Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 60 Even if the act of saving someone would put herself in danger...
Even if the act of saving someone would put herself in danger… Mia didn’t think her own life was worth that much.
Being able to revive at grace, although she hadn’t experienced death many times, the fact that she could revive was constantly subtly influencing her thoughts.
Dying once for a cause was, to Mia, as insignificant as a muscle strain or a sprained ankle.
When Patches lay so miserably before her, Mia knew that Patches could not revive.
She was willing to use what she had in abundance to help someone resolve a life-threatening crisis; it was like offering a warm meal to a wanderer. To Mia, it was a trivial effort, with no barriers, just a small act of kindness that depended on whether she was willing or not.
Mia didn’t care who was in front of her, didn’t care who was lying there; even if it were a stranger, she would still pull that Soldier out.
Moreover, Patches was not a stranger. Mia knew him. Although Patches acted very strangely, because of the game, Mia still held a certain fondness for this character.
She didn’t want to see anyone die in front of her.
Of course, those Hollows that couldn’t communicate, or enemies with only the desire to attack in their brains, were not included.
She ran back into the floating light particles, realizing it was already too late to drag Patches out.
So, she instantly threw herself onto Patches.
Give a recovery first!
She still had a long way to run for her corpse after she died; she had to ensure Patches could hold on even at that time!
Mia knelt by Patches’s head, her body curled into an arch, protecting this guy’s head and chest.
Patches had clearly already passed out.
Mia closed her eyes, and while casting the Prayer, she felt both nervous and expectant about the incoming attack.
What would it feel like to be hit by the Rain of Light?
Then, she was pressed to the ground by Wilden.
“Guh—”
The young girl’s small face made intimate contact with the pebbles on the ground.
The Rain of Light had descended, and the light, as if substantial, emitted a continuous sound of slicing through the air.
Wilden pressed Mia to the ground, with half of Mia’s body overlapping Patches.
The Soldier knelt halfway in the Rain of Light, shielding the two of them beneath him.
The streams of light struck the brass shield on Wilden’s back, emitting a series of dull clashing sounds.
Mia trembled; a stream of light pierced through her unprotected calf.
And some streams of light also passed through Wilden’s shoulder.
“What are you doing!”
The immobile Mia asked loudly in anxiety.
Wilden’s golden eyes looked at her profile.
“I will not let the Soldier I follow die in front of me again.”
He spoke a sentence that Mia would remember, but found hard to understand.
“I will revive!”
Mia saw the Soldier’s body trembling under the heavy rain; the brass shield couldn’t protect his whole body, and light pierced through his hand.
A beam of light passed through Wilden’s neck, leaving a shallow bloody scratch on Mia’s face.
“That won’t do either.”
The Soldier replied in an unrefusable tone.
Before Mia could say more, Wilden urged, “Heal him quickly.”
He released the hand that was pressing down on Mia.
Mia pursed her lips and got up; the piercing wound on her calf was still gushing with warm blood.
Wilden was also wounded.
Thus, Mia released an area-of-effect recovery Prayer, and all three were shrouded in the circle of light.
A moment later, the Rain of Light ceased, and Patches opened his eyes again.
The first thing he did upon regaining consciousness was to stare fixedly at Mia with tear-filled eyes, grabbing her hand: “I’m sorry, I will never run away again!”
Having said that, he fainted again.
Mia breathed a sigh of relief.
She looked up; Wilden, who had been protecting her the whole time, also stood up.
The young girl looked at the loyal Soldier with a complex expression.
“I’m sorry…” She hadn’t expected her actions to put Wilden in danger as well: “Actually… you… we…”
She stammered, never having thought that this journey had actually left an important mark in Wilden’s heart.
What Mia had originally thought was that the two would separate at the foot of Stormveil.
After all, Wilden was Godrick’s Soldier.
But that sentence just now evoked a different emotion in Mia’s heart; the young girl realized that a close-knit friendship had formed between the two.
“The thing you said before… the Soldier you once followed, was it not Godrick?”
“We had better leave quickly.” Wilden did not answer Mia’s question, but straightforwardly stated the next phase of action.
“Alright.”
I’ll ask later if there’s a chance.
Mia did not dwell on that question.
“Let’s get Patches out first, then we’ll come back…”
White light particles appeared again.
“I’ll do it.”
Wilden strode forward and hoisted Patches, whose clothes were covered in blood, onto his shoulder.
“Wait…”
Looking at the blood on Patches, Mia’s heart suddenly sank.
The culprit who made Patches so miserable was certainly not the Miranda Flower… then it would be…
A roar like a deafening bell suddenly rang out.
The ruins around them exploded violently under a heavy blow!
