An opportunity had suddenly presented itself, and of course, he wasn’t going to let it pass.

After boarding the Undead Fortress, everything about the Undead felt new to him.

What he saw was completely different from what he had imagined.

In Damenevsky’s imagination, a place inhabited by the Undead would have to rival a slaughterhouse, wouldn’t it?

Mountains of corpses, the ground stained red, rivers of flowing blood.

Deformed creatures would be roaming everywhere.

You’d have to be careful wherever you walked, lest an Undead suddenly pop out and attack.

This was the image that Damenevsky—or rather, the vast majority of people—had of the Undead Race.

But in reality, the Fortress where the Undead lived was exceptionally clean and tidy.

Everything was in perfect order.

Compared to Human cities, this place was even more suitable for living.

It was honestly a bit baffling…

This reality, which clashed so starkly with his expectations, made Damenevsky even more curious about the Undead.

As luck would have it, Li Ziyu just had to casually toss out the question, “Want to stay here for a while?”

Wasn’t this the perfect solution dropping right into his lap?

What was there to hesitate about?

Damenevsky didn’t hesitate at all and immediately nodded.

“Yes, alright.”

And so, the Undead Fortress welcomed one of its former enemies—a member of the Hero Race.

Damenevsky didn’t know the meaning of the word “modesty,” picking a room and settling right in.

But was he just going to settle down and stay put?

Of course not!

Damenevsky was not the type of person who could sit still.

After picking a room, Damenevsky paid it no mind and started wandering all over the place.

Li Ziyu’s heart hammered in his chest. ‘What are you doing, wandering around blindly?!’ he thought.

The Leopard Woman Guli Geli could walk freely through the Undead Fortress because she had signed a contract with Li Ziyu.

After the contract was signed, the Undead considered her one of their own.

They wouldn’t attack Guli Geli without reason, but that didn’t mean they would tolerate Damenevsky.

This guy had no contract with Li Ziyu.

The Undead wouldn’t just ignore him the way they did Guli Geli.

If a fight really broke out, Li Ziyu would be the one stuck with the headache.

He wanted to stop Damenevsky from running wild, but the man was a guest, after all. If a guest wanted to look around, could he really refuse?

But letting him do as he pleased wasn’t an option either. Given Damenevsky’s intense curiosity, it was only a matter of time before he clashed with the Undead.

When that happened, wouldn’t Li Ziyu be the one left with the mess?

But personally escorting Damenevsky everywhere wasn’t a solution either.

After thinking it over, Li Ziyu dispatched four Black Knights to follow Damenevsky. If any Undead couldn’t resist attacking, the Black Knights would step in and stop them.

In truth, there weren’t many places Damenevsky could go. He couldn’t get into most areas without Li Ziyu’s escort anyway.

He was basically just wandering around the platforms, looking at the buildings and studying the Undead, and that was about it.

After making arrangements for Damenevsky, Li Ziyu immediately returned to his room and ordered the system to decompose the Void Beetle carcasses.

This time, they had killed nearly a hundred Void Beetles, and the types were no longer limited to just the Paddle-shaped Void Beetle. He wondered if he would get the materials he needed.

…

[Decomposing “Shield-shaped Void Beetle” +1. Acquired Soul Energy x800 units, Magic Energy x500 units, Void Energy x300 units, Void Insect Clan Blood x10 units, Insect Flesh x5 units, Shield-shaped Shell x1, Insect Teeth x1 pair, Crystal Insect Eyes x2, Void Energy Storage Pouch x1]

He didn’t get the materials he needed. Li Ziyu glanced at the message, then at the Shield-shaped Void Beetle. This beetle looked a bit like the ground beetles from his previous life.

Its body was long and narrow, with a smooth, flat shell resembling a medieval Knight’s Shield. Its head was tiny, somewhat disproportionate to its body.

It attacked with a pair of huge Insect Teeth that looked like a large pair of scissors.

The front half of the Insect Teeth were incredibly sharp, while the back half had three layers of serrations, making them look terrifying.

However, of all the materials from the Shield-shaped Void Beetle, the most useful was probably its Shield-shaped Shell.

It was practically a natural Shield, and its Defense Power was ridiculously high.

Li Ziyu took a look; almost all the Shield-shaped Void Beetles had died from having their heads blown apart.

Only one or two had marks on their shells from being smashed by fists.

This meant that not even Damenevsky’s axe could directly break through their shells.

This Defense Power was impressive.

If the Shield-shaped Void Beetle was the defensive unit among the Void Beetles, then the Gun-shaped Void Beetle was without a doubt the offensive unit.

The Gun-shaped Void Beetles also had varied appearances; some resembled Japanese rhinoceros beetles, while others looked like Hercules beetles.

In any case, these beetles all had large heads and thick, long horns that resembled Long Spears.

When the Undead had reinforced Damenevsky earlier, they had fought against the Gun-shaped Void Beetles.

Li Ziyu had watched closely; the Gun-shaped Void Beetle was a melee unit.

There was nothing fancy about them. They just had a blue Void Energy defensive barrier around their bodies and relied on the horns on their heads to viciously poke and strike.
