Chapter 109: Shopping and Travel

"What do we do now?"

Following Killian, Regis asked as they stepped outside the Adventurer’s Guild.

"Are we going to the location of the mission now?" He asked again, clearly excited at the thought of adventuring for the first time.

Sensing this, Killian laughed lightly and looked at Regis and Pandora.

"No."

"Eh, but why?"

Regis and Pandora, who was behind him, both had a confused expression on their faces.

"We can’t just go head on to the location of the mission without any preparation now, can we?"

Killian raised his index finger at them, before pointing it in a certain direction.

"So we need to go shopping first!"

"Ohhhh!"

Regis and Pandora’s faces lit up as they heard his words.

However, Killian looked at them with a strict expression, "But remember, we will only buy the things that we need! Stick close to me so I can keep an eye on you, okay?"

The two glanced at each other as the happiness on their faces deflated.

"It’s good that you understand. Let’s go!"

Killian said as he excitedly led them to the shopping district of Corelli Fortress.

"Although the Corelli Fortress is, well, a fortress, we also have a shopping and entertainment district like those in the cities."

Killian spoke as he led the two amongst the busy crowd of the shipping district.

"Woah..."

Regis and Pandora looked at the side of the road and saw the busyness of the place.

Citizens and merchants were bargaining left and right. It was extremely lively, to say the least.

Seeing the countless stalls that held a variety of items within them, two pairs of crimson eyes sparkled in excitement.

"Hey! Focus!"

Killian noticed that they were distracted and shouted to regain their attention.

Regis and Pandora immediately looked towards him, making him nod in satisfaction.

Killian then proceeded to explain, "You don’t really need to observe the weapons offered in the market since I can guarantee that what we have at the mansion is way better."

"So the things that we will be focusing on will be bags, food, canteens, bandages, water filters and the like."

"Ohhh..."

Hearing him list the things that they need, Regis and Pandora looked at each other as their faces froze.

Originally, they thought that adventuring was all sunshine and rainbows.

However, upon hearing Killian’s words, they were reminded of their struggles when they were travelling from Toran City to the village and from there to Corelli Fortress.

They were only able to get by because Regis was strong and could hunt monsters and Pandora had magic which could be used to cook the beasts and boil water to purify it.

Still, they were hard times. So much that the two of them never wanted to experience it ever again.

Seeing the sudden seriousness they were emanating, Killian felt a little confused.

Nevertheless, he felt satisfied since they were taking this more seriously, "Okay! Now, follow me and I’ll take you to the good stores here in the shopping district!"

"Many merchants here try to one up travellers in order to gain more profit. Of course, that’s just the nature of merchants. But honestly, it still sucks."

"Fortunately, you have me! Someone who’s knowledgeable enough about the shopping district!"

Regis and Pandora didn’t comment about his boasting and just followed him quietly.

The three of them then spent the next two hours going from shops to shops in order to buy what they might need.

"Brother..."

Pandora walked closer beside Regis and whispered, "Why do I feel like something’s off?"

"I know what you’re talking about." Regis had an exhausted expression on his face.

"It’s because every shop that we went to either has a female vendor, or there’s a vendor with a daughter who helps in the shop..."

Understanding what he’s implying, Pandora was speechless.

Spending the last few hours with Killian proved to be draining both externally and internally.

And no, it wasn’t because of the distance that they walked.

It was because of the fact that in every shop they visited, he flirted with either the vendor, or the daughter of the vendor.

’It’s amazing in the fact that not once did he repeat any adjective... it’s like he had a compliment designated to every girl.’

Regis didn’t know what to feel: that he was amazing or that he was an idiot.

’Wait, don’t tell me that the reason why he knew those good shops was because he flirted with every single woman in the shopping district!?’

Regis could not help but feel goosebumps at the thought of it.

Nevertheless, he was glad that it was over.

"What are we going to do next?" Regis asked with a tinge of excitement.

Behind him, Pandora’s eyes also sparkled.

Looking at them, Killian smirked, "What else but the thing you two have been waiting for?"

"Let’s go adventuring for real this time!"

"Yay!" Regis and Pandora happily cheered together.

Killian then led them to the area where carriages were stationed and paid a handsome amount to the driver.

"Get in. We have a long day of travelling ahead of us!"

Soon enough, the yell of the driver was heard as the carriage being pulled by healthy horses started to move.

At this moment, Regis spoke, "Hey, Killian. Is it okay for us to leave your mansion unguarded?"

"Oh, you don’t need to worry about that."

Contrary to his expectations, Killian didn’t seem to be bothered even by a bit, "There are still people guarding it, after all."

"Ehhh? I thought your family was wiped out?"

Faced with Regis’s question, Killian smirked and said, "Yes, I did. In fact, even the guards and maids all left."

"Except for a few people."

"A few people?"

"Yes. It was the people that my father had trained since they were young. You can look at them as a little like a secret squadron within our family."

"You had something like that? Then why didn’t they move when you were abducted by Count Oprheus?"

"Because I told them to not intervene."

Killian fixed his position and sat up straight as he continued, "It’s quite a common practice among noble families. Nurturing people who would dedicate their entire lives to you without a question."

At this moment, the playboy Killian that Regis had seen earlier was nowhere to be found.

All he could see was the most talented of the Gladius Family.
