Chapter 665: Chapter 631: The Thunder Tribulation Appears

"That’s not right," the old man said, smiling at Calamity again. "Who told you our Lord is gone? Their king is still alive, so how could our Lord have perished?"

Calamity froze. His hair, which had been blazing with Golden Flame, instantly faded to white and went limp. "What did you just say?" he asked, bewildered.

The old man chuckled. "A while ago, I did receive a report from our spies that the king over there is still alive. At the time, I felt just as you do. After all, with an enemy of that caliber, we are no match. But then, just recently, the Lord’s Chaos Supreme Treasure suddenly emanated a powerful will. I happened to be right there, and this will delivered an astonishing message—the Lord is alive as well."

The corner of Calamity’s mouth twitched violently twice. This emotional whiplash left his heart reeling. Veins bulged on his forehead as he said, his tone dangerously playful, "So... you’re saying you were messing with me just now, you old fossil?"

The old man narrowed his eyes to slits. "How could that be? Everything I said earlier was the truth. Even though the Lord is alive, our situation remains unchanged. If we don’t eliminate that fellow first, we’ll be the ones who are annihilated."

"Why?" Calamity asked, confused.

The old man gazed down below again and sighed. "Have you forgotten my earlier question? Do you believe your descendants can reach the Upper Realm through their own power?"

Calamity’s expression grew bewildered once more, but then his pupils shrank. "Don’t tell me... you mean the Lord is...!"

The old man’s gaze grew distant as he nodded. "He’s on the Primordial Continent."

"..." Calamity fell silent. But just as he did, his silence was shattered. A pillar of rainbow-colored light suddenly erupted from the ground below, shooting toward the heavens of the Upper Realm. However, the pillar was instantly intercepted by a flash of Nine-Colored Thunder Light and suppressed.

"What is this?" The old man paused, startled, before breaking into a smile. "Interesting. It’s just like what happened seven years ago. Except last time, it was concealed the moment it appeared. This one is far more intense. It seems those fellows over there are up to their usual Low Level tricks again."

Calamity sneered. "Only those guys over there would be bored enough to play such childish games. If I recall correctly, the one who can wield Nine-Colored Thunder is a fellow named Tian Wei, isn’t he?"

"Mm, that’s likely him. What I’m more curious about, however, is who on the Primordial Continent could manage to surpass the Gate’s restrictions twice in a row." As he spoke, the old man flipped his hand over, and a massive mirror formed entirely of black crystal appeared in the sky with a WHOOSH. "Care to take a look? We can watch the genius from the Primordial Continent meet his end."

Calamity snorted. "No, I’m not interested. He’s about to be destroyed anyway. As disgusting as their methods are, it’s a rule that has been upheld in the Upper Realm for eons. Anyone who tries to break through the Gate before reaching the threshold will certainly be punished..."

!!

The old man’s mouth fell open, and his voice trembled as he said, "He’s breaking through the Gate!"

Calamity roared, "Quick! Use the Sky Mirror and see who it is!"

Startled, the old man shot a beam of black light from between his eyebrows onto the Sky Mirror. An instant later, a clear image materialized within it. The mirror showed a rainbow-colored pillar of light, and floating in its center was a young man of about twenty. Though his eyes were weary, his expression was one of absolute pride. The moment he saw this man, Calamity’s pupils shrank, and his face darkened. A voice then drifted out from the Sky Mirror.
