Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 129
Once the surviving bandits who were chasing the carriage fled, Pip flew towards the carriage. The action of Flinx’s owl alarmed the carriage driver and the old man, but the young lady who was with the old man inside the carriage just looked at the owl with curiosity.
Pip flew towards the driver, causing the man to lift his hands in front of his head, as if protecting himself from the owl, but instead of attacking, Pip cast a spell towards the man.
The driver was severely surprised when he noticed that the pain that he had from the grievous wound on his belly, which was caused by one of the bandits, had disappeared. The man lifted his shirt to look at his wound and saw that it was gone. He noticed that the owl also healed their horses.
The driver jumped down from the carriage seat and knelt towards the owl.
“Thank you so much, sir, for healing us,” The driver shouted at the owl, who ignored the man and flew toward Flinx’s tower and perched on one of its window awnings.
“That owl healed you?” the old man asked his driver while Pip listened on after climbing out from the inside of the carriage. The old man was joined by the young woman.
Flinx would have been interested in the conversation that occurred after Pip assisted the occupants of the carriage, but he had long disconnected his senses from his familiar, so the only one who was listening was Pip.
“Yes, sire.”
“The owl is so powerful, Father. Not only can it cast spells to kill those bandits, but it can also heal? Is it a divine bird?” The young woman asked the man she called father.
“That tower wasn’t here before, so more than likely, it was conjured by a powerful wizard. More than likely, the owl is the familiar of the owner of that tower.”
“Should we knock to give our thanks to the wizard?”
The old man paused for a while to think while observing the owl and the tower.
“No. The wizard hadn’t shown themselves, so they’re not interested in meeting us. We can only be grateful that he or she still allowed their familiar to help us. We should leave for the city and not disturb the wizard anymore,” the old man who looked like a noble said with regret.
The old man and his daughter climbed into their carriage and left. Once they were gone, Flinx’s Wind Elemental went to the bandits’ corpses, gathered them, and threw them deep into the forest. It was actually Pip who commanded the elemental to do such a thing since the owl didn’t want Flinx to see something distasteful, like the bandits’ corpses, the next day.
Flinx would have been greatly surprised if he had learned that his familiar decided to do something that would have prevented something negative from impacting his day, because it would prove to him that his familiar’s sentience was growing.
The next day, Flinx started his journey early. He wanted to reach the Torbal Slavers’ headquarters as soon as possible. It was as if Flinx was being chased by some sort of death knell, and it was true in a way. The fact that the wizard had become careless again regarding the lives of the slaves from Earth meant that the Earthlings Dungeon Miner Slaves’ value had decreased, and there was a chance that the wizard would suddenly kill them all to wash their hands of the danger that the Earthlings represented.
If Flinx’s supposition regarding the enslavers’ fear that every slave from Earth had speculated for a long time, the wizard enslavers were correct in their fright, since an escaped Dungeon Miner Slave from Earth was now coming to their headquarters.
After a full day of flight, Flinx chose a campground inside the forest but still in sight of the road. He didn’t want anyone to disturb him since he didn’t have the time to involve himself with anyone.
He couldn’t go far from the road since it was the only thing that was telling Flinx that his path was correct. Thankfully, the road would keep on going until the kingdom of Gremos. From Gremos, he would need to search for the Torbal Slavers’ headquarters since the only direction he had was a general location.
After two more days of nonstop flight, bypassing every town and village along the way, he reached another city. According to the map that he purchased from the information broker in that unnamed town, the city of Drubar was a very dark city, almost equal to Gremos.
Flinx didn’t care since, just like with all the villages and towns along the way, he bypassed that dark city.
After Drubar, Flinx saw something terrible that broke his vow of not involving himself with anything. It was a slave caravan consisting of four wagons. He sent Pip to check things out and, using his familiar’s eyes, the last two wagons were filled with nothing but crying women and young girl children who were chained together using a very thick chain. They were all still wearing normal villager clothes, which meant that they were all freshly caught from the surrounding villages.
Using Pip’s eyes, there were around sixty women and children, and all of them were squeezed together in the last two wagons. There were around thirty men, and around three of them were wizards.
Even though the need to reach the Torbal Slavers’ headquarters was great, Flinx couldn’t leave the slave caravan alone. He commanded his Wind Elemental to kill the wizard as fast and as silently as it could, and once the three wizards were dead, he commanded Pip to kill all of the slavers in the caravan.
The wind elemental rushed down to the slave caravan and immediately targeted the three wizards who were foolishly gathered together in the first wagon.
Flinx’s wind elemental was extremely powerful since he did summon it using his eleventh-level spell slot. It effortlessly sliced off the heads of the three wizards. When the wind elemental communicated that the wizards were all dealt with, Pip started his killing spree.
Flinx joined his familiar by casting single-target spells towards the slavers. He didn’t want to use any spell that would cause a large area of effect since it might cause damage to the captured women.
Flinx, Pip, and the Wind Elemental effortlessly killed all of the slavers. In truth, it was the first time Flinx killed men. He knew that he would dream about the screams that the slavers made when he killed them, but for the moment, Flinx was filled with nothing but rage. The state of the captured women and children, most of whom had already been assaulted, caused Flinx to see nothing but red.
In hindsight, Flinx thought that the situation was a good practice for him since he also intended to cause mass murder, if he could, within the Torbal Slavers’ headquarters. Although he knew that more than likely, he wouldn’t be able to do such a thing, since the wizard enslavers were powerful magic casters, and even though a lot of them were killed by those religious nuts, their number was still large enough that Flinx couldn’t confront them head-on.
Once all of the slavers were dead, Flinx and the wind elemental gathered all of the corpses, including those of the three wizards, in one place. He intended for the women to loot the whole caravan, including the corpses, so they would have the resources to return to wherever they needed to go to escape these lands.
