Global PvP Tower: I Can Infinitely Merge My Units
Chapter 102: Dark Fall Conquest (8)
The forty-first wave didn’t announce itself with a horn.
It announced itself with a scream from the eastern edge of the ring, cut short halfway through.
```
[ Wave 41: Incoming. Ascended threats active on the field. ]
```
Logan was already moving. Grim Lock caught a shape near the sound and Reaper’s Stride tore him across the gap in a single blink.
He landed on a platform slick with blood and found nobody left alive to defend it.
The Ashveil Colossus stood in the wreckage of the tower’s outer wall, forty feet of grey stone-flesh grown over something that had once been much smaller.
```
[ Ashveil Colossus, Ascended ]
Mythic | Level 40
HP: 9,100,000/9,100,000
Attack: 9,900
Speed: 8,400
Constitution: 10,000
Arcane: 9,200
```
’Two players.’ Logan read the number under its name and felt his jaw tighten. ’It ate two more since the last time I saw it.’
The math sat cold and simple in his head. Every death made these things stronger, and every stronger boss made the next death easier to cause.
If nobody broke that loop, the field would eat itself from the outside in.
He raised Grimlord’s Blade and stepped forward, and the Colossus turned toward him with a grinding sound like a mountain rolling over.
---
It hit harder than anything Logan had fought in this event.
The first swing caught the tower’s remaining wall and erased it, and the shockwave alone threw him twenty meters before he caught himself mid-air.
’Constitution ten thousand.’ He landed in a skid, boots carving furrows into scorched dirt. ’I can’t out-damage that. Not from the outside.’
Overgrim Slash carved a line across its chest and closed almost as fast as he opened it.
Grim Devouring Slash bit deeper, and the wound still knitted shut while he watched.
Sword Intent showed him why. The threads holding the Colossus together didn’t run through one core the way the Duskbound Warden’s had. They ran everywhere, redundant and braided, a hundred small anchors instead of one big one.
’Cutting one does nothing. I’d have to cut all of them.’ He blinked clear of a descending fist and felt the ground crater where he’d been standing. ’Or cut the thing that ties them together.’
An arrow crossed four hundred meters of open ground and punched clean through the Colossus’s shoulder joint.
The wound didn’t close.
Logan’s head snapped toward the trajectory before he’d finished processing it, and he caught the faint silver shimmer trailing behind the shaft.
’Puncture.’ A grin pulled at his mouth despite everything. ’Her arrows don’t just hurt it. They stop it from stitching itself back up.’
Alice’s voice reached him a heartbeat later, carried across the field by a Radiant Snare flare she’d fired straight up as a signal.
"I can hold the holes open! You make them!"
"Then keep shooting!" Logan roared it back and threw himself forward.
They fell into rhythm without needing to discuss it further.
Logan opened wounds with Sword Intent, cutting the anchors he could see, and Alice’s arrows drove into each one before the Colossus could close it.
Every hole she pinned open was one less thread holding the thing upright, and Logan’s next cut had one less anchor fighting him.
It took ninety seconds. It felt far longer than that.
The Colossus came apart in the ninety-first second, its whole grey mass unraveling at once when the last anchor failed.

Logan stood in the settling dust and breathed hard, and across four hundred meters of ruined ground, Alice lowered her bow and grinned at him.
Neither of them said anything. They didn’t have time.
The Grimtide Reaver was still out there, and the forty-second wave was three minutes away.
---
Waves forty-two through forty-four were the worst stretch of the entire event.
The Grimtide Reaver took four more players before a joint push from six towers finally brought it down, and it had grown large enough by then that its corpse blocked an entire lane.
Nine more players died across those three waves. Every one of those deaths fed something.
By the end of wave forty-four, there were five Ascended bosses on the field instead of two.
```
[ Warning: Ascended threat count rising. Field survival probability declining. ]
```
Logan read that notification and went very still.
’The system is telling us we’re losing.’ He’d never seen a warning like it in any match, on any floor. ’It doesn’t do that unless it’s actually true.’
He looked out across the ring of towers, and for the first time he counted how many were dark.
Eleven. Eleven towers with nobody left standing on them.
’This isn’t a competition anymore.’ The thought landed heavy and certain. ’If this keeps going, nobody walks out. Not the dwarves. Not Rourke. Not Alice.’
That last name settled something in him that the other names hadn’t quite managed.
A chime cut across the thought.
```
[ Class Level 35 reached. Choose one new skill. ]
> Grim Bulwark (Passive) - Reduces incoming damage by a percentage scaling with missing HP.
> Reaper’s Toll (Active) - Deals damage based on the target’s missing HP. Long cooldown.
> Grimspire Lance (Active) - Extends the blade into a lance of condensed death energy. Length scales with skill level. Piercing power is drastically increased for the duration.
```
Logan didn’t even finish reading the third option before he knew.
’Their armor is the problem. Their reach is the problem. Their constitution is the problem.’ He selected it without hesitation. ’This fixes all three.’
