Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 100 Sometimes, You Just Have to Be Proactive
Morgott had left, so to speak.
He had yielded this long-ravaged bridge to Mia.
At the same time, he had also ceded the path into Stormveil.
Does this count as clearing the level?
So, is this a one-life clear?
Well, this definitely can’t be compared to the game.
After all, persuasion played a huge role.
Following Morgott’s departure, a golden grace appeared on one side of the bridge.
The girl squinted at the sharp-angled castle walls not far away; they were actually completely empty.
As the territory of a Shardbearer, the defense was surprisingly lax.
Could it be that they outsourced all castle defense work, except for guarding the tunnel, to Margit, the Fell Omen?
The girl touched her face.
Thinking back to her earlier persuasion offensive, she felt a wave of embarrassment.
Fortunately, she had successfully persuaded Morgott to temporarily abandon his hostility toward her.
If she had failed, she would surely have been seen as a fool by any witnesses.
Right, speaking of witnesses…
Mia turned around and quickly ran toward Wilden and Melina.
Melina had already brought Wilden to a relatively safe place.
“Are you okay?”
Wilden was sitting on the railing by the bridge.
He looked as though he had recovered, just like Mia now.
The only problem was that he was very dirty.
Just like Mia.
“My Lord.”
As Mia walked over, Wilden stood up.
Wilden’s address caught Mia off guard.
“Lord?”
She had previously accepted Wilden’s formal allegiance, but she had never heard him use the word “Lord” to address her.
“My Lord, congratulations,” Wilden offered his blessing.
Mia’s breathing quickened a little.
Now, someone called her Lord.
Do you know how much of a psychological impact a title like that has on an obscure transmigrator from a past life?!
A smile immediately appeared on Mia’s face.
“You can just call me Mia—”
“Please become the Elden Lord.”
He had truly witnessed the conversation between Mia and Morgott.
In that moment, the girl’s figure seemed to merge with someone from the past.
Wilden firmly believed that Mia was the one who could stir up waves in The Lands Between, which had become a stagnant pool.
“…”
In that instant, Mia realized.
The responsibility contained within the title of Lord.
If one is a leader, having gained the respect of followers.
Then one must not forget the duties of being a leader.
The girl put away her smile and nodded at Wilden as if making a promise.
She could not feel complacent because of a title.
There were more things waiting for her to do in the future.
“Are you okay?”
Mia looked Wilden up and down.
There were no signs of damage to his chainmail and surcoat; Wilden nodded, indicating he was unharmed.
Next was Melina.
“Lady Mia, as the future Elden Lord, your fighting style is truly a bit… savage.”
Melina rubbed her wrist, her eyes filled with a hint of resentment.
However, her words were as sharp as ever.
Mia smiled apologetically, almost forgetting that Melina shared some of her sensations.
“Sorry, sorry, if I were alone, I probably could have died faster…”
To a normal person, Mia’s answer was equally confusing.
It was mainly because if she died in front of the boss while with Wilden, it would be difficult for him.
“If only there were water nearby.”
The bloodstains on her clothes were uncomfortable, and the large hole in her abdomen had turned this well-fitting travel outfit into a crop top…
However, her blood-stained appearance right now was definitely not a pretty sight.
Mia looked around, but apart from water, there wasn’t even a single person.
There was only the sound of the wind.
“That idiot Patches…”
Mia suddenly complained.
“Should we go back and find him?”
Melina asked.
“Let him be.” Mia curled her lip.
“Hmm.” Melina nodded. “Shall we continue?”
Mia glanced at the tunnel she had come from, then looked at the tall castle walls right in front of her.
This castle…
It was clearly much larger than in the game.
After all, The Lands Between had grown so much, too.
The girl pondered for a moment, then shook her head.
“No, let’s not enter the city yet.”
Amidst Melina and Wilden’s confusion, Mia smiled.
Wilden’s words, “Please become the Elden Lord,” gave Mia more ideas at this moment.
After briefly gathering all her thoughts, they merged into one sentence.
She needed to become stronger.
If she had been stronger today, perhaps Wilden would not have been seriously injured.
And she would not have needed to fight to the point of mutual destruction.
Most importantly, she realized that she could no longer face future powerful enemies with the mindset of ‘at worst, I’ll just die’.
As the journey continued, if she wanted to become the Elden Lord and coexist peacefully with the demigods, she would inevitably accept more allegiances.
Then future battles would be like today, and like those she had experienced before, battles of many against one.
Many against many was also not impossible.
If she, as the leader, went up to fight the enemy to the death with the idea of mutual destruction, what would happen to the others if she failed?
Take Wilden, for example. After Mia died, she only needed to open and close her eyes to teleport elsewhere and revive, but what about Wilden? Would he be left in front of the boss and hacked to death?
That would not do.
This was the first thing urging her to become stronger.
The second was that in her plan, as long as she could persuade Godrick, then Stormveil would be her sphere of influence.
Even if she couldn’t persuade him, in order to change The Lands Between, she had to use her strength to secure a foothold for herself.
She might be able to become the Elden Lord by slaughtering her way across the entire continent alone.
But that would absolutely not make this land any better.
Therefore, at this stage, she desperately needed strength.
At the same time, she also needed to figure out exactly how she should be an Elden Lord, and how she should bring change to The Lands Between.
Although she could convince herself that it wouldn’t be too late to think of a way once she had secured a sphere of influence.
But one should always set a goal before working towards it; how could there be any logic in working first and then setting a goal?
To wait until she had her own followers to then think about what to bring them, or what to bring to this land.
By that time, it would be too late.
After all, she had an agreement with Morgott.
Although Morgott had not replied to her, Mia preferred to consider this agreement as already established.
She herself needed a more definite goal to guide her forward, after all.
Furthermore.
If she encountered an enemy, pinning him down and beating him up before reasoning with him.
Versus fighting him to the death and reasoning with him after both sides were badly hurt.
These had completely different effects.
In summary.
Mia now hoped to further enhance her strength.
And entering Stormveil to reason with Godrick.
This matter could be pushed down in priority.
“Melina,” Mia stared at the grace nearby and suddenly called out, “Didn’t I say before that I can travel between worlds?”
Melina nodded, indicating she was listening.
“Then do you want to come along?”
The young girl turned her head, looking at Melina with a smile.
