“Can you open a Teleportation Gate as large as my Fortress?”

Li Ziyu planned to leave, which meant the Undead Fortress naturally had to leave with him.

Opening a Wormhole to transport a person is simple. People are small, making the Wormhole easy to create. A Fortress, however, is a different matter.

The Undead Fortress was now the size of a city, which meant they’d have to open a massive Teleportation Gate and move the entire city at once.

Bebuta gave it some serious thought.

Void Creatures usually opened Teleportation Gates—Wormholes—for their own use. Opening one large enough for an army to pass through was no big deal either. It just meant keeping the Wormhole open for longer.

But to open one that could fit a Fortress…

He’d genuinely never attempted something like that.

‘Who would just randomly decide to teleport a whole city away? What kind of lunatic does that?’

The Energy required to open a Wormhole wasn’t a simple linear relationship with its size. Every slight increase in diameter meant the Energy cost would multiply severalfold.

Forget about teleporting a city; ordinary Void Creatures couldn’t even manage to teleport a single building.

After a long moment of contemplation, Bebuta finally spoke.

“I’ve never done this before, but I can try.”

“To get the Fortress through would require an immense amount of Energy. I can’t do it with my own Energy alone.”

Li Ziyu felt a pang of disappointment. He’d thought Bebuta could just open the Wormhole on his own. It seemed he had been too optimistic.

He patted Bebuta’s shoulder.

“It’s alright, you get some rest. I’ll just use the Void Crystal.”

As soon as he said it, he saw a look in Bebuta’s eyes that was a mixture of shock and disdain.

‘What’s that look for?’

“If even I can’t open a Wormhole capable of teleporting a Fortress directly, there’s no way a Void Crystal can do it.”

Those words were like a bucket of cold water dumped over Li Ziyu’s head.

Bebuta went on to explain, and only then did Li Ziyu understand the situation.

Teleportation Gates opened with Void Crystals were unstable and extremely dangerous. You couldn’t even control the size of the opening; it was determined by the amount of Energy in the Void Crystal and the distance of the teleport.

Bebuta had once witnessed someone from the Void Land use a Void Crystal to open a Wormhole. The resulting Teleportation Gate was less than a meter wide. The person had to crawl through it to get back.

It was a struggle just to send a person back, and he was thinking of teleporting a Fortress?

That’s just wishful thinking!

It dawned on Li Ziyu.

He knew something had felt off. So this was why.

If Void Crystals really had the power to transport a behemoth the size of a Fortress, the Tribes from the Otherworld would have launched a massive invasion into the Void Land long ago.

But clearly, Void Crystals weren’t capable of that.

Using a Void Crystal to travel between the two worlds was risky, and it couldn’t be used for large numbers of people.

Li Ziyu looked down at the Void Crystal in his hand, utterly speechless.

‘So what’s the point of me having this thing?’

‘This damn thing is more trouble than it’s worth!’

‘Am I supposed to just teleport a few Undead back with it?’

‘What’s the point of that!’

Li Ziyu could never abandon the Undead Fortress. The Fortress was bound to him; giving it up would be a death sentence.

Wherever he went, the Fortress had to go.

He had oversimplified things. If Bebuta hadn’t warned him, he might have caused a major disaster.

So, for now, the only option was to have Bebuta open a massive Teleportation Gate—a Wormhole.

‘Holy shit, just thinking about it now gives me the creeps!’

Back when Damenevsky captured Bebuta, he hadn’t thought much of it. He wouldn’t have cared if Bebuta lived or died.

He had only signed the Soul Contract on a whim.

‘Who would have thought… This wasn’t some insignificant pawn; this was his lifeline.’

If he couldn’t develop the technology to travel between the two worlds, then Bebuta was his only hope.

“Rest up and get your strength back. If you need anything, just tell me. I’ll make sure you get it!”

Li Ziyu squeezed Bebuta’s shoulder, his voice heavy with sincerity.

He meant every word. After all, he was counting on Bebuta to open the Teleportation Gate.

Bebuta glanced at Li Ziyu, then down at the hand gripping his shoulder.

He let out a helpless sigh.
