Global Game: I Have Portable Store
Chapter 893 - 246: Corpse Ghost
"It’s empty inside, there’s nothing here."
Looking around in the small convenience store, it’s completely deserted, not even a single zombie.
"Someone must have been here recently, but they didn’t alert the nearby zombies."
Su Changxing is curled up under a broken cabinet, motionless. Those people didn’t specifically come in to check, only glanced inside from the doorway.
At such a close distance, humans would definitely be discovered even if they hid; heartbeat, breathing, and the heat emitted to the outside world are all easily detectable signs.
However, zombies are different; they blend into the surroundings. If they remain still and don’t roar, they’re like a rock, naturally possessing a hidden ability.
"The Book of Black Fire was taken by those people with Wang Chao, but I’ve heard they started fighting among themselves because of it."
"Indeed, quite laughable. But I’ve heard that thing is not simple either; it seems to come from an orange-colored shop."
...
An orange shop?
Su Changxing estimates this thing is likely the Mysterious Shop or something similar. People are still being thrown into this place, and the Mysterious Shop still exists, with many changes happening.
Those thrown into this place seem much stronger than people from their world.
But correspondingly, the zombies here are also much more formidable.
Just as Su Changxing thought they were about to leave, one person suddenly stopped, turned back, and looked over:
"No, there is something else here."
He sensed something strange, felt he was being watched by something, thus determined there must be something else in this convenience store.
In the apocalypse, everyone’s nerves are constantly tense, and any anomaly would trigger extreme vigilance.
Su Changxing didn’t expect to be so unlucky, thinking that maybe his hiding spot was a bit off, leading to this encounter with this group of people.
In his current status, he likely couldn’t defeat them, so he had to think of a way to escape. The convenience store has a back door; if he can run out from there, he could escape.
The street is full of zombies; if he can dash through the street, these people certainly can’t catch up with him.
As footsteps approached, Su Changxing was about to get up and flee when he suddenly heard a scream from the doorway.
"Corpse Ghost!"
"Run, it’s a Corpse Ghost!"
He clearly felt something heavily hit the wall outside the convenience store, causing the entire building to tremble briefly.
The few people in the room no longer cared about what was behind the cabinet, turned, and ran towards the back door, almost without a hint of wanting to resist, only thinking about fleeing.
That thing is likely an invincible existence to them, hence they only think of escaping.
Su Changxing felt his luck seemed too rotten; he just wanted to stay quietly in a corner, being a silent zombie, yet even such a simple wish was hard to fulfill.
This group probably had more than ten people, likely because there were too many gathered, leading to such a monster.
Judging from the sounds, several people were killed instantly.
The sound of flesh being sliced, bones cracking, made the zombie’s scalp tingle.
Soon, it was quiet outside, seemingly everyone had left. Su Changxing stood up, poked his head out, and looked towards the door.
The air suddenly became oppressive.
A humanoid monster, only licking its claws, turned its head to look at him. Its body was slender, over three meters tall, bald with sharp claws.
It seemed to have always known Su Changxing was behind the cabinet.
Su Changxing also felt extremely stiff, considering the monster’s power, killing him probably wouldn’t take any effort.
He saw that the monster didn’t seem intent on attacking, guessing that as a zombie, he probably wasn’t attractive to it, as long as he didn’t do anything too noticeable to catch its attention.
He discreetly pulled his head back under the cabinet, continuing to curl up as if nothing happened.
In his experience, these zombie-like monsters generally don’t have high intelligence, the other party likely wouldn’t care about him as a mere ordinary zombie.
While thinking.
Su Changxing saw a round head popping out above the cabinet, scarlet eyes with a hint of curiosity, the mouth still smeared with blood, and meat residue.
"Hiss hiss."
Su Changxing stiffly smiled, reached out to greet, tried to speak but found he could only let out meaningless roars.
"Hiss hiss."
"Hiss hiss."
"Hiss hiss."
"Hiss hiss."
...
This is roughly how the matter went.
Su Changxing became its little brother, and didn’t have much of a choice, after all, he belonged to the weaker side.
Plus, with this big brother, he now has someone covering him, much safer for the time being.
"Hiss hiss."
Su Changxing watched the other leave, exhaling a sigh of relief in his heart; communicating with such a thing showed his extremely high comprehension.
Even though he became its little brother, staying beside it still felt excessively dangerous, who knows if something might go awry, and the monster would eat him.
Attracted by the blood scent, many zombies from nearby streets surrounded the area.
Su Changxing rummaged through the corpses’ backpacks and found a few Extraordinary Crystals, smaller in size compared to the black crystal obtained earlier.
Extraordinary Crystals are considered lethal poison to ordinary people; 99% would die upon consumption, although there’s a 1% chance of becoming an Extraordinary.
The question is, can zombies consume this stuff?
Su Changxing didn’t dare to eat it directly, packed usable items into one of the larger backpacks, swung it onto his back, and turned to leave.
Though his body was stained with the smell of blood, the surrounding zombies showed no reaction towards him, apparently able to distinguish their kind.
In a world like this, living as a zombie is obviously much simpler than as a human, provided one doesn’t seek death.
Su Changxing walked along the street eastward for a distance, then found a building reasonably intact and prepared to go upstairs to find a corner to hide.
On the other side, his main body was still battling Wanfang, extremely dangerous, so he couldn’t have any accidents here.
Halfway up, Su Changxing stopped, sensing there were other people upstairs, likely humans, as only humans would hide in such places.
Although he was now a zombie, his thinking was still human.
"It’s a zombie, it’s carrying a backpack."
"Take it down before it draws in something else."
Voices came from the stairs, a man with a machete looked at him; without saying a word, he charged at him.
Su Changxing didn’t hesitate, roaring as he charged forward.
It’s a life-and-death struggle; he’s a zombie now, the other won’t hold back, nor will he; it’s all for survival.
The man swung the machete towards his head, only by smashing the zombie’s head can it be killed.
Zombies inherently lack wisdom, making them fairly easy to deal with, mostly mechanical instinctive behaviors.
Confident, due to his Power he believes he can easily take down this zombie.
Su Changxing rushed forward like any regular zombie, making no evasion or dodging.
The man’s face contorted with menace, internally mocking these brainless zombies, till he saw Su Changxing suddenly make a nimble dodge to the left.
By then, it was too late for him to retract his blade, the machete slashed the nearby wall, sparking, indicating his significant Power.
Su Changxing seized the opportunity to pounce, using his body’s force to pin him down, with extremely skilled movements, pulling out the knife from his waist and stabbing into the man’s neck, akin to a top assassin.
His body was just an ordinary zombie, yet his combat awareness was terrifying.
The man kicked heavily at his stomach, without forcing him to release his grip.
At that moment, another person wielding a crowbar rushed over, "You can’t even handle one zombie!"
After a few steps, the newcomer noticed Su Changxing holding a knife.
Zombies can wield knives now?
