Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2613: Where There Is Hope, There Is Everything
"Come in."
Will Caddel turned around, stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, his face wearing its usual calm expression.
"CEO Caddel, this is the proposal for the new quarter, and last month’s project settlement." She put the documents on his desk. "Please take a look and sign."
"Okay, just leave them there."
"Alright, I’ll head back to my office. I’ll make the arrangements for the board meeting this afternoon, just to make sure nothing goes wrong."
ZR rarely held board meetings; this was the first one since Jasmine Yale had joined ZR, and she took it very seriously.
She’d heard that Will Caddel’s father, President Caddel, would also be coming.
She had been working with Will for more than half a year now; as the deputy secretary to the VP, she still hadn’t met the chairman.
President Caddel was both ZR’s chairman and its CEO, holding great power, but he didn’t like to bother with day-to-day affairs, leaving the group’s operations to Will.
Will was silent for a moment, then looked at her. "You don’t have much to do at the board meeting this afternoon. Go help me deliver the contract to Oasis Technology, and while you’re there, discuss next quarter’s cooperation."
"Wasn’t that supposed to be not urgent? As for the board meeting, maybe I should still attend, I need to take the minutes..."
"You’re not needed. You go to Oasis."
"Got it." Jasmine looked at Will. She nodded and could only obey his arrangement.
Will very rarely spoke to her in such a firm tone.
"Then, CEO Caddel, I’ll go back to the office next door."
"Mm."
She left.
It was the height of a sunny autumn day, the morning light bright, dewdrops clear.
Jasmine went back to her own office and sorted out the contract with Oasis Technology. Since Will had told her she didn’t need to attend the board meeting this afternoon, she had no choice but to follow the arrangement.
In fact, she really did want to attend the board meeting.
But it was also possible that Will needed to discuss some major issues with President Caddel and it wouldn’t be convenient for her to be there. Either way, all she had to do was listen to Will.
Going to Oasis was the same; it was something that had to be done sooner or later anyway.
Afternoon.
After eating in the cafeteria, Jasmine called Will.
"CEO Caddel, where are you? I’ve already given everything needed for the meeting to Tom. If you need anything, just get it from him. I’m planning to head to Oasis at two this afternoon."
"Two in the afternoon is too late. Go now. I’ve called their technical director; he said he’ll be waiting for you in the lobby. Don’t keep him waiting."
"Is that so? Then I’ll go over first. Is there anything else you need me to do?"
"Nothing else."
"Okay."
Jasmine hung up, put the documents in her bag, and went downstairs with her laptop.
Because of the board meeting, she was dressed very formally today: a light gray blazer, white shirt, black trousers, high heels, her long hair pinned up, making her look capable and proper.
Calls came in from time to time; Jasmine took them while sorting through the documents.
As her work settled into a rhythm, she had more and more to do, and she became busier and busier. Working overtime had become routine.
But she really liked this sense of busyness, with almost not a single free moment. From the time she arrived at ZR in the morning, her day would be filled with work. At the busiest times, she’d be answering the phone with one hand and typing with the other, the computer on, the copier running, documents piled all over the desk.
She didn’t feel tired of it at all; in fact, she enjoyed it.
Because through work she could see hope and a future.
Where there is hope, there is everything.
By now she had saved quite a bit of money. She thought, if she saved for another year, she’d be able to buy a place of her own on her own merits.
