Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2665: The Pain of Farewell
"You’ll still be very busy. Believe me, you won’t be able to handle everything alone. Being a single mom is too exhausting." Butler Santana’s heart ached; every word carried her distress.
"I can do it. I’m still young. I have to learn to walk on my own sooner or later."
"Miss Yale, then... why don’t you find someone to be with? You’ll definitely meet someone you like in the future. What about Justin Usama? Are you two still in touch?"
Jasmine Yale shook her head. "No, we’re not. We just don’t work."
"Then I’ll introduce a few more to you? I’ve thought about this. I was actually planning to leave after you had your own family. Really, let me look after you and Little Clementine a while longer. You’ve always been so thin, that’s not good at all, and Little Clementine is at the age when she needs nutrition the most."
"Butler Santana, fate is something far too hard to wait for. I’m a bit tired of waiting, and a bit tired of chasing. I often think, maybe I should just stand where I am, neither waiting nor chasing anymore. Maybe that would be better."
"Miss Yale, don’t lose heart. In this world, there’s always someone who appears just for you, only for you. You have to believe that."
"Maybe." Jasmine Yale smiled faintly, neither agreeing nor denying. "Butler Santana, I can’t keep holding you back. With your abilities, you can go work as a housekeeper in a very good family. You don’t owe me anything."
"Miss Yale, I truly, genuinely care about you and Little Clementine. That’s why I’m willing to stay. I’m all alone, with no family. In my heart, I’ve long since treated you as family. I watched Little Clementine be born with my own eyes."
"Butler Santana, I’m planning to take Little Clementine and leave Cakago."
"What?" Butler Santana was stunned. "Where to? Did you run into some kind of trouble? Is it that Erin Janus? She’s been targeting you all this time!"
"No, no trouble. I just want to live in a different city."
"Miss Yale, I understand..."
"So, Butler Santana, I don’t know when we’ll be able to see each other again in the future. I hope you’ll live well. Little Clementine and I will also live well."
When she finished, Butler Santana’s eyes grew moist. She had never imagined there would come a day when Jasmine Yale would be the one to suggest parting.
She had long since regarded Jasmine Yale as a daughter. Jasmine also had Little Clementine call her ’Grandma Santana.’
She’d thought she could always take care of them, even watch Little Clementine grow up.
Jasmine Yale’s eyes were moist as well.
In this world, the moment of parting is always painful. Hopefully, time can wash everything away.
Just like Aunt Hurst back then—she had so, so loved her cooking, but after all these years had passed, she’d gotten used to it.
Some wounds can only be left to time to heal.
Jasmine Yale didn’t speak again, and Butler Santana also fell silent. In the kitchen, only the sounds of chopping and running water remained.
Jasmine watched Butler Santana cook, quietly learning at her side.
Butler Santana was not someone who talked much, but right now she kept sighing. "Miss Yale, where are you going? If one day Mr. Cheney asks about you..."
"He won’t ask. His daughter is about to be born."
"Miss Yale, then where will you go?"
"I haven’t decided yet. Once I do, maybe I’ll write you a letter."
"Then will you ever come back to Cakago?"
"No. This place is neither my hometown nor somewhere I can settle down. There’s nothing much to hold on to. Butler Santana, don’t worry, I can take good care of myself and Little Clementine. I’ve worked at ZR for over half a year and saved up quite a bit. I could even buy a house now." She smiled as she said it.
When she smiled, Butler Santana only felt her heart ache.
