The diesel engine gave a long, ragged backfire before the old wooden lugger slid into the narrow, brick-lined drainage dock beneath the central district. The air inside this underground canal was completely different from the salt air of the reef; it was thick, wet, and smelled of heavy engine grease, dry sulfur, and the cold static of the central city’s electronic shield network.

Jun-ho sat on the long cedar storage chest inside the narrow hold, his large rubber boots caked in a dry salt crust. He had the stone-gray slabs of the Ashen Monarch Core Plate buckled tight over his tattered gray shirt. His left hand kept a loose, steady grip on the rough black hemp wrap of The Ash Remnant, the solid matte-black wedge resting cold against his knees.

Right at the corner of his eye, the solid black status text box opened across his vision, perfectly silent.

Rea sat right at his side on the edge of the wooden locker, the high-slashed silk of her black tunic parting all the way to her upper thigh to show the long, smooth curve of her leg. Her golden-blue eyes spun slowly under the dim yellow light of the oil lamp, her full crimson lips curved into a lazy smile. She leaned her entire weight flat against his arm, her voluptuous hourglass shape pressing close, her wild orchid perfume cutting straight through the close, grease-stained air of the cabin.

"The main treasury bunker is right behind the old brick siding line," Rea whispered, her voice dropping into a smooth, sultry purr against his neck. Her fingers slowly traced a small line down his forearm with a teasing, light friction. "The Sun God office keeps their raw unrefined crystals inside six steel security vaults there. They think the entrance is secure because the Ministry has a Tier 5 tracking loop running on the upper turnstiles."

Eun-bi sat across the narrow cabin aisle on the edge of the canvas cot, her canvas bag slung tight across her gray flannel shirt. Her dark hair was tied back with a gauze pad, but her sharp face carried that regular, flat public-sector drawl as she adjusted her clipboard. Her bare thigh stayed pressed firmly against the side of Jun-ho’s rubber boot for stability.

"The manual paper logs say the vault room has an automated chemical vent," Eun-bi muttered, her fingers tightening around her silver trauma scissors. "If we force the front locks, the loop will drop three layers of reinforced stone barriers to seal the room from the outside. We need a master key that can bypass the central district terminal."

Before Jun-ho could answer, a sudden, heavy pressure dropped over the small crew hold, a dark crimson density that made the flame inside the oil lamp twitch and turn a deep, blood-red color.

The iron door of the hold didn’t just creak; it was pushed open slowly by a bare hand tipped with long, sharp crimson nails. Out of the dark purple mist of the drainage canal walked a woman who didn’t look like any unranked human runner or legacy guild broker in Seoul.

She was a purebred Demon Rogue Class asset named Lilith.

She was breathtakingly beautiful, with a face that looked like flawless white marble and a pair of wide, luminous crimson eyes that glowed with a lazy, dangerous fire. Her long, ink-black hair fell all the way down to her narrow, perfect waist in soft waves. Her physical frame was shaped with a hyper-feminine, perfect hourglass curve that was intensely alluring. She wore a tight, skin-cling crimson leather outfit that was slashed low at the front, exposing a massive, perfectly rounded half-visible chest that rose and fell with her slow breathing.

The leather pulled tight around her narrow waist, accentuating a large, round, and perfectly fit ass that curved smoothly down to her exceptionally long, smooth legs.

Her posture was intensely sexy, her hips swaying in a slow, rhythmic cadence as she took a single, slow step onto the deck boards, her full red lips parting into a low, sultry chuckle that made the water inside the engine buckets ripple in perfect circles.

"You’re very loud for a rogue vanguard hiding in the mudflats," Lilith whispered, her voice dropping into a smooth, velvety register that carried the sharp scent of raw sulfur and dark incense. She walked right up to Jun-ho’s side, her long legs cutting a clean line through the dim light, her round hips wedged tight against his stone-gray plate armor as she leaned her chest right against his shoulder. Her crimson eyes locked straight onto the matte-black hilt of The Ash Remnant. "The legacy families have already placed a forty-million-won bounty on your name, big guy. But I don’t care about the corporate paper money. I want the core logic inside that ledger."

Rea let out a short, soft laugh that sounded like silk sliding over stone, her golden-blue eyes spinning in a lazy, sharp circle as she drew her obsidian dagger from her thigh strap. She didn’t look back at Eun-bi, her hip shifting as she maintained her position on his opposite side.

"The demon girl knows the neighborhood, Jun-ho. She runs the private black-market lines for the lower vaults. If she says the bunker is open, the mages are already trapped."

Eun-bi stood up right next to his shoulder, her yellow rain jacket rustling as she clutched her scissors, her sharp face set in a hard, stubborn line as she looked at Lilith’s revealing leather top. "The detail is unranked, Jun-ho. But if she tries to touch the ledger before the raid is registered, I’m locking the terminal from behind."

Jun-ho didn’t pull back an inch from either woman. He stood up from his cedar chest, his large rubber boots making a quiet, firm thud on the floorboards as he gripped the rough hemp wrap of his sword with his left hand.

"The bunker is ten meters past the brick siding," Jun-ho said flatly.

He led the way out of the cabin hatch, Lilith’s long bare arm brushing slowly against his sleeve with a teasing, hot friction, while the solid black text at the bottom of his eye began to count down the final meters until the high-stakes city vault raid.
