Endless Debt
Chapter 1513 - 66: Civil War (Part 2)
"We are quite similar to the All Secrets Order, both placing a certain entity in the supreme position, but the difference is, the All Secrets Order chose the Condenser, while we chose all of humanity."
He continued, "For all of humanity, the Seeker of Glory is also a cherished resource."
Bologue’s gaze was lowered, recalling past conversations with Nesanel. Those words unfolded like prophecies being fulfilled today, and an inexplicable feeling filled his mind.
"Alright, I understand."
Bologue accepted Nesanel’s request and then spoke in a more severe tone, "But, Deputy Director, a living Seeker of Glory, even one unable to exert full power, is better than a corpse, a severed head."
He mimicked Nesanel’s manner and coldly quantified everything, "The Seeker of Glory is a resource, but its usage efficiency must be considered; not a bit should be wasted."
"Mm."
Nesanel nodded, his eyes slightly narrowed, acknowledging Bologue’s words and hurried the healing at his chest, even without full strength, he must provide some combat power, knowing he’s far from retirement.
"Go ahead, once I’ve rested, I’ll catch up with you."
Nesanel said, glancing at the roaring reactor behind him, "Then... I’ll find a way to shut it down. If we destroy this power system, that pesky Aurora Path can be crippled."
The action plan concluded, Bologue wasted no more time, climbing the scorched long ladder, listening to his gradually fading footsteps, leaving only Nesanel behind once more.
Nesanel leaned back, sighing, "Ah... is this what it feels like to unload a heavy burden, Lebius?"
Once a newcomer, now grown up, taking on the responsibilities of the old, like cells multiplying and aging, cyclically replaced; even the tender seedlings can push apart massive stones, growing into towering trees.
Nesanel let out a hoarse laugh, feeling retiring to the second line might not be that bad, resting in tranquility, until he sensed the approaching Ether reaction.
The nearing footsteps shattered Nesanel’s daydreams, watching that figure emerge from the passage, he felt no regret in his serene state, seemingly at peace with himself; if there were any regret, it was merely fear of not returning to the others.
"Quite the coincidence, Spirit Duke."
Nesanel stood up, revealing that strong and confident smile, greeting the other party first.
The Spirit Duke surveyed Nesanel warily, noticing the carnage all around and seeing the grievous chest wound that almost killed Nesanel.
Clearly, Nesanel was very vulnerable now; it might be an opportunity to kill him once and for all.
To kill Nesanel...
Just the thought brought a mix of shock and joy to the Spirit Duke’s mind.
Such an achievement would easily earn the Spirit Duke a seat in the Ancestral Council, indulging in eternal gifts within the narrow Earthly Celestial Kingdom. But amidst overwhelming joy, the looming consequences made him dread.
Not to mention whether he could truly kill Nesanel, just the aftermath - the flaming revenge from the Order Bureau, could he withstand it?
Nesanel interrupted the Spirit Duke’s fantasy, "Why are you silent, deciding whether to make a move?"
The Spirit Duke still didn’t respond, but the aurora surrounding him grew more dazzling, his Ether intensity surpassing the original Defender, reaching the realm of the Seeker of Glory.
"Oh, you’ve made your choice? Truly regrettable."
Nesanel spoke while stretching, confident he should have wiped out all High Tier Condensers of the Rebellious Royal Court in the Ethereal Realm; there were only a few remaining in the Land of Secrets, and he needed to block the Spirit Duke to prevent him from interfering in Bologue and others’ decisive battle.
"Indeed, very regrettable."
A new voice arose behind the Spirit Duke.
The Duke of Origin emerged from the shadows behind the Spirit Duke, frenetic Ether spread around him, transforming into countless arcs, crackling.
Since leaving the Nest Core, the Duke of Origin had been tracking Bologue’s Ether residue, attempting to eliminate this disruptive figure within the Land of Secrets. But, unexpectedly, Bologue had come to the Supreme Hub and encountered severely injured Nesanel.
The Duke of Origin’s actions coincided with the Spirit Duke’s, gathering once more; Aurora Power endowed upon him, further enhancing his already Seeker of Glory strength.
Facing the fully armed duo, Nesanel suddenly felt a sense of clarity, thinking he might actually die here, wondering if his head could be preserved, even if preserved, would he avoid brain death...
Nesanel’s expression turned forlorn; he wasn’t afraid of dying, yet the thought of not returning to the others filled him with desolation.
The sorrowful look fell into the eyes of the two, mistakenly thinking Nesanel had plunged into despair, spurring fervent battle spirit in their hearts.
The Duke of Origin summoned several Ether lightning bolts, the entangled Thunder transformed into roaring Thunder Dragons, charged towards Nesanel, while the Spirit Duke unleashed a string of Psychic Shocks, ignoring physical barriers, directly targeting Nesanel’s psyche.
