Chapter Fifty-Three: The Fourth Diary Entry
Late at night.
Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
Voldemort, who was possessing the back of Quirrell’s head, suddenly opened his eyes.
A black diary silently appeared in front of him.
The diary radiated a powerful aura, and even Voldemort couldn’t help feeling slightly intimidated by it.
"Master?"
Quirrell asked nervously.
Voldemort narrowed his eyes.
"Quirrell, why is this thing here?"
he asked coldly.
Quirrell stared at the diary blankly.
"Master, this subordinate didn’t see anything..."
A malicious smile appeared on Voldemort’s lips.
"Then the Dark Lord is very curious to know exactly what is targeting him!"
He controlled Quirrell’s hand and made it touch the diary directly.
To his surprise, Quirrell didn’t cry out in fear. It was as though he couldn’t even sense what he was holding.
Voldemort chuckled softly.
"Little tricks!"
He took Quirrell’s wand and fired an explosive spell directly at the diary without hesitation.
But to his surprise, the supposedly ordinary diary remained completely unharmed.
Voldemort’s expression finally became serious.
"Dumbledore did this?"
He suddenly sneered and opened the diary without hesitation.
"Let the Dark Lord see exactly how Dumbledore intends to interfere with him!"
Voldemort chuckled softly.
His laughter was filled with sarcasm.
Then he froze.
What the hell?
Was this diary written by a Muggle?
Or is the writer someone from the future?
2023?
That’s thirty-two years from now.
Real or fake?
Is this another one of Dumbledore’s tricks?
Voldemort thought about it and couldn’t help reading further.
When he saw that Harry had become the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the savior of the wizarding world, he let out a mocking laugh.
"How is that possible? How could the Dark Lord possibly fail?"
he sneered.
But his expression gradually darkened.
Because he seemed to have vaguely seen a spell surrounded by green light striking him.
He died?
"Get out! Get out of my head!"
Voldemort roared furiously.
But he soon realized that no spell had invaded his mind.
He had simply caught a glimpse of the future.
Quirrell was so frightened by his master’s roar that he immediately fell to his knees.
"Master, calm down!"
Voldemort ignored him and continued reading with a cold expression.
His mood soon improved again.
"Dumbledore is dead too?"
"Good. Very good. If that’s the case, then it’s much more believable. Dumbledore died well. Once he’s dead, I can do whatever I want!"
Voldemort laughed wildly.
But as soon as he remembered the scene he’d just witnessed, his expression darkened again.
Even if Dumbledore died, Voldemort still wouldn’t become the most powerful person in the wizarding world.
That was truly unbelievable.
How could he possibly be defeated by Harry Potter?
Over the past few days, he had also observed Harry Potter through Quirrell’s body. He had never seen any potential in Harry that could allow him to defeat the Dark Lord.
He had always believed that the reason he had lost ten years ago was because of the woman named Lily Evans.
A woman whom even his subordinate Severus had begged him to spare.
He had assumed that she must have possessed some kind of trick.
Thinking about it now, he felt somewhat melancholy.
He hadn’t wanted to kill that woman.
Severus had pleaded with him for a long time because of her, and Voldemort had eventually agreed.
But he never expected that the woman would stand in front of her son.
He had told her several times to move aside, but she refused.
So, impatiently, he killed her.
Voldemort rarely sighed.
If I hadn’t killed that woman, then the subordinate I trusted most would probably be Severus rather than this useless Quirrell.
He snorted irritably, frightening Quirrell so badly that he nearly fainted.
Voldemort closed his eyes and continued reading the diary.
When he saw the diary’s announcement that Snape had also died, he didn’t feel particularly emotional.
He simply wanted to know how Snape had died.
Unfortunately, the diary didn’t reveal that.
So he could only continue reading.
Then he sneered.
"This Vesey Potter is rather interesting. She actually admires Dumbledore."
He knew perfectly well that Dumbledore had used Legilimency and Veritaserum on her.
Yet instead of resenting him, she actually believed that Dumbledore was the greatest wizard in the world.
"You were deceived by his appearance!"
Voldemort said angrily.
How could he not know what Dumbledore was really like?
From the moment Dumbledore had taken him from the orphanage, Tom had believed that Dumbledore was his salvation and that he would help him.
But what happened?
Dumbledore looked at him with suspicion every single day.
Even though the entire school, including the headmaster at the time, spoke highly of him, Dumbledore alone believed that he was a bad person.
"He only hung a child’s rabbit because I took things from those people. But if I hadn’t done that, wouldn’t I have ended up like this Vesey?"
Voldemort looked at the diary’s description of Vesey and spoke disdainfully.
This girl didn’t know how to resist and didn’t even dare to resist. She had come to Hogwarts like a little fool.
Her obedient appearance was rather cute.
But what use was that?
Despite being so harmless, Dumbledore was suspicious of her simply because her origins were unknown.
In some ways, this girl had it even worse than he had back then.
At least he hadn’t been under Dumbledore’s authority at the time.
Dumbledore hadn’t dared to go too far with him. At most, he had used Legilimency on him, but Tom’s Occlumency had already been quite powerful even then.
He hadn’t eaten anything Dumbledore gave him, either. There was no reason for a professor to force a student to eat something they were given.
But this girl named Vesey was different.
She seemed far too trusting.
Dumbledore had managed to trick her into eating food and had even used Legilimency on her.
Voldemort couldn’t help wondering just how much Dumbledore might have learned about her. I’m afraid that the old man might have even taken note of whatever dress she was wearing in the dormitory!
Voldemort thought maliciously, even thinking that Dumbledore was the same as other perverts.
"Vesey Potter is a very pretty young lady, isn’t she?"
Voldemort turned his gaze toward Quirrell with a sinister smile.
"Quirrell, if this girl was played by a man, would she drink poison and commit suicide?"
