Heir of Synthesis: The World Mage
Chapter 408: Savagery
The flying ship took off at high speed, cutting through the sky and flying over countless cities. From up above, Priam and the others watched countless disciples running back and forth, looking like worker ants in a giant anthill.
Besides disciples, there were also countless races and ordinary people living under the protection of the inner sect. For these people, there were no conflicts or dangers whatsoever; everyone could truly live a peaceful life.
Priam looked at those people, and his heart began beating faster. Soon, once he registered, he would bring his family here to live.
A few minutes later, another magical barrier appeared in front of them. As soon as the ship passed through it, they spotted a monumental gate guarded by dozens of imposing figures.
Since flying vessels were strictly forbidden from going any farther, everyone got off at that point.
"Here to register? Where are you from?" one of the law disciples guarding the gate asked coldly.
The question made the newcomers look at one another in surprise. What did he mean by "where are you from"? Wasn’t it obvious?
Dandara merely flashed an excited smile, already anticipating the confusion.
Right behind her, Shione answered bluntly, "We’re disciples from the outer sect. We’ve come to register."
In unison, the more than two thousand members of the group took out their emblems, ready to hand them over to the law disciples.
Priam, however, kept his eyes on the central figure among the group of gatekeepers and noticed something peculiar: That guy knew him, and he was deliberately looking for an excuse to start a confrontation.
The man looked Priam up and down with disdain before sneering, "So you’re that Priam guy? I’ve heard about you. You like charming women... You even managed to sweet-talk that brat Nise and Young Lady Safira into falling for your bullshit. Did you come prepared to—"
"You talk too much." Priam abruptly cut him off, secretly alarmed.
The reason was that, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Dandara drawing her dagger, ready to chop the man’s head off without a second’s hesitation.
The guard was an idiotic provocateur, but Dandara was completely unpredictable and had absolutely no control over her violent impulses whenever jealousy was involved.
Before she could move, Priam stepped forward.
*POW!*
The black branch sliced through the air in a blur, smashing directly into the loudmouth’s face.
The instant the guy collapsed unconscious onto the ground, the other law disciples nearby immediately surrounded Priam.
"Capture him!"
Those Level 9 Philosopher Sages charged forward at the same time, throwing heavy attacks in his direction.
This place was the main entrance to the inner sect’s facilities. There was a teleportation array there, although traffic was relatively light at that hour.
Earlier, when other disciples from a distance saw the group of newcomers arrive, they shook their heads disapprovingly. They knew exactly what was about to happen.
There was an unspoken tradition in the inner sect: intimidating newcomers.
Since those veterans themselves had been bullied in the past, causing trouble for newcomers in their spare time was the perfect way to vent their frustration.
The sect simply pretended not to see anything. As long as no official disciple rules were violated, they could settle their disputes however they wanted. Under the noble excuse of "teaching the newcomers a lesson and bringing down their arrogance," the veterans made sure the newcomers didn’t get too cocky.
While the spectators felt sorry for the newcomers, Priam turned into a stationary blur.
He instantly reappeared in front of another law disciple and delivered a brutal punch straight to his face. The unfortunate man was sent flying several meters through the air, spinning as teeth and blood sprayed everywhere.
Those watching from a distance widened their eyes in shock.
"Who the hell is this newcomer?!"
"This time, the show is going to be promising!"
Dozens of people gathered around excitedly. Knowing that even more people would arrive as soon as the rumor spread, they hurried to secure the best spots.
At that same moment, the remaining law disciples charged at Priam with their fists clenched.
Priam’s faction remained completely still, not daring to move a single muscle. They weren’t capable of fighting disciples more than one Rank above them without going all out and using lethal force. Besides, without Priam’s direct order, no one was allowed to act.
Priam let out a short snort when he realized that the attackers were relying solely on brute force. Although they were furious, they hadn’t used their Magic Arts, Ancient Arts, or weapons.
Seeing this, he decided to fight on the same level. He even put away the black branch.
’Why not use our fists? After all, this is how you have fun!’
*BANG!*
Priam’s fist crushed the nose of a guard charging at him. With an audible crack, a mixture of blood and tears sprayed from the man’s face.
"It’s forbidden to use any kind of energy here! You can’t use weapons either! If you want to fight, just use physical strength! Nobody’s going to be punished for it, so if you don’t like someone, feel free to beat the crap out of them!" one of the spectators shouted toward Priam’s faction’s soldiers, trying to provoke them after seeing everyone standing still.
Fights were a daily occurrence there. The veterans tried to intimidate the newcomers, and the new disciples naturally refused to accept the humiliation without fighting back.
However, very few newcomers could actually defeat the veterans. Most fights ended in the blink of an eye, with the newcomers sprawled on the ground. Only after getting beaten up were they allowed to proceed with their registration.
The sect simply ignored the chaos, as long as both sides followed the rules: no energy and no weapons. As long as there were no corpses at the end, anything was allowed.
After hearing the spectator’s explanation, Priam’s eyes lit up with excitement. He turned toward his faction and let out a savage roar:
"Since that’s how it works... all of you, come on! Tear everything apart!"
That order was enough to ignite the blood of the two thousand soldiers. Everyone’s eyes flashed with excitement. Dandara, in particular, released such a dense murderous aura that the air around her seemed to violently distort.
"Dandara, you stay right there!"
Priam spoke immediately, holding her back. He was absolutely certain that if she started fighting, she would rip someone’s head off.
"TAKE THEM DOWN!"
Furious shouts echoed through the area.
At that moment, absolute chaos broke loose.
In a real magical confrontation, Priam’s faction wouldn’t stand the slightest chance against opponents one Rank above them. But a fight using nothing but fists, elbows, and knees? No energy or actual powers?
