing there alone.
At this moment, the Heavenly Dao could no longer contain its short temper and spoke up. "Didn’t I tell you not to follow? Why don’t you ever listen! Now look what you’ve done!"
"Do you have any idea how much trouble you’ve just caused her? When that Demon King actually goes looking for her, I’d like to see how you’ll handle it."
A trace of guilt appeared on Li Jingxuan’s usually cold face, but he still said, "Don’t worry, I won’t tell the Demon King anything about her."
"I only came this time because I thought that since this is technically her body, I should take it back for a proper burial."
The Heavenly Dao sighed helplessly and could only advise him, "That Demon King is incredibly shrewd. You had best be careful."
"I know."
Li Jingxuan glanced in the direction they had left, then departed by riding his sword.
After parting with Chu Liangyu, he had returned to the Demon Hall. His Divine Soul recovered after he consumed the Jade Spirit Grass.
Not only that, but due to the improvement in his state of mind, his cultivation was also showing signs of a breakthrough.
This time, he planned to enter seclusion for a while after returning, partly to avoid the Demon King.
----
Meanwhile, Chu Liangyu returned to Void Island only to find the old man wasn’t there. After asking the Barrier Guardian Spirit, Tu Bai, she learned that he had gone to the Land of No Worries.
The Land of No Worries was a space specifically for Guardians to handle various matters—the equivalent of an office.
However, unlike an ordinary office, the matters handled here all pertained to the operation and security of the Beast World.
After she became the Beast God, this would likely be the place where Chu Liangyu would spend most of her time.
Entering was also simple. She just needed to press her index and middle fingers together, release her Creation Power at their tips, and then point toward the location of her Divine Seal. Her figure would then appear inside the Land of No Worries.
But this was a benefit she could only enjoy while in the Beast World. If Chu Liangyu were to go to other worlds, she would naturally be unable to enter this space.
This was also Chu Liangyu’s first time entering. Once inside, she curiously looked around at her surroundings.
The space was pure white, but it wasn’t harsh on the eyes. Instead, it gave off a feeling of clean simplicity.
Chu Liangyu hadn’t walked more than a few steps when she discovered a pale golden pillar of light not far away.
Within the pillar of light were sheets of yellowed paper with some writing on them, but no matter how hard Chu Liangyu tried, she couldn’t make out the words.
Next to the pillar of light was an enormous semi-circular desk, roughly three meters in radius, which was piled high with things and looked extremely cluttered.
The old man, wearing a pair of rather fashionable glasses, was hunched over the desk, looking at something.
