Chapter 187: Putting On Pants

Angel was sitting in the living room watching an intense morning show when April came walking out of the bedroom, actively struggling to fit into one of her tight pants.

"Papi, I really can’t get these pants to buckle up right now... can you please help me with this? I’m running super late..." April said, standing directly in front of Angel.

Angel’s eyes were still firmly fixed on the glowing screen, but her hands blindly reached out, trying to button her pregnant wife’s tight pants.

April quickly realized that her wife was far too focused on the morning show to be of any real help.

Katie had originally introduced the popular show to her at the cafe. She had been watching it for days, and when Angel came to pick her up one afternoon, she ended up sitting down to watch it alongside her while waiting for April to get ready to head back home.

Now Angel had gone out of her way to mount a television right on the wall in their living room, right where they were originally supposed to put up their main family portrait.

The large portrait had been carefully moved into their private bedroom instead.

"Papi, focus on my pants right now before I turn off that TV you are busy staring at..." April said, her voice starting to sound thoroughly annoyed because Angel was far too distracted by the show.

Angel’s eyes finally drifted down from the wall screen to look at the pants.

The exact moment she saw what April was desperately trying to pull on and wear to work today, she already knew there was no physical way they were going to zip up.

Her wife’s growing baby bump was simply not going to allow it at all.

"Come on, Bebe... these are definitely not going to fit you today."

"Why? Am I fat now that I can’t fit into my own pants anymore? Is that really what you are trying to say to me right now?"

"Huh? I’m not saying you are fat at all. These pants are just not suitable for you at the moment, and I’m completely sure you won’t be comfortable wearing them all day. Wear something loose instead, like those pretty gowns Grandma Lucinda made for you..." Angel suggested gently, trying to keep her tone calm.

"I seriously cannot believe this right now. I can’t even fit into the normal clothes I used to wear every day. My favorite top doesn’t fit me anymore... Angel, what on earth is happening to me...?" April cried out, tears welling up in her eyes.

Angel already knew exactly what was happening.

Her wife’s sensitive pregnancy hormones were completely all over the place again today.

"Come here, baby..."

Angel pulled April down to sit comfortably on her lap, holding her tight to comfort her and give her some warm affection.

"You are like pregnant right now, okay? That is the exact reason why all of this is happening. Things change naturally. Your body is changing so fast, and so are your emotions. You are just getting overwhelmed by everything lately. It’s totally fine, okay? In just a few more short months, you will be right back to easily wearing these exact jeans and that top you don’t fit into right now. Okay, hmm? My sweet baby girl is a very strong woman..." Angel said softly, fixing a stray lock of April’s dark hair before leaning in to kiss her softly on the cheek.

"Yes, I am a strong woman, and I will just wear the loose gown today. These stupid jeans, I don’t need them right now anyway... Thank you so much, Papi..." April said, sniffing as she wiped her eyes.

She stood up off Angel’s lap and headed straight back into the bedroom to change her clothes.

Angel let out a quiet sigh, thinking everything was finally settled now.

Finally, she could turn back around and focus completely on her TV show again.

"Come help me change right now, Papi... You are literally the main reason I am in this whole pregnant condition in the first place! And you better turn off that stupid TV right this second and come get yourself ready for the ranch..." April’s voice called out loudly from the bedroom.

Angel immediately grabbed the remote and switched off the television without hesitation. She jumped straight off the couch and headed into the bedroom to help April pull down the tight pants and put on the light gown before getting herself fully dressed in her ranch attire.

After sitting down and having the breakfast April had prepared for them, Angel got the Jeep ready outside, arranged her wife’s bags, and drove her straight to work.

On their drive over to work, Angel gently reminded April that she was going to be working directly with Mary that day and following her all the way out of town.

April did not see a single problem with the plan at all.

She was actually super happy that her wife had told her about it beforehand. She was also really glad that Angel was finally mingling more with Mary and Benny, especially since Angel always used to complain about not liking Benny one bit.

Today, Angel was escorting Benny’s wife out of town. It was supposed to be a short two-day trip for them. Mary, who was under the strong impression that Angel wanted to tag along strictly because she wanted to learn the inner workings of the Mafia way, had no idea about Angel’s true hidden intentions.

Mary mentioned to her that they would not be spending the night outside Playa Linda at all and would return home before it got too late.

After Angel safely dropped her wife off at her workplace, she made sure to tell Katie to drive April straight back home if she didn’t come back to pick her up early enough.

Then Angel started up the Jeep engine and drove straight over to the Martinez house.