That was a completely different story!
Even the Holy Mages in Priam’s faction were good at hand-to-hand combat. And their numerical advantage was overwhelming: more than two thousand soldiers hungry for a brawl against a few dozen unarmed law disciples.
The scene turned into a complete pandemonium of cracking bones and flying teeth.
Flaris charged forward like a beast, knocking down a law disciple with a flying kick straight to the chest.
Before the guy could even process what had happened or get back up, Shione laughed mockingly and slammed the heel of her boot into his face.
The faction attacked like a pack, grouping up more than ten against one and unleashing a brutal barrage of punches, kicks, and elbows.
At the center of it all, Priam was a force of nature. He carved his way through the crowd with clean punches. Every blow he landed resulted in a jaw cracking, a nose being crushed, or a spray of teeth flying through the air. Within seconds, seven law disciples were already sprawled across the blood-soaked ground, not a single one of them having even managed to graze his clothes.
The spectators around them watched in complete disbelief.
"Holy crap! Where did these newcomers come from?!"
"What kind of demons came out of the outer sect?!"
The distant spectators were completely shocked. After all, even with their numerical disadvantage, the physical density of the law disciples—all Level 9 Physical Philosopher Sages—should have made them far more durable and practically unbeatable in this kind of fight.
Yet Priam’s faction fought with terrifying coordination, delivering a one-sided and merciless beating. No one there had ever seen veterans get beaten like dogs the way they were that day.
"Wait a second... that guy in front... Isn’t that Priam?!"
As the crowd of curious onlookers grew larger, someone finally recognized the figure at the center. After the explosive events in the outer sect, images of Priam had already circulated among the influential figures of the inner sect.
"Who is Priam?"
Murmurs spread through the crowd as stories about his achievements were passed from mouth to mouth. In an instant, the crowd’s attitude toward the newcomer changed from curiosity to fascination.
At that exact moment, the monumental gate swung wide open. A huge contingent of hundreds of law disciples appeared in the blink of an eye.
In the inner sect, any disciple looking for some extra resources could sign up for this kind of work. Although there were no serious crimes or betrayals within the inner sect, minor conflicts and violations of the basic rules still happened. The Sovereign Goddess hadn’t put every little thing imaginable into the inscription laws. So, people like this were necessary.
"Things just escalated! The noise was so loud that they interrupted their training!"
That furious battalion charged forward like an avalanche just as Priam dragged the last law disciple from the first group by the collar and threw him onto the ground.
"You insolent bastards! Apparently, these newcomers need to learn their place! Beat them all down!" the commander of the newly arrived group roared, leading the charge.
Following the strict rules of the place, they didn’t use energy or weapons; they charged forward using nothing but brute force, fists, and kicks.
Everyone there was a Level 9 Philosopher—the ceiling for nearly 99% of the inner sect disciples, since reaching the Sage Exalted realm was a feat reserved only for true monsters.
Priam looked at the enraged crowd and shook his head. What was the point of this ridiculous bullshit? Annoyed by the waste of time, he didn’t even bother arguing. Without saying a word, he unleashed a devastating front kick at the idiot leading the charge.
The impact was so colossal that the guy flew backward like a projectile, crashing into dozens of others right behind him.
The chain reaction shattered dozens of ribs at once. Although Priam wasn’t using any actual power, the physical structure of his body was ridiculously superior. To him, those Sages were made of paper.
"This guy’s a monster! Forget the others, take him down first!" Most of the law disciples immediately changed targets, surrounding Priam from every direction.
Priam merely cracked his neck.
*BANG! CRACK!*
"AAAAAGH!"
"You bastard!"
Priam plunged into the middle of the crowd like a specter flowing through the shadows. No one could land a single punch on him. Meanwhile, every movement of his fists resulted in the dry sound of breaking bones and piercing screams of pain. He tore through the crowd like a hungry tiger unleashed into a sheep pen.
The spectators watched without even blinking. What the hell kind of hand-to-hand combat technique was that?
They said that two fists couldn’t stop four hands. Yet there, in the middle of the chaos, surrounded by hundreds of enemies, Priam dominated the entire battlefield without receiving so much as a scratch.
While Priam carved a trail of blood and screams through the crowd, his soldiers kept up the pace around him.
The spectators grew increasingly horrified—even the women in Priam’s group, some of them quite small and seemingly delicate, fought like savage mercenaries without a shred of mercy, stomping on the faces of fallen law disciples and throwing merciless elbows.
Shione was the leader of the savagery, shouting and encouraging all the women to strike the men’s weak spot between their legs. The women quickly followed her orders, and the men’s screams became higher-pitched and increasingly terrifying.
A little farther back, Dandara remained standing still, wearing a pouty and deeply disappointed expression.
Not with Priam, but with herself.
She knew he had left her out because he had noticed the murderous impulses that controlled her.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She needed to learn how to control herself, or she’d eventually disappoint him. Ever since they had officially started their relationship, uncontrollable emotions constantly overwhelmed her—sometimes an overwhelming, burning passion, and other times an uncontrollable desire to slaughter anyone who looked at him the wrong way. All those feelings made her lose her head.
At that exact moment, another flying ship landed in the courtyard, and a new group of people disembarked.
Leading the group was Nise, accompanied by her elite allies who had fought alongside her during the previous Event.
However, as soon as they stepped onto the ground, they came face-to-face with the square transformed into a full-blown, bloody free-for-all, with Priam and his personal army beating the crap out of hundreds of law disciples.
Nise froze in place, utterly dumbfounded by the insane scene.
"What the hell is going on here?!"
