Chapter Fifty-Eight: This Shameless Thing

Harry slapped Malfoy on the back of the head.

This shameless thing!

His sister was still so young, yet Malfoy was already thinking about courting her. Someone ought to confiscate whatever was giving this boy such ideas!

"You dare to hit me?"

Malfoy glared angrily at Harry.

He rolled up his sleeves and prepared to fight.

"Don’t think just because you’re Potter that you can..."

Malfoy shouted.

But then someone arrived.

It was Professor Flitwick.

He looked at Malfoy warily.

"You don’t intend to fight, do you?"

Malfoy snorted at Harry.

Then he suddenly said maliciously, "Professor, someone gave Harry Potter two broomsticks, and one of them is pink!"

Vesey quickly said, "They’re both mine, Professor. These two brooms were given to me by other people and have nothing to do with my brother. If you want to punish someone, punish me!"

Malfoy’s expression froze.

The confidence on his face immediately turned into uneasiness.

If Flitwick criticized Vesey, he could always say a few good words for her...

But Professor Flitwick didn’t criticize Vesey.

Instead, he smiled and gently patted her red hair.

"I know this broom. But this is the first time Severus has ever asked me what color of broom would suit a girl.

"I thought Vesey might like pink, so I asked him to have it customized. What do you think? Does it look good?"

Vesey’s face twitched.

Good grief, so you’re the culprit!

And you actually have the nerve to ask me whether I like it?

Who would like something like this?

Even those delicate young ladies probably wouldn’t want it, right?

But...

Vesey hesitated for a moment before forcing herself to endure the despair.

"I like it, Professor. I like it very much."

Damn this persona of mine!

Professor Flitwick laughed.

Only then did Malfoy realize that Vesey’s broom had actually been a gift from their Head of House.

He breathed a sigh of relief and immediately pointed at the broom in Harry’s arms.

"Professor, this one belongs to Potter. He..."

Professor Flitwick looked at Harry with a smile.

"I know. Professor McGonagall told me all about it. What model is it?"

Harry immediately grinned.

"Nimbus 2000. Come to think of it, Vesey and I were able to get our brooms thanks to Malfoy!"

He turned toward Vesey happily.

"Vesey, thank Malfoy with your brother. If it weren’t for him, we would..."

Before he could finish, Malfoy angrily ran away.

Harry and Ron burst out laughing.

"Look at him!"

"I’m sure he’s furious!"

They said it at almost exactly the same time.

Professor Flitwick shook his head helplessly and walked away.

Harry watched Professor Flitwick’s back.

Then he suddenly seemed to remember something and hesitantly asked,

"Vesey, you don’t like Malfoy, do you?"

Vesey almost glared at Harry.

Like him? Not a chance!

But she obviously couldn’t say that, so she put on a confused expression.

"Like? I don’t like him very much. He lied to you last time!"

Harry was about to explain that he didn’t mean that kind of liking, but stopped himself.

His sister clearly didn’t understand such things yet.

It was better not to bring it up.

If Vesey actually started considering Malfoy in that way, Harry would be furious.

"That’s right. Stay away from that kind of person. Our family is too straightforward to deal with people who have so many bad intentions!"

Harry secretly planted another negative impression of Malfoy in Vesey’s mind.

He believed that if he kept saying things like this, Vesey definitely wouldn’t like Malfoy.

A girl like his sister deserved the very best person.

He desperately began thinking of all the decent young men around him who might be worthy of Vesey.

Then he sighed.

No. None of them.

The reality was that almost nobody was worthy of his sister.

Dumbledore might have been acceptable, but he was far too old.

If he were a hundred years younger, perhaps he could have been considered.

Harry let out a relieved breath.

"Harry, what are you thinking about? Can I play with your broom for a while?"

Ron asked excitedly.

Before Harry could react, Vesey cheerfully placed her pink broom into Ron’s arms.

"Here. Take this one and ride it!"

Harry, who had just been eliminating potential suitors for Vesey in his mind, immediately became vigilant.

He looked Ron up and down.

Finally, he came to a conclusion.

If Ron ever dares to take an interest in Vesey, I’ll kill him.

He snatched Vesey’s broom back from Ron and said earnestly,

"Play with my broom instead!"

Ron had no idea that Harry had just mentally stabbed him several times.

He was actually quite happy.

After all, although Vesey’s broom looked pretty, what boy would want to play with a broom like that?

But Vesey was kind-hearted, so Ron hadn’t had the nerve to return it to her.

He had actually been thinking about going to the Quidditch pitch, pretending that he had suddenly lost interest in flying, and then giving the broom back to Vesey.

Unexpectedly, Harry had already solved the problem for him.

Brothers!

Ron gave Harry an appreciative look.

Harry finally relaxed when he realized that his good friend was still as clueless as ever.

"Come on! Let’s play until midnight tonight!"

He announced loudly, pulling Vesey along toward the Quidditch pitch.

But Vesey refused.

Not to mention her fear of heights, even if she weren’t afraid of heights, there was no way she was going to fly through the sky on this pink broom.

Going to the Quidditch pitch would simply be a waste of time.

"Brother, I’m afraid of heights, and I haven’t finished my homework yet. Why don’t we do our homework together?"

Harry immediately let go of her.

What homework?

What kind of homework?

Impossible.

He wouldn’t even think about doing his homework until the last possible minute.