```
[ Grimspire Lance selected. Level 1. ]
```
Grimlord’s Blade shifted in his grip the instant he willed it. The edge drew forward and thinned, black energy condensing along its length until four feet of sword had become eleven feet of spear.
He tested it on the nearest Legendary-rank straggler and the lance went through its chest, through the monster behind it, and through the tree behind that one.
’Oh.’ Logan stared at the hole in the tree. ’That will do.’
---
Alice was running out of everything except stubbornness.
Her MP sat at a third. Her quiver held whatever the Stardust Horizon Quiver could still fabricate out of scavenged material. Her draw fingers had gone numb somewhere in the last several waves.
None of that had slowed her down, because Hungry Star kept dragging MP back out of everything she killed, and Arrow Intent kept making sure she killed plenty.
But the bosses were faster than her now. That was the problem she couldn’t shoot her way out of.
```
[ Skarnvault Devourer, Ascended ]
Mythic | Level 40
Speed: 9,600
```
’Nine thousand six hundred Speed.’ She watched it cross two hundred meters in under a second and felt her stomach drop. ’I get one shot. Maybe two. Then it’s on me.’
She got one shot. It was a good one, straight through the thing’s eye socket, and it barely slowed down.
Comet Step carried her off the platform half a heartbeat before the Devourer’s jaws closed on the spot where she’d been standing.
She landed rolling, came up drawing, and put a second arrow into its throat on pure instinct.
’Not enough. Not fast enough.’ She backpedaled hard, firing as she went. ’I need to shoot faster. That’s the whole problem. I just need to shoot faster.’
The want was so sharp and so specific that when the chime came, it felt less like a reward and more like an answer.
```
[ Class Level 25 reached. Choose one new skill. ]
> Meteor Shroud (Active) - Surrounds you with orbiting fragments that intercept incoming projectiles.
> Gravity Well Arrow (Active) - An arrow that drags nearby enemies toward its point of impact.
> Starfall Cadence (Passive) - Each arrow that successfully strikes a target grants a stack of Cadence, increasing Attack Speed by 1% per stack. Stacks reset if you don’t get a new stack within 10 seconds of the last one. There is no upper limit.
```
Alice read the third one and laughed out loud in the middle of a boss fight.
"Yes." She was already selecting it. "Yes, absolutely yes."
```
[ Starfall Cadence selected. Level 1. ]
```
The first arrow after that felt exactly the same.
The tenth felt faster.
The fiftieth felt like her hands had stopped being a limiting factor at all, and by the hundredth she wasn’t drawing individual arrows anymore so much as maintaining a continuous stream.
```
[ Starfall Cadence: 240 stacks. ]
```
The Skarnvault Devourer had crossed sixty meters of ground in the time it took her to put nineteen arrows into its face.
It didn’t cross the last twenty.
```
[ You have eliminated Skarnvault Devourer, Ascended. +16,500 points. ]
```
Alice stood over it with her chest heaving and her hands finally, blessedly steady.
’No limit.’ She flexed her draw hand and felt the Cadence humming under her skin, patient and stacked and waiting. ’It said no limit.’
She thought about Logan and his speed stacks, the ones he’d been throttling this whole event because his body couldn’t hold them.
’So that’s what it takes to stand at the top.’ The realization felt less like envy now and more like recognition. ’Something that never stops growing, and the will to carry it.’
---
She wasn’t the only one who’d worked that out.
Across the ring, the players who’d survived this far were all revealing the same shape of answer.
Kruk Bloodfang had stopped dodging entirely somewhere around wave forty-three.
He waded into an Ascended boss’s strike zone and let it hit him, and every hit that landed made the next swing of his axe heavier.
"More!" He was laughing, blood sheeting down one side of his face. "Undying Fury doesn’t cap, you ugly bastard! Hit me again!"
The boss hit him again. Kruk’s counterswing took its arm off at the shoulder.
Lyria Windshard fought on the opposite principle, never once letting anything touch her, her Wildstorm Communion building charge with every spell she cast and never discharging it fully.
By wave forty-six she stood inside a permanent thunderhead she had built herself, and the lightning she called down had stopped looking like lightning.
The Emberleaf twins had found something stranger.
Every synchronized shot they landed deepened their Mirrorsong Resonance, and the resonance made the next synchronized shot land harder, which deepened it further.
They’d been firing in perfect unison for six straight waves without a single desync. Their arrows had started arriving before the sound of the bowstrings.
Logan watched all of it from between fights and understood something about the top of the leaderboard that he hadn’t fully grasped before.
’Every one of them has a growth mechanic with no ceiling.’ He filed it away with genuine respect. ’That’s not a coincidence. That’s what the top actually is.’
```
[ Individual Elimination Leaderboard, Wave 45 ]
>1. Leon Flanke: 112,400
>2. Ruby Starviel: 96,800
>3. Sylvana Emberleaf: 81,200
>4. Corvin Emberleaf: 80,600
>5. Lyria Windshard: 78,900
>6. Kruk Bloodfang: 77,500
