Chapter 1998: Part 2: Nova City

Chapter 1998: Part 2: Nova City

Nova City

In the hotel room, I noticed the zero puppet outside. It turned into a black-clad steel form.

"Master," the zero puppet greeted me.

I nodded and said, "We are in a medium-sized city. It’s called Nova City. Go and try to collect intel. But be careful. There could be Forbidden Wizards in the city."

Hearing that, the zero puppet agreed. It turned into a red smoke form. The puppet then exited through the gap in the window.

Seeing that, I walked up to the window frame. I opened the window. My gaze fell on the scene outside. I saw towering buildings.

Many of them had beautiful gardens. Small flying vehicles could be seen hovering above the buildings.

I didn’t know whether the hostile forces had captured the City Lord. I decided to explore the city shortly.

20 minutes later,

I left the room. I came across the members. I told them to explore the city and try to gather as much intel as possible.

Hearing that, the members agreed. They decided to explore the city as two-member teams. When they left the hotel, I exited a couple of minutes later.

My mask drew attention. But this city is quite rich. There are many strange people here. After one glance, people minded their own business.

I started walking along the path, observing the passersby and the shops on both sides of the street.

Suddenly, my gaze paused in a pet shop. You could buy monster cubs there. I decided to take a look inside.

In the shop, I saw cubs of various species inside glass containers. I used the system to view their information.

Surprisingly, the monsters had high bloodlines. They could reach up to the 10th-order monster rank.

"Hmmm," I muttered.

Then I began to look around. Apart from me, there were other customers in the shop. I moved away from that section and went to the incubation section.

There were eggs placed in small glass boxes. There was information on cards outside.

"Evil Tiger Cub"

"Purple Venom Snake"

"Death Butterfly"

I continued to read the names one by one. Then I came to a third section where you could shop for food for various types of monster cubs and adults.

I explored the place and was about to leave. Then, I bumped into the manager of the shop. I had spotted him talking to some other customers earlier.

"Guest, I think you are interested in the monster cubs," the middle-aged man said with a smile.

Hearing that, a low chuckle escaped my mouth.

"I’m just looking around. I will be leaving right now," I said.

The middle-aged man’s eyes flashed with a malicious glint.

[Ding! Malicious intentions detected from the target]

I heard the system’s voice, but I didn’t show any reaction on the outside. However, I was surprised. I hadn’t seen this person before, so there was no chance of having a prior conflict.

Yet he showed hostility. It meant he had marked me. Since I didn’t know the person, I just gave a small smile before heading to the exit.

The manager’s smile displeased him. He watched the person disappear. When he had left the place, the manager entered another room.

He took out his device and contacted the head of the family.

"Master, I encountered a person from a Magic City. But I don’t know which city he is from. It’s hard to tell what his magic power is. His mana was perfectly concealed. I didn’t dare to probe further," he said to the person.

"Interesting. Send people to collect information on him," a male voice sounded from the other side of the call.

"Yes, Master," he replied.

The manager ended the call. He then quickly informed his trained men to go after the masked man to collect information.

In the city, each wizard force has its own privately trained wizards. They give them training and provide them with resources.

They assign them tasks whenever needed.

Meanwhile,

Otto and Patrick were exploring the city. Because their strength was at the Supreme Wizard level, they were treated respectfully.

It also drew the attention of the local forces here. They owned businesses inside the city, so they knew if any important people walked into their shops.

Otto and Patrick were already marked by some forces.

Similarly, Hank and old man Rock attracted attention as well. Since the strength of the old man was higher than a Supreme Wizard, no one dared to leave a mark on them.

In fact, the leaders didn’t order them to. Even they would have second thoughts before offending a Magic Lord.

But there were forces who recognized Hank and old man Rock. They were customers of the Frank Appraisal Shop. They had seen the duo in that shop.

Yet no one disturbed them right now. Instead, they wanted to know which hotel they were staying at, because they knew who owned the Frank Appraisal Shop.

It was none other than a Silver Tower member. If the news were to be learned by the City Lord, he would definitely go there to meet them.

But strangely, there was no response from him. Usually, the City Lord’s people were the first to figure out something like that.

Yet they hadn’t done it this time. It clearly sent a bad signal to the Silver Tower. It was one of the powerful Magic Towers, and they even had elder-level powerhouses.

These families decided to contact the hotel. They wanted to get an appointment with the group. If they succeeded in getting that appointment, then they would go there.

They were wondering who else had come, so they sent their men to investigate. If Appraiser Frank was here, then they could get their items appraised.

Meanwhile,

The red smoke entered the City Lord’s office as usual. It easily evaded the security guards and reached the room.

Inside the room, the City Lord was not there. The red smoke drifted around the room, but there was no sign of him.

However, the red smoke didn’t leave. It moved toward a corner. The red smoke hid behind a wooden shelf.

No one could sense it, but it knew the enemy had different methods to spy.
