Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna

Chapter 578: Facing The Outcome Of The Birth

"When can she be discharged?" he asked, looking at Viola, who looked almost fragile amid the sheets.

He fought the urge to go to her, pepper her face with kisses, and tell her how proud he was of her. She looked so tired and worn out that he didn’t want to disturb her rest. A warmth spread through his chest and coursed through his bloodstream as he watched her. Damn, he loved this woman so much it felt unreal.

However, when he noticed one of the omegas attending to her wiping her neck a little too roughly, he immediately warned, "Do that gently if you don’t want your hands severed."

The omega was so startled by the sudden threat that she almost dropped the wipes. She quickly bowed her head, gritting her teeth internally.

She knew their Luna had just lost another great opportunity to earn the pack’s complete respect by giving birth to twin girls and a weak son. It wasn’t enough that she had no clear background; now, she had altered the history of their pack, and things were bound to go south.

The omega was none other than one of the people who had attended to Viola during her earlier days in Silver, when she could barely see. Back then, she had subtly made Viola’s time in the healing house difficult, taking advantage of her vulnerability.

"Y-yes, Supreme Alpha," the omega replied, resuming her task with greater care.

Sebastian continued watching her, his eyes narrowing as though he could somehow hear her thoughts. Under his scrutiny, the omega grew increasingly nervous, careful not to make another mistake that might earn her the Alpha’s wrath.

"Replace her, I don’t want her attending to my wife, Gilbert. Send her to work somewhere else in the pack." He ordered, not liking the look in the omega’s eyes or the fact that she had scrubbed Viola’s neck a little too hard, enough to make it pink. He certainly didn’t want someone like that next to his wife and children during their stay here.

Gilbert turned to the omega, who looked rattled by the Alpha’s words and wanted to plead, as the healing house was a place to learn skills, and anyone working there had more privileges than the others.

"You heard the Alpha, Denise. Pack your things and head to the Head Beta’s to be assigned to another position. Perry, you replace her and make sure the Luna is comfortable."

Gilbert ordered the other omega, Perry, who was arranging the crib, and Denise, who had been smug towards the Luna In the past, was sent out with Sebastian’s eyes on her, daring her to plead so he could increase her punishment, for everyone knew he didn’t take pleading after giving orders.

But on second thought, he stopped her. "Denise, is it?" he asked.

The omega turned hopeful eyes toward their handsome Alpha and nodded almost eagerly. "Y-yes, Supreme Alpha." She bowed, thinking for a moment that she might be given a second chance.

"If I hear the genders of my babies being revealed outside this room, I will know you were the one who spread the news, and I will come for you. I won’t just make you lose your place here. You will lose your tongue along with it. Do I make myself clear?" he demanded almost calmly, so much so that anyone listening would have thought he was asking about her comfort rather than issuing a warning.

Denise, who had been itching to spread the news before his warning, felt a shiver of fear run down her spine and swallowed nervously.

"Y-yes, Supreme Alpha."

He dismissed her and turned to the other omega beside his wife.

Sebastian didn’t take his eyes off the replacement omega until he was certain she was wiping with care, and then he returned to his conversation with the doctor.

"When can she be taken home?" He repeated to the doctor.

"She needs to remain here until her body has healed completely, and then she will be allowed to go home." Gilbert answered Sebastian’s question.

"What about him? Can I see the baby boy?"

"Sure, you can. I’ll take you there." Gilbert offered.

Sebastian walked up to Viola, leaned down, and pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead, his fingers brushing her cheek gently, caressing it with the back of his knuckles.

"Rest, sweetheart," he whispered. "I’ll be back soon."

He straightened, his silver eyes turning toward the twin girls being cleaned. A strange warmth bloomed in his chest as he watched the two tiny bundles. His daughters. He had two daughters... two little girls he would raise differently from how he had raised his sister.

The thought alone made his heart ache with a tenderness and confliction he had never known before. They were so small, their delicate limbs moving beneath the soft towels as the omegas gently cleaned them. Their tiny cries filled the room, and Sebastian found himself longing to go to them, to see their little faces and discover which features they had inherited from him and which they had taken from their mother.

He wanted to hold them against his chest, kiss their tiny foreheads, and whisper to them that their father was right there. He wanted to memorize every little detail of their faces, to make up for the months he had spent away from their development in the womb.

But he had to see the other one first.

His fragile little boy was somewhere beyond this room, fighting a battle he was far too young to understand, and Sebastian couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him waiting any longer.

With one last lingering look at his daughters, he turned toward Gilbert, his heart torn between the three precious lives he had been blessed with unexpectedly.

"Take me to him."

Outside the room, his grandma and the others tried to stop him to ask what was wrong, but he had to keep the news to himself for now, before it started to spread around the pack that they hadn’t gotten twin boys, and he kept his expression passive as he passed them.

Sebastian followed Gilbert down the hallway, his heart heavy with worry as they approached the special care unit. The moment the doors opened, his eyes immediately fell on the tiny baby lying inside a transparent incubator, surrounded by equipment that made his chest tighten.

’His son.’ He thought, not knowing how to feel about it.
